@Cherryon I momentarily forgot about the water.
If I do come across any initiatives that focus on baby formula then I will share.
As I know most charities just mention food but I don't know how much of that includes formula.

Six children died last night due to dehydration and starvation at Al Shifa.
I am sure there are more Gaza-wide, including infants.

I'm long past the stage infant feeding but isn't there pre-prepared formula in cartons these days? I've seen 'baby milk' on the lists of humanitarian aid from different countries but no idea how it comes

"MORE VIDEOS FROM THE BIGGEST MASSACRE - THE HUMANITARIAN AID MASSACRE

Scenes of the Israeli targeting of thousands of hungry civilians, who gathered at Al Nabulsi roundabout to receive humanitarian aid.

Medical sources pointed out that most victims were targeted directly in the head or chest, aiming at killing them.

Meanwhile, eyewitnesses stated that Israeli tanks rammed the dead bodies of some victims at the beach.

Ministry of Health:

“The death toll from the massacre on Al Rashid Street has risen to 81 victims, while around 700 citizens were injured.

Dozens of injuries range from serious to critical, which may increase the number of fatalities to over 100.”"

Parkingt111 · 29/02/2024 12:53

@Efacsen oh I didn't know about that. Pre-pepared formula would be the best option in this instance

Sadly Parking I think things are so desperate now that even if ready mixed formula made it's way into Gaza it would be unlikely to reach the babies who needed it. It would be clean fluids and calories for whoever got to it first.

The cruelty of the situation in Gaza is hard to witness.

There is, but humanitarian aid doesn’t usually provide it as it is far more expensive than the dehydrated powdered form. One of the issues with the aid going in is that a lot of food has been flour, lentils, rice, dried beans all of which need water to cook or safely eat (ie beans have to be soaked).

Parkingt111 · 29/02/2024 12:58

This is one witness testimony that's been reported on AP

Kamel Abu Nahel, who was being treated for a gunshot wound at Shifa Hospital, said he and others went to the distribution point in the middle of the night because they heard there would be a delivery of food. “We’ve been eating animal feed for two months,” he said.
He said Israeli troops opened fire on the crowd, causing it to scatter, with some people hiding under cars. After the shooting stopped, they went back to the trucks, and the soldiers opened fire again. He was shot in the leg and fell over, and then a truck ran over his leg as it sped off, he said

Parkingt111 · 29/02/2024 13:02

I have seen the videos of the aftermath and it looks like a massacre, piles of dead bodies being taken away on donkey driven carts. I won't share the video here but I think as more details emerge, it's clear that this is a major incident.

Parkingt111 · 29/02/2024 13:09

The IDF have released a video and have said people died from pushing and trampling and also firing. In the video Its not one big crowd but spread out with some groups more dense. It's a bit blurry. It's birds eye view but it doesn't look like the crowd that dozens die through a stampede

I wish I hadn't read the comments below that article. The hate that some people have for Palestinian civilians is terrifying. Sickening in some cases.

Efacsen · 29/02/2024 13:14

@Parkingt111 agree it's a major incident and is now being condemned internationally and being called a 'massacre'

I had to look. I took one screenshot for an example. Very hateful.

This is the reality of what Israeli is doing.
whatsitcalledwhen · 29/02/2024 13:23

@Cherryon

The Hansolo exchange on there nearly made me cry in its complete lack of humanity. Even about babies, all that is there for some people is hatred. The people who hold that much hatred for them in their hearts don't just not care about a Palestinian death, they see each of them as a victory. Literally like ants under their boots. It's horrific.

Parkingt111 · 29/02/2024 13:24

"A Humanitarian Aid Massacre happened in Gaza today.

Hungry Palestinians gathered waiting for food aid.

Israel shot them.

This wasn't aerial bombardment. This was a ground-level assassination.

104 innocent civilians were killed."

Aerial footage of the latest massacre.

Efacsen · 29/02/2024 14:42

This sort of thing being said used to be 'beyond belief'

Israel’s Ben-Gvir says aid delivery to Gaza endangers soldiers, must stop

Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir says the provision of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza endangers Israeli soldiers and must stop, after more than 100 Palestinians were reported killed while attempting to get aid in Gaza City.

“Today it was proven that the transfer of humanitarian aid to Gaza is not only madness while our hostages are held in the Strip… but also endangers IDF soldiers,”

Ben-Gvir said, adding that the deliveries were “oxygen to Hamas”.
The incident is “another clear reason why we must stop transferring this aid,” he wrote on X.

@inkworks273 there is more than one perspective and ways of looking at that footage surely?

Al-Shifa Hospital overwhelmed by number of patients

By Ismail al-Ghoul in Gaza City

I’m inside al-Shifa Hospital and the entrance and corridors are packed with victims from the attack earlier on the crowd waiting for aid deliveries.

The medical staff stand helpless amid the influx of victims. More are still being brought in even if the hospital is overwhelmed.

Were they killed because of stampede or shit by idf as firstly it was recognised by idf? I’ve seen a few news by stampede in the last few years and they’ve never been 100 and 700 injured (and in open space like this one)

Parkingt111 · 29/02/2024 15:15

@EasterIssland this is from sky right now

The White House is looking into reports of Israeli fire on Palestinians waiting for aid near Gaza City, describing it as a "serious incident."
"We mourn the loss of innocent life and recognise the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where innocent Palestinians are just trying to feed their families," a National Security Council spokesperson said.

There's a new version from the IDF claiming they only shot 10 people and the rest were run over by 'civilian truck drivers'

Also a tweet from Al Jazeera Arabic with footage claiming to show the first shots fired by the IDF - having trouble copying it here

It's all as clear as mud

stomachamelon · 29/02/2024 15:20

@EasterIssland there was also an Egyptian aid driver murdered by looters yesterday.

I am not saying the IDF didn't fire. I am just saying it's not very clear what happened yet and we should wait.

The IDF are admitting to killing 10 people [see above] even if you don't agree

Are you sure the Egyptian driver was killed in Gaza? Can only see reports of this from Sudan

LilaDidIt · 29/02/2024 15:42

Meanwhile, in the West Bank where Israel is not fighting Hamas, they've stolen 650 acres of Palestinian land which will now be designated part of Maale Adumim settlement, east of Jerusalem. (Source: Reuters)
