At a time when justice, empathy and integrity seem to be in short supply, a little light in the darkness.

Link to the BBC Live page covering statements announcing that the countries will recognise a Palestinian state on 28th May.

Ireland and Norway to recognise Palestinian state, with Spain to follow - BBC News

Israel's foreign ministry has warned the move will "fuel extremism and instability".

I was not responding to you @ConnieCounter
In fact, I do not wish to engage with you at all.

Interesting seeing as your post answered the exact question I asked 😂

AhNowTed · 05/07/2024 22:51

@keenforhelp

Why bother restarting a more than month old thread if you're not prepared to engage.

Without shutting down the discussion you prolonged, with claims of "hectoring".

Seriously if you can't stand the scrutiny, don't restart the thread.

Again:

As long as Palestinians are being ethnically cleansed from the West Bank, by violent settlers aided and abetted by the IDF. Israel will never have security.

As long as right wing Israeli ministers are calling for the WB and Gaza to be ethnically cleansed, Israel will never have security.

As long as Israel bulldozes their homes and steals their land, Israel will never have security.

As long as Palestinians are being bombed to oblivion, Israel will never have security.

As long as Palestinians have literally nothing left to lose, Israel will never have security.

Do you stilll not get it?

keenforhelp · 05/07/2024 23:01

I will comment on any thread as I please. I do not have to respond to anybody I choose not to.
I disagree with everything you say and do not support recognition of a state controlled by a terrorist organization .

Do you still not get that?

Sure, I get that if you ignore everything that is happening to the Palestinians, the genocide, the apartheid, the violent settlers, the bulldozing of their homes, the stealing of their land. All aided and abetted by the Israeli government.

Sure, if you ignore all that, you will disagree with me.

keenforhelp · 06/07/2024 00:46

I disagree with your opinions as they are not facts.

Just rhetoric .

If you can't be bothered to actually read the countless accounts by Israeli organisations, in Gaza and the West Bank, not my rhetoric, actual accounts by Jewish Israelis, I have no idea why you keep posting here.

"Rhetoric"

Right wing Israeli ministers are calling for the WB and Gaza to be ethnically cleansed.

Surely you don’t need a link to this, I mean come on. Been posted many times on MN. It's late but I'm happy to link tomorrow.

Israel bulldozes their homes and steals their land.

These are accounts by Israelis.

AhNowTed · 06/07/2024 02:17

Why I bother with you though I don't know.

keenforhelp · 06/07/2024 02:34

I am Israeli and much more aware of the situation than what you think you know from random links.
KYour last comment was rude and inflammatory .

It doesn’t always happen that I’m proud to say I’m Spanish (aka I’m basque) or proud of my government. But I’m so happy that the government currently in place is a left one and they’ve decided to join SAs case in ICJ as well… wish more EU countries would join,

Spain becomes first EU state to back ICJ genocide case against Israel

Spain has been a strong supporter of Palestinians, calling Israel’s war on Gaza a genocide and recognizing Palestine as a state

If you believe they are not facts, then produce evidence to the contrary. This is how we debate. Opinions backed by facts from reputable sources ( Reuters, from example).
I am also pleased to see that you have not used the term "inflammatory", in this post. It makes a welcome change.

He is asking for a hostage release . Obviously Hamas ain't gonna agree.
And new boy dummy lammy can call for what he wants .
No way Israel quits before the job is done.

79Helene · 06/07/2024 16:02

@keenforhelp Surely a ceasefire is what most of us want to see? Not sure Lammy is saying anything controversial or what makes him a dummy boy. He said "I will do all I can diplomatically to support Joe Biden in bringing about that ceasefire.” Hopefully that entails securing the release of remaining hostages.

A promising first-step for the new Labour Government I would have thought

Yes I want a ceasefire when the hostages are released and Israel"s security - my security and all my country people assured .
Where did I say I do not want a ceasefire?
Is that not what you want?

Lammy needs to condemn Hamas and promote Israels security .

Auvergne63 · 06/07/2024 16:26

He also needs to condemn the Israeli government's actions in Gaza:

  1. the indiscriminate carpet bombing of civilians.
  2. the deliberate withdrawing of the basics necessities for life.
  3. the deliberate targeting of relief workers/ journalists/hospitals/mosques/ churches/ schools/ etc.
  4. the deliberate erasing of the Palestinian culture. This "war" is not one sided. Hamas and the Israeli government have/ are committing war crimes/ crimes against humanity. I am sure you can see that.

Edited

What does assuring the security of your country people look like to you? I don't know if you're in England but am assuming you mean here.

Is that not what you want?
I think it was pretty clear from my post I want a ceasefire (I have done since last year). I actually care very deeply about the security of Israel and Israelis. I don't care whose fault this is but personally I blame Hamas - their wider aims and what they have unleashed terrifies me, including the fact they're presented as a resistance group by ignorant twats, many who are deeply antisemitic. But the killing of innocent civilians needs to stop, the scale of which is something I don't find justifiable. And a ceasefire can only happen if Israel commits to more serious diplomatic attempts to achieve that. So a bit more pressure from the UK in the form of the new Foreign Sec wouldn't go amiss, although will probably have little effect.

Lammy needs to condemn Hamas and promote Israels security .
Lammy has condemned Hamas and spoke about the need for Israel's security. This is from last year but he has also done so since and I personally believe he is sincere on that.

Wrong assumption . I am Israeli and in Israel.

600 of.my family were murdered in the Shoah.

Lammy has supported the anti Semitic arrest of Bibi.

I do not want my country to lay down their arms before we are sage.

In what way, is the arrest warrant ( if issued) against Netanyahu antisemitic?
Is the one against Hamas islamophobe?
Frankly, this is becoming surreal.
To be honest, I don't expect an answer because this is not a debate, is it?
