I thought the atrocities of 7/10 were the worst thing I’d ever read about but her account of her treatment, particularly by ISIS, is beyond comprehension.

I only saw the headlines (I’m not usually one for content warnings but they were awful).

why is nobody talking about this? Why isn’t a board made up primarily of mothers talking about what she has described? Where is the condemnation?

It is isn't it. The UK are meant to be allies of Israel why do you think they allow weekly marches in support of a terrorist group?

That's not what the marches are about.
But also the majority of British people do not support Israel's actions and the majority of British people do not believe that Israel can be trusted to act responsibly.
Now seeing as polls suggest the majority of Israeli's support their Govt's actions, it would seem that the UK and Israel are not on the same page anymore

The loudest voices do not necessarily represent the majority.

I cannot support the open antisemitism I've seen enabled by these marches.

The polls don't show the loudest voices, the polls show the majority. And the majority, currently do not support Israel's actions in Gaza.

Kakeandkake · 19/10/2024 22:32

The majority also believe that the UK should not be arming Israel. I don't think most people will find it hard to understand why that sentiment is felt so strongly.

The UK is not arming Israel. Israel buys a tiny proportion of its military equipment from the UK.

I saw it in several headlines and wish I hadn’t. I’m glad if other people haven’t seen it.

the depths to which ISIS have sunk. It’s inhuman, outside anything imaginable.

Maybe if they did they would actually talk about the Yazidi women on a thread about Yazidi women.

Toomanywars · 20/10/2024 08:12

"The Yazidi women in Sinjar didn’t realise it yet, but the Isis fighters were carrying out a pre-planned mass abduction for the purpose of institutionalised rape. Initially they were looking for unmarried women and girls over eight."

Sick.

Toomanywars · 20/10/2024 08:14

"The Yazidis are a majority-Kurdish-speaking religious group living mostly in northern Iraq. They number less than one million worldwide. The Yazidis, throughout their history, have been persecuted as infidels by Muslim rulers who demanded that they convert."

Toomanywars · 20/10/2024 08:17

"At first, the women and girls were taken to prearranged locations in Iraq where they were handed out to the Isis fighters who took part in the attack on Sinjar. To avoid being raped, some of the girls killed themselves by slitting their wrists or throats, or hanging themselves, or throwing themselves from buildings."

You seem to have misposted on the incorrect thread?

Toomanywars · 20/10/2024 08:19

"According to Isis, it has no choice but to attack and kill disbelieving men. Flowing from this, it justifies the enslaving of their women as an act of protection, a way of replacing the men who previously looked after them. This idea is crucial to the role of slavery in Isis’s conception of how a caliphate should function."

These extremist terrorist organisations are unbelievably vile.

Toomanywars · 20/10/2024 08:21

"Implicit in the goal of eliminating the Yazidi community is the idea that society would be better without them, which is common to all genocides, said former UN investigator Sareta Ashraph. The enslavement, for Isis, is meant to eventually bring the women to Islam, and is part of their ideology of conquest. “[It is] among the greatest forms of the honour of Islam and its sharia [Islamic law], as it is a clear affirmation showing the supremacy of the people of sharia, and the greatness of their affairs, and the dominance of their state, and the power of their might,” according to an Isis pamphlet on slavery."

What a revealing post - if its in the Sun, I'll read it but you may have missed that I posted two other links. Are you disputing the story because its in the Sun?

And yet people march in support of Hamas every week in British cities. It’s incomprehensible

Oh stop being so disingenuous. People are marching to stop tens of thousands of civilians being wiped out by Israel. It's not in support of Hamas and you know it.

Yazidis are a particularly self contained culture so they don't marry out - not surprising considering how few there are. So apart from the horror of what happened on a human level there is, I think, this additional cultural dimension to the trauma. Its horrifying.

quantumbutterfly · 20/10/2024 09:05

Daesh went on a bit of a spree to destroy lots of things that didn't suit their narrative..people (the yazidi) and places.

Tha bamiyan buddhas was a source of sadness. They filmed the dynamiting of that. A trail of destruction of 'unislamic' history according to them https://www.nationalgeographic.com/history/article/150901-isis-destruction-looting-ancient-sites-iraq-syria-archaeology

Like the original PLO & it's ilk they recruited from around the world.

The worst kind of people, that phrase of king Hussein's to describe the people who allied with the PLO. I don't think they were originally jihadists but Arafat called out to 'the Muslim world' for help and he got extremists and non-muslims looking for a fight.

What on earth are you on about.

I am sharing details of the story of Yazidi women on a thread about them.

What story in the Sun. The details are from The Guardian.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jul/25/slaves-of-isis-the-long-walk-of-the-yazidi-women

This isn't about Hamas.

Slaves of Isis: the long walk of the Yazidi women

The long read: When Isis rounded up Yazidi women and girls in Iraq to use as slaves, the captives drew on their collective memory of past oppressions – and a powerful will to survive

Fucks sake people. Op talked about yet another article where Yazidi slave, Fawzia to be exact, described ISIS (many of these sdiers affiliated with many other terrorist organisations, in her case Hamas) feeding them children. In some cases their own children.

There are new articles about it now so obviously it renews talking about Yazidi now.

Toomanywars · 20/10/2024 09:11

Isn't it ridiculous that talking about the forgotten Yazidi women isn't to be tolerated.

Some posters have to keep bringing up Gaza, Hamas. Aren't there enough threads covering the conflict there.

Every thread that is in the middle east boards is derailed to Gaza. No other chat can go on.

Exactly.

Yet people cannot just ignore if it doesn't interest them.

Nothing but gaza is acceptable to some.

The ones who think it's an old story so no interest

I have already posted that link right at the top of the thread - but made it so the headline wasnt visible as it is pretty distressing to come across while scrolling.
