That's not what @marshmallowmix said, is it?

Thanks @SharonEllis exactly ….that is not what is said at all.

They either don’t actually read or just make it up …

They?

Anyway this is what you posted so can you explain what you meant?

it needs something radical to happen as they cannot exist along side one another that is clear...the violence will never end as is...what neighbouring counties would take them all as none have been keen up to now

Another poster said:
Well they tried that out in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait and Libya and it didn't work out too well for the hosts.
Literally no one in the Middle East wants to repeat that mistake and see the Palestinians as an angry destabilising influence on their host countries.

And you responded:
Exactly....no one will take them as too many issues

Is Trump advocating a forced removal of Palestinians ( ethnic cleansing) ? Or is his suggestion that Palestinians can choose?
Or is it deliberately ambiguous?
I have read around a little bit but I’m none the wiser..

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 05/02/2025 16:02

I looked on a map for the details. Israel already owns the vast majority of the Mediterranean strip. They/US don't need to steal that last bit, which is Gaza. The rest of Palestine, which is the West Bank, has been, and is being, snatched bit by bit by some Israeli citizens.

He's suggesting that they all jovially move out and live in this lovely 'new place' and they'll be delighted and thankful to him that they're able to go, seeing as their homeland is so rubbish now after all...

Yes . It all sounds completely Trumpian and mad But is he actually advocating forced removal?

I think he obviously is. You simply won't get most people to leave otherwise.

Yes. He absolutely is, but in a 'we're sending them to a better place' kind of way, absolutely nuts.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 05/02/2025 16:14

A "riviera of the Middle East", Trump called Gaza. A holiday destination. What a disgusting, grasping and greedy person. And political stupidity, unsurprisingly.

StandFirm · 05/02/2025 16:15

You know when something's gone awry when the US ends up being (rightly) criticised by Saudi Arabia, China and Russia for its position on a human rights issue...

You don't even need them. I know a few Zionists and even they don't think this is a sensible move.

HRTQueen · 05/02/2025 17:16

I am not surprised Trump has come up with this plan

It is so stupid, shows such a lack of understanding and knowledge of the history of the area and a total lack of empathy

What next from him, I dread to think

Im not surprised about trump suggesting it. I’m more surprised about people supporting it and saying how great this idea is for Palestinians

Lilly11a · 05/02/2025 18:10

He is mad as a box of frogs

Yes, and removal of their right to return, caveated with the idea that some might be able to go back at some point to live with the "world's people" but not in Palestine. Palestine would not exist. Gaza would not belong to Palestinians.

Scirocco · 05/02/2025 18:19

Because ethnic cleansing people from their homes is generally considered Not An Okay Thing To Do.

Ethnic cleansing is bad. Crimes against humanity are bad.

And strangely enough are unlikely to lead to peace

Would you like it if Trump kicked you and everyone else out of your country and forced you to live elsewhere.

Trump has yet to do anything positive which benefits anyone other than himself. He’s deranged and dangerous

Trump towers and resort on the Gaza sea shore. Trump commented a while back that it would make a nice tourist resort.

The way Trump sat next to Netanyahu yesterday and commented on how Gaza was destroyed as though the man sitting next to him had nothing to do with the destruction was chilling to me in its insanity.

His son-in-law has been keen on the idea for years.

It does rather smack of the adult coming in and taking the toy away as neither of the children can play nicely with it.
If he gives it a go, I expect it will be his Vietnam.

It smacks of a greedy arrogant man with dollar signs in his eyes.

The answer is feeling like a "hard done by victim" and asking for aid is way easier than the hard work path of reconstructing a country to become a stable prosperous nation especially as it will be a long process with a lot of economic suffering along the way.
You are forgetting a few details here such as an illegally occupied state which severely impacts their ability to become a stable prosperous nation and is the main reason they need aid.

It also severely impacts their ability to grow old. I’m 2024 the average age of Palestinians was 19.9 years. In the UK in the same year the average age was 40.5.
