The footage coming out of this this absolutely sickening. So many precious children killed. I've never seen anything like it. Poor innocent babies.

It's great that they managed to rescue 4 hostages (though it seems they killed others) but the human cost of that for Palestinians (and potentially other hostages) is absolutely obscene and not acceptable.

'This is what a massacre looks like': Israeli bombardment kills more than 200 in central Gaza

The Al-Aqsa Hospital has been overwhelmed by the dead and wounded arriving following the bombing.

@MrsJackThornton My 12 year old wouldn't be throwing stones at armed soldiers so it's a moot point 🤷🏻‍♀️

It might be your 12 yr old, if they just saw (you) their mother being shot in the head and all they had was a stone in their hands to try and defend themselves. Maybe?

Count yourself lucky that you're not living under brutal occupation then.

Yeah thats really the key take home message from my post 🙄

Was it really that hard to empathise for one moment with a Palestinian child or parent? Just for one moment

You seem lacking in understanding what children who have been subject to attacks etc their whole life might do.

Do you really think a 12 year old with PTSD might really react perfectly in every situation? Your moot point is so very very far from the actual point.

Februaryfeels · 09/06/2024 22:07

But that's you assuming innocence of all Palestinian prisoners

That's you assuming the guilt of all Palestinian prisoners. The poster who asked about this only presumed the innocence of 4 out of 500-700 children.

Many of whom are being held before trial. Apparently innocent until proven guilty does not apply to Palestinians

In a potential survival situation, if a stone was all they had with which to defend themselves, they might well try to defend themselves. Most people would - survival is a pretty strong motivator.

Regardless of whether your 12 year old would throw stones at a soldier or not name one other democratic nation that would imprison children? Children are safeguarded and protected not arrested, they are recognised as not being at the age of criminal responsibility. 13 up yes but they are, if the crime was serious enough, such as rape or murder put in young offenders institutions not adult prisons. For a crime of throwing stones? Slap on the wrist and a fine. Why is Israel so out of step with other democratic nations on this?

I appreciate I have already answered this once, but your response that essentially boils down to "I don't care if 12 year old children are beaten, sexually assaulted and denied their rights because its not my child" to point out the rather obvious fact I should have done in my previous post

Those 12 year old children, as well as being denied the support of their legal parent or guardian also undergo the following as reported by Unicef:

Confessions from children are extracted by a mixture of sleep-deprivation, threats –of death threats against them or their families, sexual assault and solitary confinement- and physical violence. Confessions to be signed are often written in Hebrew, which most Palestinian children do not know

So you are right, if your 12 year old was Palestinian whether or not they had actually thrown stones would be a moot point. Because after being sleep deprived, beaten, sexually assaulted and put in solitary confinement they too might sign a confession in a language they didn't understand and then undergo more years of physical and sexual abuse whilst not being allowed to see you

If you really have no empathy for that, I cannot understand.

Dulra · 09/06/2024 22:33

@MrsJackThornton in any other democratic country those responsible for abusing children in that way would be arrested for child abuse and behind bars themselves

Horrendous. That is absolutely heartbreaking to read. God love those poor children. I don't know how individual Israelis can do this to children, but it seems a lot of them can.

The lack of empathy from certain posters is genuinely chilling.

Some of the IDF themselves have spoken out about it

Breaking the Silence is an NGO started by IDF veterans to speak out about the atrocities they have witnessed and/or taken part in. I'm not saying this absolves them, but I appreciate them for speaking out.

One of the things they have spoken out about is the IDFs use of Palestinian civilians as "human shields" to protect their soldiers from attack

Anyone who bleats on about "its their own fault, they knew what they were getting into etc etc" about a group of people, half of whom are children, who are killed by Hamas, and killed by the IDF simply because they were born in Gaza and caught between a fight not of their own making might like to read the word of IDF veterans who have spoken out. Perhaps their words will be more believable to some.

Please don't engage with some posters. They deliberately write what they do to either goad or spread misinformation.
It is like banging your head against a brick wall.
We will never change their minds. If everything they have heard and seen hasn't yet then nothing will. They just like to play word games in order to accuse us of antisemitism or hate speech and delete our posts.

You are right, of course. Very sad to feel the need to do this.

ConnieCounter · 10/06/2024 07:53

@BibiSuzanne you are right of course.

If anyone is still defending this there's nothing that can be said to appeal to their humanity. They clearly don't have any.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.

I'm sure someone will be along soon to explain how the young children in particular could be armed terrorists or otherwise deserving of being massacred.

But, InshaAllah, they will be reunited with their loved ones in Jannat al-Firdaus.

There are always people who choose to make excuses and make up ridiculous scenarios about child terrorists/human shields than admit that Israel is in the wrong. Also, apparently one of the people the IDF listed as a terrorist killed in the attack on Nuseirat camp, is an 8 year old boy!
