Is no more anti-Semitic than being critical of the actions of the Afghanistan state is anti-islam?

Yes I think the UN is anti Isreal.

Yes but unfortunately you probably think that anyone who doesn't agree with you is anti Israel/antisemitic.

SunnyZebra · 08/10/2024 10:21

This is the definition of antisemitism that was adopted by UK government in 2016

Going back to this analogy. Why would you, as a non Jewish person, think you can say what is horses or zebras over a Jewish person?

You know what?
That is a really good point and I apologise.
I would object to a man explaining why something wasn't sexist so maybe its the same thing

Tattletwat · 08/10/2024 10:31

All these protesters wanting a hamas state. I do wonder what they think that may look like, probably something akin to Afghanistan, it ain't going to be a liberal democracy it's going to be a woman hating hellhole.

Maybe also think about which other group you’d use the horses not zebras analogy for, and if it’s only Jewish people

I appreciate your apology and recognition as you can see why it’s not right

Where has anyone called for that?

I for one have said that if true peace is to be achieved, it will include the removal of Hamas and Hezbollah.

Tell me what it would be like then, these are terrorists sponsored by women hating thugs in Iran.

This is supported by the mulllahs in Iran of course it turns out like that

Do you think the terrorists will be happy to sit back and retire.

itwasnevermine · 08/10/2024 10:37

@Tattletwat is it not islamophobic to suggest everyone in the Middle East is a terrorist and women hating?

The truth of it is is the Middle East has been destabilised by multiple foreign powers (US, UK, Russia etc.) for their own gains for many years. This is the result and something needs to be done. Again, I don’t know how that is achieved, but it is possible, other countries exist in some form of peace and peace, as well as good living conditions for those who are being displaced by the war and suffering, should be the common goal.

These terrorists are being financed and aided by Iran, which is a woman hating shithole so yes I assume it will be turned into one.

That isn't islamaphobic that is the people you are dealing with.

YANBU, at all. And it should be said more. It seems people are unable of holding two thoughts at the same time...

itwasnevermine · 08/10/2024 10:44

@Tattletwat so it's okay to generalise the entire population of Iran?

I see how it is.

FWIW, I do not think the current Iranian regime is right either. But that doesn't mean I paint all Iranians with the same brush. This is a highly nuanced issue and any peace talks will likely take years. But these talks need to begin, and soon

We don't want a Hamas state, what makes you think that? We want a Palestinian state with no interference from Israel or Hamas

And you this Hamas or Iran want that, that's cute.

Frenchvocab · 08/10/2024 10:59

Direct your anger at Iran. They refuse to see peace deals between Israel and Saudi. Stop being distracted by social media virtue signalling.

I for one have said that if true peace is to be achieved, it will include the removal of Hamas and Hezbollah.

But research from the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research & Pew Research Centre show that the majority of Palestinians support Hamas.

To remove them would go against the people's wishes, so are we saying it's ok to enforce a regime change in Gaza and oppress it's people or not?

itwasnevermine · 08/10/2024 11:05

@Shakeoffyourchains and is that support due to genuine belief in the cause, or because of what has been happening in the region for the last several decades, where they feel there is no alternative?

This did not start on October 7, and it will take a long time to sort out. But peace needs to be the aim.

Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005. In 2006 Hamas won the election and has remained in power ever since.

Of course not, but neither do Israel or they would have handed back the land they're illegally occupying

Yes and in 2009 the UN considered both Gaza and the west bank to still be occupied by Israel, and Israel still doesn't recognise the State of Palestine

I have reported this post to ask that it be moved to the CITME board where it belongs before it becomes yet another pile on.
This is yet another ingenuous post the same as one of about 3,000 posts exactly the same - all probably written by about 20 people under different names - in the last months and you will have plenty of company over there of people who think exactly like you do.

That‘s my feeling too. The majority of threads on the CITME board seem to be cliticising Israel (while often complaining about allegedly not being allowed to do that).
