BBC has an article about the discovery above. Hamas have "not yet commented". I'm not sure whether it's better to link or not to the article, so opting for caution and just saying it's there.

I hear. I wish there was more. Each one that does is a potential peace partner. https://x.com/howidyhamza/status/1892477198453371032?s=46

Compassion shouldn't just be limited to one race or religion! 💯

being Jewish today for me felt like a chaotic mix of never having felt closer to all my Jewish brothers and sisters, knowing they were all grieving too, and also painfully lonely, seeing so shamefully few people (outside the advocates who’ve been consistently standing up since oct 7th) condemn todays atrocities and stand with us.

I just still want to amplify the voices of those that did speak out.

Powerful stuff from Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, a native Gazan (my italics):

"It’s time to reject Hamas and separate the Palestinian people’s just and urgent aspirations from a despicable death cult that’s dehumanizing our people time and again. It’s time to denounce all the pro-“resistance” terror enthusiasts in New York, Europe, Australia, and elsewhere who keep cheering on Hamas and are celebrating the shameful parade of dead children, their mother, and an elderly peace activist. "

@sittingwaitingtables @EllaDisenchanted I literally commented below how disgusted I was with both. I despair at the lack of humanity on both sides. I think a lot of people do.

What you have to appreciate is this is not an equal fight. Since the beginning of this conflict the side with more power has acted without restraint and has caused immense harm as a result. You can say what you like about idiots going to marches etc but it is this lack of restraint by a government that could have showed more compassion that has caused people to protest.

Disagree - restraint has been shown, Israel could have flattened Gaza entirely long ago.

This debacle may very well be the final straw for Israel when it comes to restraint. It's awful to see just how heartbroken so many israelis and/or Jewish people are over this. And they are very very angry.

Yet every weekend we see pro hamas supporters marching around our cities

I was deleted earlier in the thread for saying this. I won’t repeat what I said for fear of further deletion, but who is reporting me for saying this? It’s happening and our authorities are allowing it and paying for them to be managed and policed, over and over again. Absolutely grim.

EllaDisenchanted · 21/02/2025 06:07

I don’t have to appreciate it, no.
please don’t talk about a ‘lack of humanity’ on ‘both sides’ when Hamas have sent back 2 kidnapped murdered babies, a kidnapped elderly peace activity and a random body, have paraded them on stage, and abused their own children by making them party to the spectacle, and as a cherry on top coordinated attempted mass murder via 5 bus bombs. I haven’t slept half the night because it brought me straight back to the horror of the second intifada.
maybe despair about Israeli ‘lack of humanity’ on another thread.

they killed them. Forensics show they weren’t killed in airstrikes. Hamas lie and they lie and they lie. Where is Shiri Bibas?!

Firealarm1414 · 21/02/2025 06:15

It's obvious that hamas are trying to provoke Israel into a reaction with this egregious behaviour because they can sense the tide is turning against them due to spectacle they are making around the hostage releases. They don't care how many gazans will die if they can use it to get sympathy. I hope for now at least that they don't take the bait. Let hamas show the world just who they are, and perhaps some eyes will be opened.

TheSidewinderSleepsTonite · 21/02/2025 07:13

The news this morning is so upsetting. At the very least the boys were with their mother. Even if it had been an airstrike, they would've been killed with their mother. Their safest place. The fact they've been returned without her is absolutely heart wrenching. As if their deaths (murders) weren't heart wrenching enough

statsfun · 21/02/2025 07:14

It's obvious that hamas are trying to provoke Israel into a reaction

Maybe they're hoping they will provoke a reaction from Israel, but it's also because they're cruel, malicious monsters who hate Jews so much that they want to hurt them as much as they can at every opportunity.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

Let hamas show the world just who they are, and perhaps some eyes will be opened.

The world is full of Jew-hate. Supposedly humanitarian institutions and terrorist-apologist protesters have shown that repeatedly.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

I'm so utterly disgusted and angry.

Looking at we can do in the UK: we need to stop the anti-Israel marches right now and arrest anyone who is supporting the terrorists. It's illegal and needs to stop. Now.

