@Dulra I think it's straight Islamophobia. If it was white peoples being killed there would be a lot more being done and said.

Lettherebejustice · 12/10/2024 09:44

I really do fear the North is being cleansed as Israel plans occupy it.

Flatiron · 12/10/2024 09:47

I think a lot of people are appalled, but feel helpless in the the face of international apathy. I’m sure people would love to be able to direct their anger at the situation towards something constructive, but there are no charity collections and streams of aid, like there often are for other man made or natural disasters. Because the Israelis have made Gaza is a no-go area. No journalists allowed. I wonder why?

The Israeli government have a way of shutting down every question. Lorry loads of aid stopped from entering Gaza? That’s because Hamas loot it. Dozens of civilians killed in an air strike to get one man? That’s because Hamas ‘use civilians as a human shield’. The same justifications for brutality over and over, this from a country with very sophisticated and well funded military and intelligence, more than capable of carrying out precision operations. The long game is, Israel wants the Palestinians out of Gaza and the West Bank. They’ve always been treated as unwelcome lodgers, and Israel has now seized its chance to oust them.

GoForARun · 12/10/2024 09:48

How on earth can this all be brought to a state of peace and tolerance.

I understand that at the end of the war the Jewish people had had the most horrific experience - literal Nazi death camps/ millions murdered - and were given this small piece of land (by the UK, amongst others) as a safe space for themselves.
Understandably, they want to make sure that Jews will never be that vulnerable ever again. So they have a robust national service programme and invest in plenty of state of the art weapons.
But they are surrounded by neighbours - some of who are descendants of the Arabs who were displaced to accommodate the new Israel - who hate them and want to take that land back, decades later.

Ultimately conflicts have to get sorted politically/ diplomatically. Eg I suspect that the Russia/ Ukraine was will finish up with a compromise of Russia holding onto the areas it had previously occupied. But where is the compromise in the Israel/ Arab situation?

They absolutely play on the international hatred of Muslims too. While they're targeting largely Islamic countries they have the free range to do whatever they want

Yesterday, a baby girl was injured by an Israeli strike just hours after being born. They treat the Palestinians as less than human and attempt to silence with whataboutery when people speak up.

And whilst all this is going on, we have the IDF shooting dance videos and uploading them from a school that was housing displaced civilians in Gaza. It makes me feel nauseous.

That is heartbreaking born straight into an active conflict zone what future can they possibly have

Conduct of some of the soldiers is just sick and unnecessary just rubbing salt in very deep wounds.

Lettherebejustice · 12/10/2024 10:18

The cognitive dissonance is scary. It is what enables them to act with such brutality.

Flatiron · 12/10/2024 10:20

I’m afraid Israelis are brainwashed very early on, within their education system, to think that ‘Arabs’ are ‘less than…’

I wish I could remember a post, a long time ago now, with links to a Palestinian education expert who was writing about what happens, though it may have been what happens in Palestinian text books (?) due Israeli control too.

There was also a video clip from a religious school showing children saying Arabs would be their slaves. (This must not be typical of every school though).

re the BBC article with Jeremy Bowen,
Surrender or Starve
www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1e82yy0wxno

Yes, when this hypothetical article in +972 magazine came out September 17th, I thought it was too far fetched but it turns out not.
A plan to liquidate northern Gaza is gaining steam
As Israeli ministers, generals, and academics bay for a decisive new phase in the war, this is what Operation Starvation and Extermination would look like.
https://www.972mag.com/northern-gaza-liquidation-scenario-eiland-rabi/

………

This is from Middle Eastern Eye yesterday about the same plan. Posters may not trust this source but the BBC article is talking about
the same plan.

Israel plan to expel Palestinians from north Gaza 'could last several months'
According to Israeli media report, the military is implementing a 'scaled-down' version of a plan that would effectively ethnically cleanse the area

So, can anyone doubt the true intentions of the Israeli campaign in Gaza? They’re now clearing Northern Gaza, telling everyone to go south or they’ll be fair game (not that they aren’t already). This is a land grab writ large. Palestinians will not ever be able to return to what is a virtual wasteland. What a disaster… The Israeli government can seemingly do what they like. Why do they have a free pass to kill and maim civilians and destroy the country? The world seems afraid to do anything meaningful to stop the carnage.

I saw or read an interview saying just that - IDF wants to drive everyone out of the North and anyone who stays is regarded as a terrorist. No plan for those who can't actually move like the children in intensive care from IDF bomb injuries.
And as @ScrollingLeaves posts this was the plan mentioned months ago and the settlers saying they would take the land.

EasterIssland · 12/10/2024 15:24

One year apart and the same threat. IDF can’t destroy Hamas one year after.

This is the reality of what Israel is doing (part 5)
Silence1 · 12/10/2024 15:29

I saw an interview on Chanel 4 with an ex IDF commander of some description whose name I didn't get. She was saying that Israel is the representative of the West in the ME and an attack on Israel is an attack on the West. The interviewer said many would say Israel does not share Western values with their actions in Gaza and she then disputed Gaza casualties.
I don't remember voting for the Israeli Gov to be my representative and I am sure millions of others in the West don't either.

On top of that I saw an interview with an ex or current IDF person who said they are fighting our war for us and we should be thanking them.
Clearly this is the new messaging.

Posters who spoke about the ethnic cleansing plan for the North of Gaza last year were ridiculed or even told off for thinking the worst of Israel as they wouldn't do that, stop demonising etc etc yet one year later here we are and it is now fast becoming a reality.

Ridiculous thing to say. 20% of the Israeli population are Arab / Muslim with exactly the same rights as everyone else there. There are around 400 Mosques in Israel compared to around 100 in all the Arab countries combined!!!
You know nothing about Israel and its people. Educate yourself, it's you who is brainwashed.

Lettherebejustice · 12/10/2024 17:46

Is this a joke? Whatever propaganda site you got that from, even a little common sense would make you think that can't be true.

itwasnevermine · 12/10/2024 17:48

@ThisPearlPeer13 that's not true.

There are 400 mosques in Israel.

Israeli forces have destroyed 814 of Gaza's 1245 mosques. (79%). Israeli forces have destroyed more mosques than there are in their own country.

So the Law of Return and Absentees’ Property Law applies to Arabs/Muslims too?

Meant to say 100 synagogues in the all the Arab nations combined. Google it, / Chat GPT it's not hard to find out.

itwasnevermine · 12/10/2024 17:53

@ThisPearlPeer13 and how exactly is that relevant?

Israel having 400 mosques doesn't negate the destruction of mosques in other nations?

Err, this is in response to saying Israeli kids are brainwashed into Thinking Arabs are lesser. This couldn't be further from the truth. There are around 2m Arabs citizens with EQUAL RIGHTS, living side by side. As I said you no nothing about Israelis.

100 synagogues in Arab countries. Thats c1.5 billion Arab people btw. There actually used to be Jews all over Arab lands, but they were all expelled. Something that's conveniently ignored.
