El-Kurd is Back... after his impassioned speech at the protest where he 'misspoke'

www.jpost.com/israel-hamas-war/article-789057

What's his excuse this time?

I think it would be great if pro-Palestinian groups were to denounce his comments and clarify that he doesn't represent them or their cause in any way, shape or form. Make it clear once and for all that it's peace they're after, not more killing. There's a great opportunity for them here to make their opinion known, to show that they're not marching to intimidate anyone.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 28/02/2024 10:05

What a vile individual.

Xenia · 28/02/2024 10:17

He said "We must normalise massacres as the status quo". That is quite a call for violence in my view from Mr El-Kurd.

How many posters do we think we'll see tomorrow saying something about their support for Galloway?

I'm guestimating, a ' small minority'

@CatsKnowTheAnswer that Everyone has a strong word with, educates them and packs them on their way after they realise the error of their ways.

I’ll be at the March today and anyone with a moral compass who is against the senseless slaughter of children by Israel should be too. I’ll be taking my 3 children with me as I have done on all previous Marches I’ve attended so they can see that humanity doesn’t have a race or religion. The marches I’ve attended have been beautiful , peaceful gatherings of individuals of all races and beliefs including many lovely people from the Jewish community who are completely against the slaughter of children. Antisemitism has no place in the Palestinian cause and if I were to see anything antisemitic I would call it out ( as I have done on a Facebook forum in the past ) but up to now I haven’t seen anything antisemitic . Critiscism of Israel’s actions are not anti semitic just as criticism of The Saudi government does not make you islamophobic . I urge everyone who has a heart to go out today and protest against the slaughter of children . The images of children being blown to pieces by Israel has to stop

kirinm · 02/03/2024 08:10

@Humdingerydoo are you debouching the Israeli government and the IDF?

kirinm · 02/03/2024 08:10

*denouncing

@Humdingerydoo are you debouching the Israeli government and the IDF?

Why on earth are you asking me that? What's that got to do with anything I've said? How random. Are you just looking for an argument or something?

stomachamelon · 02/03/2024 09:42

@Humdingerydoo Hmm

@Humdingerydoo why should pro-Palestinian marches denounce anyone? They're not associated with the protestors making unpleasant chants. Don't ask people who have nothing to do with any of the racism or antisemitism on the marches to denounce anyone. People are allowed to march.

kirinm · 02/03/2024 10:07

You said this:

'think it would be great if pro-Palestinian groups were to denounce his comments and clarify that he doesn't represent them or their cause in any way, shape or form. It's not your job to denounce anyone and it's not any marchers job to denounce anyone to prove they're not trying to intimidate anyone. Quite clearly the majority aren't trying to intimidate anyone but can see the slaughter and starvation of thousands of people which is being ignored by their government and they want to do something. Anything.

Please remind me where I asked for anyone to denounce anyone? Or even asked them not to march?

Ah ok edited as I thought you were talking about my most recent post about Galloway. But no, you're talking about El-Kurd who has previously attended marches and given speeches. That's why I thought it would be good for people who march to speak out against him now.

Humdingerydoo · 02/03/2024 10:14

What I mean is, if he's given speeches at marches he's clearly some kind of "face of the march". I guess I assumed people who want peace wouldn't want someone who is upset he's not allowed to hijack a plane to be one of the faces of their cause.

Beginning to think that the envelope has been pushed so far that anything goes...

I highly doubt the average Mumsnetter or average person is there to hear him speak. Owen Jones (who I detest) was always talking at pro-EU marches and I literally never considered him the face of the march.

And given the number of people, including here on Mumsnet, who think Galloway's election is great because Gaza, I'm sure no one will say a word of objection

stomachamelon · 02/03/2024 11:04

@kirinm if you are on a March where one of the guest speakers is promoting terrorism then I would expect you (if you Don't feel the same) to either make your feelings clear or not Attend.

Or both.

The people who take their children whilst people spew hatred and talk about 'resistance' are misguided at best.

Please report back on how it went/what you saw.
It all helps to have on-site reports back as an antidote to various press horror shows which is all many have to go on.
Of course if you see any trouble/anti semitism, also report that.
I plan to be at another one soon.

kirinm · 02/03/2024 12:52

@Februaryfeels where are all the George Galloway fan posts?

Well done to the protestors of Tel Aviv.

Just got back , peaceful , didn’t see any antisemitic slogans . From children to the elderly , all races and religions ( I would say the Muslim community was hugely under represented which saddened me as I feel they’re not coming out as much as they initially did and other communities are now more represented .)
A huge feeling of Peace, unity and love with one thing in common, wanting an end to the senseless bloodshed. Had a laugh with a few ladies at the end ( all pensioners) about were supposedly we’re all terrorists according to the media. I’m sure there were some people that misbehaved but we didn’t see any and they would hugely be in the minority but the media looks for them and plasters those images in the papers . I was explaining to my children that this is how women got the vote , by protesting. It’s part of British culture and it’s disgraceful listening to Rishi lecturing us on democracy whilst trying to silence us .
