Conflict in the Middle East

I need to say this out loud

As a British citizen I am disgusted in the utter cowardice of my own government at the moment. If you are an American citizen please believe that there are people in the UK who have no respect for the way we are distancing ourselves from what is happening in the Middle East.
Your government has backbone and courage and wants to do the right thing for all our children’s futures.
I applaud Trump for standing up for his country, military, citizens of Iran…the world, and he doesn't care who he might offend in doing so.
It’s such a pity the same can’t be said for our ‘leader’. I am actually ashamed of my country at this moment in time. I truly hope this changes over the coming days/weeks.

I'm a British citizen and think Trump is a twat and do not want the UK getting involved into his shit show.

True.

Also Cypriots are furious against the UK. When the drones were detected, UK only alerted the base on RAF akrotiri, completely ignoring the village itself, and its civilians.
The kinetic movements there were done without consensus from the Cyprus government something that violates the good usage of the base. Frankly shows the remnants of colonial dependence the UK still exerts.
Let alone Greece and turkey are sending aircraft to protect the base as the UK hasn't got enough.

The Cypriot foreign minister commented something along the lines of we will be reviewing the status of Akrotiri. On the basis that the UK having a base in Cyprus comes with the responsibility for being able to defend it and if you can't do that then maybe you shouldn't be here.

I don't disagree but I shouldn't worry about the UK getting involved because after decades of defence cuts, even if the UK wanted to get involved it has nothing of military value to contribute anyway.

I wonder if the Argentinians will be taking note of the UK's lack of naval capability.

Well yes, theyll be rubbing their hands together seeing wet Starmer's uselessness and HMS Dragon's tardy departure.

The argies could be in and running the show while Starmer would be desperately trying to get Trump to take his calls.

I was wondering, given the delay in getting HMS Dragon ready in Portsmouth whether it would be easier and quicker to get HMS Victory out of dry dock and deployed to the Mediterranean, even if only as a stop gap until HMS Dragon is finally ready.

HMS Victory was previously deployed extensively in the Mediterranean and did a great job at the Battle of Trafalgar. It will also shut up Trump by demonstrating that the Royal Navy is still a credible fighting force.

HMS Dragon is finally on the move...
