I see the old thread is sadly almost full. I wonder how many of these I will start? 😢

I’m not agreeing with what happened to this little girl . I’m just saying it is possible she was vulnerable in school and teachers were trying to protect her.

Well if it was the reason it was a complete failure considering she is accused by the
Education Ministry officials of 'inciting against the army'

The teachers may or may not have been (although suspending someone from school generally isn't an appropriate way to do so), but the Education Ministry accusation of "inciting against the army" does the exact opposite of protecting a vulnerable child - it places her at more risk and publicly criticises her. She's 12. That's not ok.

You need to step down off your pedestal and stop being so patronising and condescending. You always seem to take that tone with me

PeasfullPerson · 26/09/2024 19:57

It’s a moral obligation to echo the stories of those who are being treated unfairly and in need of help, especially so when there are attempts to silence them.

Limesodaagain · 26/09/2024 19:57

PeasfullPerson · 26/09/2024 19:52

A very good point.

If the people in Gaza were allowed more official channels to amplify their voice and experiences, there would be less need to share their stories in places like this.

I honestly feel that too many people are not reflecting real Palestinian views but instead echoing the sentiments that Iran/Hezbollah/Hamas are spreading on social media. I think many many Palestinians are broken and destroyed by being used as a proxy by more powerful entities. Israeli government has been terrible but the Palestinians plight has been used by entities that don’t care about them any more than the Israeli government.

I 💯 agree.

The solution to this issue is simple, they should stop giving them material that can be used to further their agenda. Basically, stop killing people and blowing things up.

Yes - the Education ministry’s comment is indefensible

Do you have access to real Palestinian views? I follow a few Palestinian journalists in twitter. None of their stories is hamas propaganda. I agree with you though that Hamas and Israeli government don’t care about them and use them for their own benefit.

No I don’t have access to real views now.I have been to Gaza many years ago. The Palestinians I met were incredibly hospitable- and also cynical about the Israelis and about the “support” of other Arab countries . Like us, their main concern was the education and future of their children.

The post I was referring to with the list of people has since been deleted. As I've said numerous times to deaf ears I'm not defended the actions of the settlers 🙄

I didn't say you did so there's no need for the eye rolling. This isn't the first time you've imagined something has been said that actually hasn't.

Limesodaagain · 26/09/2024 21:29

The documentary of the Nova festival of Oct 7th is on BBC now . It’s worth watching

There are some very upsetting photographs and videos of body parts from the school bombing today on social media. They're not censored so be careful.

Absolutely shocking images.

Yes - horrific. I haven’t looked at the images. There is so much suffering.

Just seen a video of an attempted rescue of 3 little children stuck under rubble and all you can hear is their last breaths as they suffocated under the pressure of the rubble and then each disappearing and at one point you see some little fingers trembling. It's heartbreaking. Why do their lives not matter? Why is talking about these things being called an echo chamber by some?

Jesus 😭 That is hideous beyond words. Those poor little children. Fuck those fuckers who killed them.

Listening to James Elder from UNICEF on the radio from Gaza. Israel refusing to allow almost all very ill children to leave for medical treatment abroad. These are children who've had their entire faces reconstructed and the materials holding their faces together are dissolving with no further treatement available, children with such severe burns they have no more skin to graft, children who have lost limbs and there is no prosthetic limb available for them.

In one case they approved the child to travel but denied her mother. Then they applied for her uncle to accompany her instead of the mother and he was denied. So they applied again for the child to travel alone and that was turned down on the grounds that she can't travel alone. The people toying with these children's lives make me sick.

He's also saying we need Western journalists to report on what's going on and says aid restrictions and denials are ongoing.

That kind of cruelty is just so hard to accept or understand. Who gains in that situation? It is so unnecessary to treat injured children in that way, amounts to child abuse

That is unconscionable.
I cannot say what I think here.

Really not sure what on earth I have done to warrant so many deleted posts but it’s clear who has reported all my posts . I’m just not all clear why . I, and my religion, have been insulted on these threads by the poster who is now complaining about me. There are different rules for different people operating on these threads. It is not helping anyone’s cause.

Anyway - it’s a great shame so many are silenced on these threads.
