The footage coming out of this this absolutely sickening. So many precious children killed. I've never seen anything like it. Poor innocent babies.

It's great that they managed to rescue 4 hostages (though it seems they killed others) but the human cost of that for Palestinians (and potentially other hostages) is absolutely obscene and not acceptable.

'This is what a massacre looks like': Israeli bombardment kills more than 200 in central Gaza

The Al-Aqsa Hospital has been overwhelmed by the dead and wounded arriving following the bombing.

It’s heartbreaking to see these beautiful and hopeful faces . Thank you for bringing them to our attention as individuals and not just numbers.

It is heart breaking. 😥You're welcome.

Thanks for posting it. It's heartbreaking beyond words.

I am disgusted by some of the recent things that have happened on this site, with people mocking the trauma of people in Palestine and those of us who have had loved ones in the area. I'm sickened that there are people using this for their own entertainment and for reinforcement of perceived support of racism and other bigotry. I'm also deeply saddened that behaviour which is against the terms and conditions of the site is being allowed to continue.

There is so little left to defend or justify so posters are getting more and more unreasonable and racist. Many new names so hard to know if they are new to site or name changes. You can't take anyone at face value

PeasfullPerson · 10/06/2024 16:39

There seems to be an ongoing bias where any comments which people claim to be antisemitism are removed, and inflammatory and decisive threads which target supporters of a free Palestine will clearly end in a bun fight are allowed to stand.

I agree @Dulra when there is nothing logical to say anymore then people seem
to resort to this sort of thing.

Yep. So true.

I’ve therefore decided to don’t feed the troll. There are many usernames I won’t engage a conversation with. They’re not worth my time

They should have a 'block user' option to avoid having to read some posts.

I'm really shocked there isn't one. I've looked for it several times. It's become an absolute shit show today... racism, islamophobia, homophobia all over the place. It's actually really shocking 😳

Respect and tolerance clearly aren't strengths for some.

“We are doing things that are unimaginable, and we will keep on doing things that are unimagined" - Hagari, when explaining how forces will 'create conditions' to bring hostages home.

velveteens · 10/06/2024 23:16

This is a genocide, plain and simple. It's truly horrifying that it is being allowed to continue.
It needs to stop. Now.

Gaza is a tiny strip of overpopulated land. Wherever the hostages are hidden will be close to civilians.

And when they took so many hostages they were not well aware that there would be no where to put them that didn't risk the lives of the very people they pretend to be fighting for....of course they did it was a political move to get public opinion on their side they don't care about the innocent lives they accept that as part of the cost of their plan

I suppose the answer to that quandary is don't take hostages.

I'm sure that will come as great comfort to the children who were blown to smithereens in this "operation".

You mean like this little girl who died in the attack?

The answer to the quandary of her death is "don't take hostages"?

And if your kids happened to live by a building where hostages were taken, say a bank, and they were killed in the rescue along with 200 of your neighbours and their children, you would be happy with people saying "don't take hostages"

Apologies by the way if my post is upsetting to those with relatives and friends in Palestine

I just think sometimes people making flippant callous comments about Palestinians as if even the little children are somehow responsible for Hamas should have to look at the faces of those little children whilst the do so. In the hope it might bring back some of their humanity.

LordPercyPercy · 11/06/2024 10:41

Her death is a tragedy and yes not taking hostages or committing the October 7 terrorist attack, and not then engaging the IDF rescue mission in a crowded area, would have prevented it. But that means putting some of the blame on Hamas which is apparently impossible.

You must have missed my previous post, let me just repeat my comments

*Do you mean when Palestine elected a unity government between two parties and Hamas killed or expelled members of the other party?

Or when Hamas killed its own citizens?

Or the fact there hasn't been an election for 18 years?

Or the fact that nearly half of Gazans are children?

Do you also go on threads about the Russian Ukraine war and ask why Russians haven't done more to fight Putin before? Or is it just brown people, and children, who get that demanded of them?

The problem with Palestinians = Hamas is that is ignores the fact that Hamas have killed Palestinians to get their own way.*

Nope doesn't look like blaming Hamas is impossible on this thread

But if Hamas were the whole and only issue of course the West Bank wouldn't also be suffering deaths of Palestinian civilians along with them being beaten and arrested on spurious groups.

But hey so long as we don't have a thread mourning the deaths of dead children and civilians without someone (lots of someones) coming along to smugly point out its "their own fault" then cool, I'm sure this makes your life a lot more worthwhile to have made that point. And those of us mourning dead family and friends are oh so grateful to be educated in our time of sorrow and mourning 🙄

LordPercyPercy · 11/06/2024 10:55

This is literally a thread claiming that the hostage extraction operation is a "massacre" by the IDF. It's in the title. I'm disputing that, not that the loss of civilian life is tragic, which it obviously is.

True to form, though, any disagreement about where blame should lie results in an attack on the morals/conscience of the poster in question.

How is the loss of 200 Palestinians many of them civilians and many of them children to be referred to then, if you think you are justified in tone policing grief?

And yes I do question your morals and conscience. Not because of you wanting the blame to lie with Hamas. But because you justified the death of children as if they were Hamas with your "don't take hostages."

I don't blame the children of Israel for the IDF. I'm just expecting the same for Palestinian children and unfortunately it seems that is impossible for some posters.

LordPercyPercy · 11/06/2024 11:02

Unfortunately it is true though. If those hostages hadn't been taken and held, this would not have happened. No matter how outraged you are at me stating this, these are facts.

Yes, you are right if you pretend that October 7th was the start of the issues

And that wasn't what I was outraged about. I've been very, repeated clear about that. Including blaming Hamas myself. And no matter how much you ignore that and pretend I am saying something I'm not it won't change.
