One country taking on so many terrorist organisations.

Or is it so many terrorist organisations constantly attacking Israel.

So many hate filled terrorists. Why don't they ever focus on their own people and a better life for them. Are they all raving mad.

The Israeli government shouldn't expect terrorists to adhere to UN resolution when they, themselves, ignore them on a daily basis.
Double standard again.

Big differenence is taht this was a security council resolution to end the 2nd Lebanon War. They are binding and enforcable unlike GA resolutions. Hence also UNIFIL.

So no, not double standards. Israel relied on implementation of this resolution when they agreed the end of the 2nd Lebanon War. Does Israel ignore any securtity council resolutions?

No of course not terrorist governments should be able to do what they want, commit genocide if they want and Israel should just bend over and let them shouldn’t they.

Why hasn’t the elected government of Gaza been indicted on charges of genocide for Oct 7th?

Or Lebanon for allowing Hezbollah to continuously fire rockets into Israel?

Double standards…,……

And yet when Israel carried out, through "covert operations", what was arguably the most targeted mass attack ever, using the exploding pagers carried by terrorists committed to eradicating Israel, some people were quick to criticise and deplore that too. (Presumably you applauded it though?)

Why, it’s almost as if in the eyes of some people Israel can never win, never be allowed to successfully defend itself…

They haven't been successful in defending themselves since 1948. Why is that? Because violence begets violence ,because all the parties involved don't want a two state solutions and never have, except maybe for Rabin and he was murdered by a Israeli extremist.
Meanwhile, innocents on both sides will carry on dying. It is shameful.

Miffylou · 01/10/2024 16:02

@Auvergne63 You may well be right about some people on both sides not wanting a two-state solution. So I can’t help wondering why all your posts are so one-sided, always implying that Israel is the one in the wrong. Israel has not fired 8000 rockets into Lebanon in the past year, but Hezbollah has fired 8000 rockets from Lebanon into Israel. Yet I haven’t noticed you criticising them. (I apologise if I’m wrong.)

If Israel laid down all its weapons, if it even withdrew from the West Bank and Gaza, do you honestly believe that the surrounding countries would leave Israelis alone to just live in peace in the only majority-Jewish country in the world? I don’t.

A quick google will answer your question. I will give you a clue though: yes.

Which binding security council resolution exactly?

You mean, " who are they"? The successive Israeli governments, obviously.

Resolution 242 in 1967/ resolution 338 in 1973/ resolution 446 in 1979/ resolution 2334 in 2016. As I said, a quick google would have answered your questions. Maybe, that is not why you asked it...
Here is a link to a very interesting article on resolution 101. It appears have been in violation of it. It never black and white.

What is the 2006 UN resolution that some hope could help to end the Israel-Hezbollah conflict?

In 2006, after a bruising monthlong war between Israel and Lebanon’s powerful Hezbollah militant group, the United Nations Security Council unanimously voted for a resolution to end the conflict and pave the way for lasting security along the border.

NumberNotRecognised · 01/10/2024 16:45

What rot. Israel has been continuously attacked since its inception but not yet annihilated, despite that being the aim of 9 wars with multiple surrounding hostile countries and incessant terrorist attacks

Violence does begets violence, yes, if you don’t crush those who want to crush you because you have one hand tied behind your back due to international pressure and a fake victim narrative peddled by monstrous terrorists. Looks like Israel is done with it now and I hope they succeed in bringing peace to the ME by dismantling the terrorist organisations left unhindered to bring chaos and terror, and getting rid of their puppeteers in Iran to free its people.

Netanyahu’s address to the Iranian people was pretty inspiring I have to say.

No one wants any more innocent civilians to be collateral damage so I hope they heed the IDF’s warnings to leave unsafe areas.

Agreed. Appalling to see the contortions people will get into to equivocate on the evil influence of Iran.

mids2019 · 01/10/2024 18:06

Well it looks like currently Iran is asking for a joint visit for the IAF and USAF. Will the regime survive a sustained response?

Yes, I agree. But I don’t think we would agree which views are the vile ones.

I note that you just ignore my point about the Hamas terror attack of a year ago, and the likely response of any country in the world to such a despicable attack. Did those murders, rapes and abductions "make you laugh"? Did you think Israel should just shrug them off and not respond? Do you not know that Hamas leaders are on record saying they welcome the "martyrdom" of Gazans? Presumably that is what they were deliberately trying to provoke, in the hope (unfortunately, partially successful) that "useful idiots" would fall for their propaganda and support them.

Your ignorance about the actions and aggressions of Hezbollah is astounding. You do know that their prime aim is the annihilation of the state of Israel, don’t you? Perhaps that is what you find so amusing.

But you did get one thing right: as a general rule Israel know exactly where to bomb. They know exactly where rockets launched into Israel have been launched from. If terrorists choose to position themselves or site their rocket launchers in civilian buildings or areas, the results are their responsibility.

Your twisted narrative is beyond ignorant. Luckily those of us with a modicum of intellect see it for what it is.

For sure there will be plenty in favour of the Iran attacks because they think Israel deserves everything it's getting. I honestly never thought that UK citizens would ever support Hamas & Hezbollah. Where was the outrage for all the horrific acts on 7th October?
