Or having people deleted when they touch a nerve.

I wasn't aware touching a nerve was against guidelines.

Personal insults are tho. Which is why I reported your post and why it got deleted.

You dont think its weird for a British actor who doesnt vote in Israel to stand be on the red carpet and say I support X [insert name of foreign politician] and his government.

Ok.

He didn’t mention supporting anyone he just said what’s happening in Gaza needs to stop. And he’s right. It does.

Everexpanding · 05/09/2025 13:06

Happily take virtue signalling over genocide denial, all day very day, well done Hugh

Everexpanding · 05/09/2025 13:06

Oh fgs read the thread.

A good point well made. Love how he went straight into talking about the film so the journalist didn’t have a chance to tell him off

I thought that was also quite kind to the journalist as well. Her face was clearly “oh shit”, but (whether intentionally or not) he didn’t put her in a position of having to acknowledge his comments. Or make it her job to awkwardly bring the conversation back to the film.
As I said, I don’t know if it was deliberate. But if I’d been the journalist, I think I’d have been quite glad he went straight back to the film!

Oh fgs read the thread.

Why? It's correct what they said.

That poor journo’s face!

Why did the journalist act like that ?!
he’s well within his rights to speak out
as everyone should !

DrPrunesqualer · 05/09/2025 14:21

Prettyrosess · 05/09/2025 11:00

Polls have repeatedly shown that the majority of brits are against Israel's military action in Palestine. I think those who support Israel's actions feel threatened knowing their support is in the minority, which is why they insult and patronise those who speak out.

Agree we see it on the CEM threads here

again and again and again and again
🥱

DrPrunesqualer · 05/09/2025 14:26

FattyMcFattyArse · 05/09/2025 11:28

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza actually ISN'T being talked about enough or very much in the West. The government and the media, esp the BBC, have supported or ignored Netanyahu's horrific actions. We barely get updates on what is happening each day unless you watch Al Jazeera, and half of their journalists on the ground there have been deliberately assassinated by the Israeli regime.

So take your tone deaf slow clap and open your eyes.

But perhaps you prefer to be blinded by propaganda?

Well said 👏👏👏

meanwhile don’t forget to order a Lush Watermelon soap the profits of which go towards supporting children with mental health issues caused by the ongoing onslaught and starvation by Israel

Well then he should have saved it for a proper interview. Im sure the world is dying for Hugh Bonneville's expert analysis of one of the most intractable conflicts of our time.

But you were happy for him to condemn the attacks of October 7?
Basically everyone should condemn the attacks of October 7 but turn their heads at what happened and what is happening afterwards.
His words are ‘What is about to happen in Gaza City is indefensible. The international community must do more to bring it to an end’
Absolutely nothing controversial about that.

How did I insult you? I suggest that you didn’t do something.

I guess people who are rattled by something another person has said want to shut them down, pronto.

Having read many of your pretty offensive posts on several threads, your offence is rather funny.

I'm thankful to Hugh for his insightful highlighting of this awful crisis, which is receiving no air time at all here in the West. Had he not mentionned it I'd be none the wiser about this terrible situation.

Absolutely ridiculous.

He could have used his celebrity and privileged position to highlight something that would actually help raise awareness- plenty of under reported human crises all over the globe.

Instead he chose a pat, virtue signalling omnicause one liner.

S l o w c l a p

🙄🙄🙄🙄

Oh yes well done Hugh an excited garbled comment about something that no one has heard of. Oh no wait we have heard of the conflict as it is on the news most days but yayy Hugh!

SomeWomanSomewhere · 05/09/2025 22:17

Well done, Hugh Boneville!

And for anyone who gets their knickers in a twist about this one:

I should like to think you'd all be perfectly okay with Israelis being subjected to precisely, 1:1, the precise same treatment as Palestinians are. Seeing as you're all insisting that Israel is not after Palestinians as such: I'm sure you'd all be perfectly okay with Israelis being treated as per IDF (the most moral army in the universe, after all ...) standards.

Right?

hellohellooo · 05/09/2025 22:38

SharonEllis · 05/09/2025 06:28

Can anyone point me to the clip of his condemnation of 7 October? Its odd, I can't seem to find one. I guess it was drowned out by the masses of celebrities taking to the airwaves at the time.

lol howling

Your post is not very easy to understand. What exactly are you saying?

Right?

What is 1:1? I don't know what that is.

SharonEllis · 05/09/2025 23:09

You tell me ... precisely what 1:1 would you be fine with?

Block of flats in Netanya bombed because "there was an IDF in there"?

"But that particular Israeli 10-year-old stomped on bags of flour meant for Gaza, so obviously they were fair game"?

"Not really a journalist; he's an IDF reservist and a propagandist! Obviously, we had to bomb Channel 14's studio during a live broadcast!"

"Unfortunately, we had to leave a bunch of Israeli NICU babies to die - they would have grown up to be IDF, you see ..."

"I agree this is all maximally unfortunate. But, on the other hand: they voted for Netanyahu ... "

Pick one!
