Sky News report that Israel is expected to approve Benjamin Netanyahu's plan for a takeover of Gaza when the security cabinet meets later today.

According to the Times of Israel, the full cabinet is due to convene at 6pm local time, 4pm in the UK.

Israeli media are reporting that the plan could potentially span over five months, and it is likely to be aimed at destroying Hamas and pressuring it to free remaining hostages.

While some ministers have been critical of the plan, reports suggest Netanyahu is likely to secure a majority of support.

Netanyahu has made life's of Israelis in danger worldwide.

He has also destroyed the life's of palestinians.

The man should be removed and put behind bars asap.

Have Putin's actions put the lives of Russians at risk around the world (apart from the ones who accidentally fall out windows, drink radioactive tea and use nerve toxin instead of perfume ..).

What's so special about jews Israelis?

I never mentioned Jews, so let’s not twist my words. My point is simple: Netanyahu’s choices have put Israelis in danger worldwide and devastated Palestinian lives. That’s not about ethnicity, it’s about accountability. What’s so “special” about Netanyahu that his actions can’t be criticised like Putin’s or any other leader’s?

SunnyPrague · 08/08/2025 09:33

Hamas attacked Israel in the most monstrous terrorist attack and took civilian hostages. Started this war.

Hamas have ZERO regard for ANY human life - including Palestinians. Life is cheap when you are a jihadi terrorist - it is believed to be an honour to die for the cause. So they have their HQ in tunnels below nurseries, hospitals and schools. They literally protect their bombs with people.

Israel has tried to obliterate Hamas and rescue hostages - with horrific collateral damage and bloodshed to innocent Palestinian women and children.

Hamas has not surrendered or released the hostages - it’ll be two years in a couple of months. They’re clearly never going to. Especially now that they have the promise of statehood on the table. A reward for 7/10 and a huge encouragement for other Islamic jihadi terrorist groups.

This war needs to be brought to a close. Hamas would keep going until there is nothing and nobody left, so what other way?

Palestinian civilians need to be temporarily moved out of the way for their own safety. To a place where they can be fed and get medical attention. While Israel ring-fences and takes charge of the area. They need to destroy Hamas and then this war is finished.

I am making this sound simple - I know it is not. But things can’t continue as they are. Israel has the manpower, resources, intelligence etc to make this happen happen.

Israelis are only in danger from racists worldwide.

Some of my friends are extremely critical of Netanyahu and the Israel government - they wouldn’t discriminate or be hostile to Israeli people though.

Why would Israelis be in danger any more than Russians are? Who would they be in danger from? And how might you recognise them as 'Israelis'?

I believe the phrase is...hamas leadership (notably not in Gaza) will fight to the last Gazan.

GladioliGreen · 08/08/2025 10:19

Starmer condemns Israels plans to further escalate the conflict. Stating it will do nothing to release the hostages and nothing to bring about peace.

I understand what you mean — it’s good to hear that your friends can separate criticism of Netanyahu and the government from hostility toward Israeli people. Unfortunately, my family and friends don’t always feel safe, because not everyone makes that distinction. Some people let political anger spill over into prejudice, and that can be frightening. I’m glad your friends aren’t like that, but sadly, that mentality isn’t universal.

I’m not saying Israelis are uniquely in danger — just that, like Russians, they can face hostility when people wrongly conflate individuals with their government’s actions.
Recognition isn’t always about appearance. It can be through language, an Israeli accent, Hebrew writing, cultural symbols like the Star of David, or simply mentioning you’re from Israel. Sadly, some people take political anger and turn it into prejudice or antisemitism, which is what creates the risk.

Can you imagine if those depraved acts of slaughter had happened in the UK? To sit and watch footage of your countrymen, women and children, not only being murdered, but tortured to death. These are acts of deliberate and systematic vulgarity, based on ethnoreligion. Do you get much more evil than that. However, because of who the parties are, the west have been brainwashed into distorting what racism really is. It's more important to be on the 'right' side of history - which is nonsense, in itself - than to see where the threat is. This isn't collective punishment, at all. The thing is, these extremists know that similar massacres would be impossible in the west, due to military intelligence and security. Why is every other country allowed to defend its borders, but not Israel?

Many people are sick of this war on Palestine. They don’t support violence or the suffering. There are lots of voices within Israel calling for peace and an end to the conflict.
It’s wrong to assume the entire nation supports every government action — many are deeply troubled and want change.

It's not a war on Palestine - it's a long running Arab-Israeli conflict.

It's not a war on Palestine - it's a long running Arab-Israeli conflict.

It’s important to recognise that the government’s policies don’t represent everyone, and many want to see justice and peace for all people in the region. What’s happening is a war in Palestine — one that causes immense suffering and that many within Israel desperately want to stop.

You got it. No point further engaging.

Does Everyone forget the Ceasefire agreement. Agreed by both parties earlier this year and which would have resulted in all hostages being returned ( more of which were alive then, it is reported ) It was broken by Netanyahu after Stage 1

Had He kept to the agreement the hostages would be back home now.

Please stop pretending the Israeli Government didn’t do this.
Its not Hamas that broke the agreement

Agree and this is why I would be very sceptical that he will keep his word about not taking over Gaza. What's the betting there will be a reason that he has to take it over because circumstances have changed.
A man like him will do anything to keep in power and his word means nothing.

I suppose it is to be expected that there’s going to be a lot of hysterical pro-Palestinians absolutely frothing as they don’t want to accept that Israel is not committing genocide, and actually doesn’t want Gaza, and in fact went above and beyond for peace.

Really !
Genocide, starvation…it’s all recognised the world over

Netanyahu is only interested in himself and his superior needs over and above all else.

We saw what he wanted before October 7th. He’s just been carrying out his grand plan for his land grab ever since

He is not the peacekeeping individual you have been sold

Then @Dangermoo should have no problem telling me where Israels borders are then should she? If your argument is that Israel should be able to defend their borders like everyone else then why on earth would you act coy when asked where those borders are. It's a bit odd.
