In case there's confusion, these deaths were caused by the IDF, mainly their bombing campaign.

I think Hamas is also responsible for causing these deaths… ( mainly the fact that they knowingly provoked a war on October 7th without any sort of preparation for protecting innocent civilians )

Hamas committed their terrorist atrocity on October 7th precisely in the hope of precipitating Israel into a major assault. Yes, Israel went too far, but this is exactly what Hamas wanted. It's a shame that neither side gives a flying fuck about civilians in Gaza.

Absolutely agree

dairydebris · 03/02/2025 17:17

Nope. These deaths were part of a war that Hamas started on 7th October.

IDF has killed before 7-10. Has killed in other places not related with Hamas as well

EasterIssland · 03/02/2025 18:04

214 newborns.

Do you think Hamas had some idea of what would happen in response to October 7th ?
Do you think they realised their actions put Palestinian citizens at grave risk?
Do you think they care about putting Palestinians at risk?
Unless you think Hamas are completely stupid you must see that they bear some responsibility for the deaths.

wordsworthundercover · 03/02/2025 18:09

The weird thing is that saying Hamas provoked a reaction by doing something as atrocious as Oct 7th, (which is true), seems to convince some people that Israel is not to blame. Not only that, but Israel didn't kill over 17000 children, they were forced to do it by Hamas. It's bizarre logic.

Both are to blame. The reaction to Oct 7th unfairly made innocent civilians suffer

It's really not bizarre logic as long as you have a basic understanding of cause and effect.

Oh for goodness sake. Yes. Of course the I D F has killed before. It's an army. Has the RAF killed before? Have the Marines killed before?
Do you understand what a Defence Force is for?

Yes, that is true.

Why does what Hamas think about putting Palestinians at risk mean the IDF can kill them? Your logic makes no sense. Hamas don't care about the over 17,000 children killed so the IDF are entitled to kill them. Hamas are responsible for Oct 7th which triggered the Isreali response. Netanyahu and his government are responsible for how they conducted that response.

Cause and effect yes but Isreal has a choice in how they responded. Why are you infantilising them? They are after all one of the most experienced military force in the world.

I think it's more action and reaction. Nonsense to say grown adults are not responsible for their actions. I doubt most people will ever accept the acceptability of killing new-born babies and children in their thousands. You seem to be an outlier in this respect.

I think my logic was fairly clear.
Most governments would be held culpable for putting their citizens in harm’s way. Why is Hamas not accountable?

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.

May every innocent soul martyred be granted Jannat al-Firdaus and reunited there with those they love in time, insha'Allah.

Scirocco · 03/02/2025 18:29

May Allah guide us to the answers we seek about what has happened to our missing, and may we be strong enough to face those answers for them.

Don't be silly. I'm not infantilising the IDF. I'm laying the blame for this specific period of conflict at Hamas' door. You are infantilising Hamas by not holding them accountable for what they've bought upon their own people.
They knew there would be a massive military response to their invasion / atrocity of 7 October. They literally called their own civilians 'necessary sacrifices'. They chose that this was the price they were willing to pay for their cause.
I have absolutely no idea why you, and many others, prefer to hold Israel responsible for what happened after 7 October.

showmethegin · 03/02/2025 18:32

Anyone that tried to deflect and defends a state that has been shooting children in the head by sniper is a monster. Thousands upon thousands of innocents have been murdered. There is no defence.

LetThereBeLove · 03/02/2025 18:33

argyllherewecome · 03/02/2025 17:51

So why was Israel killing the Palestinians before Hamas existed? Murdering men, women, children and unborn babies, allowing settlers to illegally displace people and steal their homes? Preventing children getting medical treatment, rationing food, destroying educational resources? You can keep repeating the "it's Hamas" but nobody is believing this for one second.

Edited

Plenty of people believe it. Hamas are to blame for sending hundreds of rockets over to Israel continuously before the pogrom of 7 October 23.

@Scirocco Different faith, but we do think there is no more sorrow in heaven and that children are precious in the eyes of the Lord.

newbeggins · 03/02/2025 18:34

If Hamas were hiding in tunnels under Tel Aviv, 60,000 Israelis would not have died.

And Israel killed all those people. They committed war crimes every day for 15 months.
