"WASHINGTON, May 20 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden strongly defended Israel on Monday, saying Israeli forces are not committing genocide in their military campaign against Hamas militants in Gaza in a rejection of criticism from pro-Palestinian protesters.
"What's happening in Gaza is not genocide. We reject that," Biden said at a Jewish American Heritage Month event at the White House.
Biden has faced protests at many of his events around the country from pro-Palestinian advocates who have labeled him "Genocide Joe" for his steadfast support for Israel.
In remarks at the White House event, Biden stressed his belief that Israel was the victim dating back to the Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel by Hamas militants who killed 1,200 people and took hundreds of hostages.
He said U.S. support for the safety and security of Israelis is "ironclad."
"We stand with Israel to take out (Hamas leader Yahya) Sinwar and the rest of the butchers of Hamas. We want Hamas defeated. We're working with Israel to make that happen," he said

And? We don't all take what the US say as proof of anything

“Israel is not fighting a terrorist organization but against the State of Gaza. Therefore, per Eiland, “Israel must not provide the other side with any capability that prolongs its life.”
When you target a state, you target their citizens.
Anyway, if Biden says it isn't a genocide, then it isn't. I shall not waste anymore of my time debating with you. I can't take your posts seriously.

That's fine by me. Those were his comments - not mine by the way. Don't you take Biden seriously?

However - my link is just as valid as yours. The difference is that I do not make comments like I cannot take your comments seriously if I do disagree with you.

I take Biden seriously as he is pretty much responsible for dictating Israeli policy.

It is. I know understand why the Israeli government is doing what they are doing. This sentence says it all:
"They should go, as should the physical homes in which they raised the snakes. Otherwise, more little snakes will be raised there.”
He is, literally advocating for the killing of children!!!!

Someone has to take him seriously. I don't because he has had so many red lines in the way the Israeli government conducts itself in Gaza that now these lines are elastic.

Well of course Biden is going to say its not genocide, USA are Israels biggest ally arent they, he can hardly turn around and say it is can he, doesn't mean it's not genocide just because Biden denies it

And what is your opinion on the words spoken in the article posted at the beginning of this thread? I am not sure why you think coming on a thread with links to different articles is debating?

Are folks literally sitting waiting to pounce on any post sympathetic to Palestine.

Of course it's genocide. You only have to look at how Israel treats Palestinians in the West Bank, where Hamas isn't in control. Or look at how Israel's actions are increasing support for armed resistance there to know its policy isn't designed to reduce the threat to Israel.

I always read these articles waiting for the bit where it talks about following outrage from the Israeli general public the now disgraced army bod/politician/person of influence was fired immediately. It never comes.

Where are the pro Israeli government posters? Why is there silence from them? Is it because this man's words cannot be defending? He is, after all, calling for a genocide.

There has been some protests in Tel Aviv, I believe, but the police has been quite swift to suppress them.

While I have compassion for a cognitively impaired elderly man likely to lose his job soon, I don't think he is the final arbiter of acceptability in this situation. Nor are the people who write the words he reads, particularly as they are not impartial or independent.

Same as when accounts of horrific torture and the killing of small children occurs... People just pretend it isn't happening and keep accusing those who care about those things of supporting terrorists and being bigoted.

That was hard to read. I don't doubt that they all think like this. It's disturbing.

Also, what is happened is clearly a genocide in my opinion. Anyone who thinks it isn't just because Israel are the ones carrying it out aren't worth talking to.