IHadaMarvelousTimeRuiningEverything · 21/02/2025 07:19

I worry that they did such terrible things to Shiri her body wouldn't have been in a state to be returned.

Those poor poor babies.

Firealarm1414 · 21/02/2025 07:25

Also, the fact that the red cross didn't do its job with regards to the hostages in the first place and is now participating in these disgusting celebrations of dead and starving jews is absolutely shocking and sickening. Why is this not being discussed in the media?

verysmellyjelly · 21/02/2025 07:30

UK policing should crack down hard on Hamas support. No more marches or protests. I'm not even Jewish, fwiw. I think any rational, compassionate person should be able to recognise that Israel is the wronged party here and that Hamas is a depraved death cult, murdering babies and inflicting as much psychological pain as they can. Only deep rooted anti-Semitism can explain why this terrorism is insistently justified and explained away by Westerners when if it happened in any other country on the globe it would be condemned in the harshest possible terms.

OMG absolute solidarity. How dare someone lecture you in this way. And yesterday/today when Hamas's utter depravity is laid bare for all to see. If people can't grasp what Israel is dealing with today they never will.

ohmysense · 21/02/2025 07:50

That poor, poor woman and her babies :( the news from this morning is absolutely devastating

noblegiraffe · 21/02/2025 07:52

Kidnapping a mother and her two babies is not resistance.

Parading the coffins of dead babies through a crowd to music is not resistance.

Returning a random body claiming it's their mother is not resistance.

ArtTheClown · 21/02/2025 08:01

ince the beginning of this conflict the side with more power has acted without restraint and has caused immense harm as a result.

If Israel had genuinely acted without restraint, Hamas in Gaza would no longer exist.

The last 16 months have destroyed my trust in many institutions which claim to be humanitarian.

I saw a video clip not long after October 7th where the families of hostages were sitting around a table in a tent with Red Cross representatives, asking them to take specific, needed medication to the hostages. The Red Cross people point blank refused. Not even showing sympathy or a desire to help. It was completely off the table.

Eventually, it was agreed as part of the first ceasefire that the Red Cross would deliver the medication. The named parcels were later found at Nasser hospital, not delivered.

Humanitarian, except to Jews.

ArtTheClown · 21/02/2025 08:08

@statsfun I remember this clearly. I had previously thought that the Red Cross were an admirable organisation - no longer.

I would also like to know who the deceased woman is that was sent to Israel - was she worth so little, where was the care and respect for her and her family also to use her remains as part of a cruel game?

That’s absolutely shocking, I didn’t know about that.
Red Cross refusing to deliver medication to innocent hostages? And later, after agreeing to do so just dumping it somewhere?
That’s really twisted. What’s going on with people?

What’s going on with people?

Anti-semitism. Jew Hate.

I'm not Jewish, and I find it unfathomable.

I’m the same. Not Jewish, but it’s so clear to me how some (many?) people are driven by this irrational hate for Jews.
I just don’t understand where it’s coming from.

I agree. Also not Jewish but have watched in absolute bafflement since 7th October. It so obvious to me that Hamas are responsible for everything that’s happened in Gaza that only absolute Jew hatred can explain the constant excusing of them/blaming Israel.

the celebrations of October 7th before Israel had taken any action, the ripping down of hostage posters, the calls for the destruction of Israel, Jew hunting in Amsterdam, - all the anti semitism our Jewish friends told us was always festering under the surface came raging forth.

it must be so scary to be Jewish now, it’s disgraceful.

There’s a video from months ago early in the war when they met with Netanyahu and he basically begged them to say something or just try and they basically completely refused to do or say anything. He had the medications for the hostages and said Hamas wont take them but they could replicate them, they have a list of the medications, why not try. And they just stonewalled him.
I knew the Red Cross had been complicit in the holocaust in covering up the concentration camps, but I had thought that was in the past. This was the final end for any trust/belief I had left in these humanitarian organisations. I’ll believe in the goodness of individual people, but the organisations are rotten.

Personally I would like to see water cannons out on those weekly protestors. As a Londoner I despair at central London becoming a no-go area every weekend as supporters of the Hamas death cult intimidate everyone while the police stand by scratching their arses.
