From Haaretz
Defense Minister Gallant told a Knesset panel that the IDF has "killed or wounded 60 percent" of Hamas' forces in Gaza, and "dismantled 25 battalions or the vast majority of them."

That is a rate of 6.6 % a month. So killing or wounding the remaining 40% could mean the IDF finishing their task in another 6 months. Another 25,000 Palestinians to be killed, mostly civilians, if the usual rate continues. That is if they are correct about 60% of Hamas dead or wounded so far.

According to IDF soldiers speaking of their experiences in a +972 report, they tend to say every male they kill is a Hamas terrorist. In one instance two separate IDF groups each individually chalked up the same Hamas kills. Over-counting deaths as Hamas deaths may be the reason why so many Hamas are apparently still fighting even after nine months of being bombed, and shot, and 38,000 thousand
bodies mounting up.

@ScrollingLeaves That’s really interesting, the disparity between the numbers they identified as ‘terrorists’, the numbers they claim to have killed, and the number they believe to be left, could be illuminating.

The disparity could be due to, as you say, and which wouldn’t be surprising given everything that’s been said and reported, an over estimate in the number of Hamas killed. It could also be due to an underestimate based on poor intelligence, which would be better, but still bad.

What’s a +972 report?

It’s a website. I believe the report the other poster is talking about is the one I posted as a thread “im bored so I shot” tho it might be a different one. They’ve reported several times IDFs actions

Yes, it was @EasterIssland and thank you for posting it. Would you re-post it here for Peasfull to read? I also mentioned it in relation to the harm caused by this war to IDF soldiers themselves in another thread.

The numbers are completely fudged by the IDF, just like when the IDF reported that they'd cleared the north of Gaza, only to leave and a couple of days later for Hamas to begin firing rockets again, rinse and repeat for other areas too.

What Gallant can't account for are the new recruits to Hamas, according to some reports on the ground, Hamas has a lot of new recruits, mainly people who have lost everything.
I think similar to the true number of IDF casualties, the figures will be wildly different when analysed in the future.

Seen on the Al Jazeera English news this morning.

In the West Bank the Israelis control the Palestinians’ water and divert it for the illegal settlements. Every year they reduce it more. Ancient ponds and springs are now dry or barely running.. The Israeli settlers have taken six times as much water as the Palestinians have to use. This last year alone the Palestinians’ water was reduced again by a third by Israel.

It is very difficult for the Palestinians to water their crops.

Haaretz ( Israeli news) today.

^Fighting in Gaza, IDF Tank Officer Who Shelled Kibbutz House on Oct. 7 Says 'I Had No Choice'*

On October 7, Col. Nissim Hazan took control of a damaged tank and drove it to Kibbutz Be'eri where, for two whole days, he battled Hamas terrorists. It was there that he fired a shell at the home of Pessi Cohen. He tells Haaretz that he did not know there were hostages inside. 'We needed to shake things up that day,' he says.

In this particular case he says he did not know hostages were inside. ( Though I don’t know how he could he have thought there definitely were not Israelis inside.)
