@Scirocco has explained for me.
But maybe you would like further clarification.
The Israeli government is in charge of Israel- it’s a defined entity elected into power democratically . It’s not some random association of terrorist groups or crazy individuals with overlapping aims and objectives. It has agreed a shared policy and this government is responsible for the consequences of its policies.
It is well documented that the defence minister has referred to the Palestinians as “animals”. His defenders say he only meant Hamas, not civilians but the actions of the government show otherwise. In fact animals would be treated with more respect- even in abattoirs where animals are killed deliberately, measures to reduce suffering and promote dignity are taken.
The defence minister’s comments did not occur in isolation or on the spur of the moment, they were said against a background of similar comments from multiple individuals over a long period of time-“beasts”, “rats” , “lice”,
“dogs”. I won’t go on for risk causing further offence which I regret as my earlier post was very insensitive to the victims. However ,the list includes a virtual menagerie of hate speech comparing Palestinians to various animals over the years.
There is a longstanding pattern of right wing Israeli comments comparing Palestinians to animals. This indicates that there is toleration of a cultural attitude that Palestinians can be regarded as subhuman, that their lives are of lesser value than Israeli lives and that they are essentially disposable in order to achieve the government objectives.
The impact of the current IDF actions on the civilian population is either
(a) intentional in that they are either the primary or subsidiary / secondary target or
(b) accidental or unintentionally affected.
If it is (a), this demonstrates genocidal intent.
If it is (b) one would expect proportionate evidence of remorse and measures to mitigate the impact and compensate those who are affected.
We do not see the latter so can conclude that this absence of expressof remorse is evidence of genocidal intent.
