"emotive hyperbolic rhetoric" is an interesting way to describe forced starvation of a population. I prefer genocide.

Efacsen · 06/03/2024 10:01

Littlebowiepeep · 06/03/2024 09:54

Still, it hasn't come back to court has it?

Until there's a resolution/ruling I'm not going to get involved with speculations and emotive hyperbolic rhetoric.

Where is the emotive hyperbolic rhetoric in my post?

Why the throwing of insults?

If you think it's going to taken 5 or 6 years [til the ICJ makes it's final ruling] for other experts in genocide to decide if plausible genocide has moved to actual genocide then you are very naive

ConnieCounter · 06/03/2024 10:01

Littlebowiepeep · 06/03/2024 09:59

You have made a couple of unproved assumptions. viz that "millions" are starving, and that it is "deliberate".

I'm not going to lose sleep over speculations.

There is so much misinformation coming out of Gaza it isn't possible to know what the answers are.

No doubt the ICJ will review the situation at some stage.

So you think everyone is lying about Israel blocking the aid then? You just don't believe it's happening because you don't like the idea of it happening?

Fair play to you, you must have a strong stomach not to lose sleep over babies and children starving to death because of a state deliberately blocking the movement of food and water. Jesus Christ.

Littlebowiepeep · 06/03/2024 10:05

@Efacsen 'Where is the emotive hyperbolic rhetoric in my post?'

I never mentioned your post - but hey, if the cap fits....

"If you think it's going to taken 5 or 6 years [til the ICJ makes it's final ruling] for other experts in genocide to decide if plausible genocide has moved to actual genocide then you are very naive"

I never said anything about 5/6 years. What are you talking about ??

Are you going to lose sleep over the Ch4 footage of starving children and dead babies or are you going to going to wait until the ICJ issue a ruling?

Are you normally so cold hearted?

Do you think you're in the playground with silly come backs like that - it'll be the silly emojis next

The ICJ is nortoriously slow but thorough in making it's final judgements hence the 5-6 years timescale

It's not me who doesn't know what I'm talking about you don't seem to have much idea about how the ICJ works and who else can confirm genocide

OK fine.

No point in me engaging then is there?

Have a nice day.

I'm sorry you feel so confused by it all.

It much be difficult to be in such emotional turmoil.

What a sick post. Most of us feel the same way, and we are not confused at all. Despair yes, because we could very well be on the edge of WW3 and nuclear war. And we are sick with worry about what will happen to our children and for some, grandchildren.

WW3 and nuclear war?

In the Middle East?

First I've heard about it.

I believe that Putin's gone a bit cray-cray but even so I don't think nuking Tel Aviv is very high on his list of priorities 🙄

Always the same can't intelligently argue the point

So just sling insults instead

PeasfullPerson · 06/03/2024 11:05

@Efacsen fits in nicely with the IDF culture of snarky comments and lack of respect for the gravity of a serious situation.

Efacsen · 06/03/2024 12:47

Well this isn't a surprise

Israel has again insisted that the failure to get humanitarian aid into Gaza is being caused by issues with supply, rather than any delays caused by Israeli inspections.

Al Jazeera reports that speaking on Israel’s I24NEWS, Shimon Freedman, a spokesperson for the Israeli COGAT unit, said “Israel is inspecting more aid than the international community can distribute. The real issue is for the organisations to increase their capacity so we can see more humanitarian aid making its way to the people of Gaza.”

Also this again

This was agreed by Israel weeks ?months ago. Why does it only ever get talked about as some great new initiative but never actually happens? There are warehouses of EU aid already in Cyprus whats happening to it? Is it like the huge US flour donation above

EU working on creating maritime humanitarian corridor to support people in Gaza

European Commission president Usrula von der Leyen is due to travel to Cyprus later this week as the bloc is working towards establishing a possible humanitarian corridor in support of the population in Gaza through the Mediterranean island, her spokesperson said on Wednesday.

“Our efforts are focused on making sure that we can provide aid to Palestinians,” the spokesperson said during a briefing with journalists, reports Reuters. The spokesperson added: “We all hope that this opening [of the corridor] will take place very soon.”

It could come from either. But Netanyahu has been talking about nuclear strikes, and if he starts, we are all done for.

fleurneige · 06/03/2024 13:12

'Israeli minister Amichai Eliyahu says nuclear attack on Gaza is 'an option'
While the Israeli military pounds Gaza without relent, Israel's far-right Minister for Heritage has said that a nuclear attack on Gaza is 'an option'.

Netanyahu later dismissed him and his comments- but many believe this threat and later denial were totally calculated to have the expected effect, and very much supported by Netanyahu.

It really isn't impossible most grown adults are able to work out what's fact and what's misinformation but go back to sticking your head in the sand waiting for your resolution from the ICJ in a few years time

Emotive hyperbolic rhetoric.
Emotive? When it comes to watching the horrors the Palestinians are subjected to every minute of every day, this makes me emotional. When I read about the massacres of the Israeli civilians on 07/10, this also made me emotional.
I have empathy for my fellow human beings, I can't help it. I was brought up that way.
Hyperbolic? You mean that us, supporters of humanity as well as law experts all over the world, are exaggerating what is happening in Gaza? We witness the cruelty of the Israeli government through our television on a daily basis. We are lucky to live in a country where we don't have to watch our loved ones dying of their injuries, of starvation or diseases, brought on by men and women intent on destroying, by any means, people they views as sub humans. Their words, not mine.
Rhetoric? Trust me, I am sincere when I say I believe that we are witnessing a genocide in progress. It is only a question of time before it is declared a genocide, time the Palestinians don't have.

anotherlevel · 06/03/2024 17:06

I'm not sure where to post this so apologies if this is the wrong place.

“We heard the constant shelling and bombing getting closer and closer and could already see all the stones flying around and the rubble and shrapnel. It was closing up on us to the point where the Hamas guards put mattresses over us on the floor to cover us, and then they covered us with their bodies to protect us from our own forces’ shooting.”

-Yam Almog-Goldstein, former Israeli captive in Gaza.

Death toll from starvation has risen to 20

Health Ministry: Two more Palestinians die of starvation
A 15-year-old child died at al-Shifa Hospital and a 72-year-old man died at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, as a result of malnutrition and dehydration, Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra says in a statement.

“We believe that dozens are dying silently as a result of starvation without reaching hospitals,” he said.
