Death through starvation in Israeli prisons, tell me the difference between Israel and Hamas?

The boy died from dysentery not from being starved in prison as you imply. He was in there for throwing stones and a Molotov cocktail.

The conditions in the prison need to be investigated as they sound inhumane. They are being investigated though apparently the prison meets the minimum health standards required under Israel law (sounds like these need to be raised according to the reports of malnutrition & dysentery).

Oh and the difference between Israel and Hamas? Hamas is a terrorist organisation.

Thanks for pointing that out, it's very difficult to distinguish between the two.

Did you read the article?
"The autopsy of a Palestinian minor who collapsed and died last week in Israel’s Megiddo Prison reportedly revealed signs of starvation and medical neglect."

What do you think causes dysentery?

He was alleged to have thrown stones, however was being held under administrative detention so no trial to prove whether he did or didn't.

Martymcfly24 · 05/04/2025 09:46

International Human Rights laws dictate a prisoner should be allowed to meet their lawyer which he was denied.

Six months he was held in detention and his trial (99% conviction rate anyway) and it was delayed continuously.

When he did collapse and hit his head ,other prisoners called for the authorities they did not respond which could have saved his life.

Alleged to have thrown stones and a Molotov cocktail yes and the trial date hadn’t been set yet. Don’t know why the authorities were taking so long to set a trial date, but possibly they don’t prioritise people arrested for throwing Molotov cocktails.

Malnutrition & poor hygiene conditions cause dysentery. As I said above, the prison conditions need to be investigated ( & improved).

Go do some research on administrative detention and how long Palestinians are held under there. It's an apartheid system which only applies to Palestinians.

The Zionist entity? That's an interesting source.

I had to Google it - not exactly an impartial source.

Proper noun

the Zionist entity

  1. (Middle East, derogatory, dysphemistic) Israel, viewed by Palestinians and their supporters as an illegitimate regime ruled by Zionists.

It's concerning that a mindset that calls for destruction of Israel and it's people is supported on here, sounds a bit..genocidal, and surely nobody supports that.

Absolutely couldn't supports any idea of a genocide of the Israeli people and no sane person would.

Huge issues though with the IDF shooting aid workers and tying them up then lying about why it happened. That's is quite genocidal actions really rather than a mindset.

Let's just all agree to use reputable sources going forward.

One of those MPs is local to me and I just feel annoyed she is wasting tax payers money trying to have a trip to Israel. Why? How does that help her constituency who voted her in to represent local interests?

It says they were part of a Parlimentary delegation which means they were sent there by the PM.

She didn't go there for a jolly outing. She was sent there, imagine the shock of reaching Israel - an allied country and being denied entry. It shoes how much Israel values our government.

Yes and sorry I went off topic. Just a waste of tax payers money in my opinion sending our MPs on trips like that - plus their parliamentary aides so that’s 4 people’s expenses.

An allied country the MPs had heavily criticised… being refused entry didn’t come out of nowhere & says nothing about how much Israel values the UK alliance.

I don’t really agree. A country has to maintain foreign links with allies and to send its officials there to be better informed. No journalistic outlet is without bias.

They need that contact with our Consuls and Ambassadors posted in the country as even Consuls and Ambassadors will leave things out of cables.

They were doing a regular, preplanned trip as part of the British Governments’ operations via British charities and NGOs in the West Bank. It wasn’t a special or ad hoc trip. It’s also part of due diligence to send out MPs on these inspection type tours, because it’s our government that has to ensure no money coming from the UK via British NGOs and Charities ends up funding terrorism. I think we can all agree the West Bank is high risk for terrorism funding.

Perhaps they could have chosen more neutral parties to send.

I don’t agree they heavily criticised Israel. Their criticism of Israel was both reasonable and well founded. Too, the allegation they were there to spread anti-Israel lies was outrageous and couldn’t be further from the truth. You’d think if Israel thought their criticism was unfair, that they’d have let them in so they could see the truth of what’s going on in the West Bank and leave with a higher opinion of Israeli government policy and actions.

I don’t think that would have mattered imho. I think Israel would have turned any MPs away in a tit for tat for Lammy saying Israel was breaking international law for blocking humanitarian aid. Labour just made it easy for them to do so.

Disagree

Chair of the foreign affairs select committee Emily Thornberry MP described Israel's treatment of the two women as an "insult to our country and to Parliament".
