You can find a sanitised version in Western media outlets that replaces the word rape with abuse but this is the ugly truth of how Israeli soldiers treat Palestinians and how some of the Israeli mainstream excuse it.

Israel has a major problem with its far right who are quickly becoming the mainstream and unless it gets control it will continue to sink lower and lower in the eyes of the world losing all moral credibility. To excuse rape and call rapists heroes with some high ranking politicians and media outlets screaming that what these men did was justified. Open your eyes. No god, no religion, no political ideology, no one with a prick of humanity can condone gang rape. But I am sure I will see genocide apologists defending it on here.

The Palestinian man was a civilian who was being held without charge but regardless is shoving a stick up someone * repeatedly so that they lose the ability to walk anything other than savage barbarity. Disgusting.

I think if anyone supports the torture and gang rape of prisoners, or waves it away as "well, there's a war, you know", then there's something quite wrong with how that person views right and wrong.

How anyone can see the evidence of these 'torture camps' (B'Tselem's description, not my own creation) and choose to look away, is beyond me. And that's before we get to thinking about the people actively defending the perpetrators and their political enablers.

I... didn't do that.

Terrribletwos · 08/08/2024 17:24

Pretty sure Scirocco didn't do that tho?

Code4040 · 08/08/2024 17:25

No she didn't. @lionlass did.

Scirocco · 08/08/2024 17:25

Also, "[you] can do that..." - do what?

@Code4040 "You can say the rapes are wrong without saying Jews are sick monsters."

@lionlass didn't say Jews are sick monsters though

The thing with these threads I've noticed over time. Same people saying same things, usually condemning people for saying things that weren't said. Just one example below:

"I think if anyone supports the torture and gang rape of prisoners, or waves it away as "well, there's a war, you know", then there's something quite wrong with how that person views right and wrong."

Now, no one on this thread has said they support torture and gang rape of prisoners (in fact they state the opposite). No one has waved this away as 'there's a war you know'. It didnt happen. It's pretty obvious that gang rape is wrong, no matter who does it.

I think less and less people bother to engage with most of these threads because there are so many claims of things that just haven't happened or weren't actually said followed by circular arguments asking where it was said and then some random direction change and asking about something else. Then you're derailing by asking who said it 🙄

Similar yesterday on a thread, a poster suggested people don't care about killing of children. Poster was asked by several people who said it, because no one did. She couldn't and didn't respond. Just kept going round in circles and thread derailed. I mean what's actually the point with all this making up things people didn't say? Happy to join the no longer bothering to engage club henceforth. Enjoy making up things no one said and then condemning them 🤣 and then discussing how awful those imaginary posters are 🙄

Scirocco · 08/08/2024 18:02

@Kriscross I didn't say posters had said those things. 'People' does not refer only to posters on this site. There have been people, in the world, defending this. Should we not mention that?

Absolutely true.

@anotherlevel lionlass said anyone who supports the country of Israel are sick monsters. We all know who lives in Israel.

Your comment has been deleted. Please stop twisting other people’s words in order to cause confrontation. That’s not what the other poster implied.

Israel isn't made up of just Jewish people @Code4040. I would suggest you stop stirring.

Welcome to Hell: B'Tselem's Ignored Abuse Report Shows Israel's True Face

The B'Tselem report published this week, "Welcome to Hell," isn't only a report about what's happening in Israel's prison facilities; it's a report about Israel. Anyone who wants to know what Israel is should read this report before any other document about Israeli democracy.

This should have caused more outrage and condemnation. Absolutely animalistic behaviour. Disgusting

EasterIssland · 09/08/2024 07:30

One of the idf members who took part in the rape appeared in tv to defend his colleagues

The relatively limited concerns about prisoner welfare, human rights and sexual violence appear to be combining with the dehumanisation of certain demographics to result in relative apathy in the places where it matters, and the support/defence of the very people accused of these things says a lot about how a system was allowed to develop to a point where these things are happening.

ScrollingLeaves · 09/08/2024 08:44

An army that “wakes up when it needs to “ needs rapists? That is what that soldier seems to be saying.

I have just watched a video on TikTok ( not sure if I can link it) where from the same show a panellists says
"But first of all they deserve it and it's great revenge that we need to give them and secondly it may serve as a little more of a deterrent , its a shame we don't do it in an institutionalized way as part of regulations for torture of prisoners "
This is in reaction to the security video that was released.

This is the concern, that there is a rogue, thug section gradually attempting to take control of the army, police, government and society. The shock shown is not for these men doing this, but for them being arrested for it.

Thank goodness for those trying to oppose this, but sometimes at the moment it seems as though they do not have enough control.

Behold Israel! The great civilised democracy! Unless you are Palestinian.

This is a sobering excerpt from an interview with Sarit Michaeli, international advocacy lead for the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem.

‘SARIT MICHAELI: Yes, Amy. Well, I think the most important thing to clarify in terms of our response to this is that Israel is not going to hold an investigation into the conduct and into the policies in its detention centers, for the pure reason, for the obvious reasons that these are policies. They’re not the actions of rogue elements, as I said. They’re not the actions of individuals who are going against the grain. They are dictated by the management of the Israeli prison system and by the government. They are supported by these bodies. And therefore, the only options for investigations are individual cases that are either so egregious that it would be impossible for the authorities to ignore them because of international pressure or in cases where there is some sort of documentation. And that is generally, I think — when you look at the Israeli investigations, that is generally the way the Israeli authorities work. The small, isolated, token investigations cover up for broader policies.
And in this specific case, I think, from our perspective, we have, A, not appealed — we have not requested Israeli investigations; B, we do not expect any Israeli investigations to fundamentally alter the situation. What we do expect is the international community to take action. And in the report, we’ve appealed to all nations and also to all relevant international institutions to look into the situation, to make it — to make it stop. Specifically, we’ve also appealed to the International Criminal Court, because these offenses that we list in our report are war crimes. They also, we would argue, reach the magnitude of crimes against humanity. And this is the responsibility of the international community, including the United States government, to address. It’s not just an intra-Israeli issue. Certainly, the Israeli government in its current standing — I mean, it’s pretty blatantly obvious that if the Israeli government is not able to hold an investigation into such serious allegations of horrific abuse without a mob of right-wing fanatics rushing, storming into two military bases, then it’s blatant that Israel isn’t going to be able — willing or able to address this broader policy of torture, you know, by order, essentially, against Palestinians since October 7th.’

Well well well, it would appear medical exams prove rape did not occur. Wouldn't be the first time Palestinians accused Israel of crimes that turned out to be a sack of horseshit. Failed Islamic Jihad rocket in hospital car park rings a bell?

Can you post something more clear ? Also, are you saying that those idf members that have given interviews are lying ?

ps it woulnt be the first time that Israel denies something using lies. Calendar with the names of the terrorists rings a bell?
