The accounts of the Tantura massacre were repeatedly denied by Israel. The multiple testimonies (from Israelis as well as Arabs) were considered flawed because they were oral only. No one (funnily enough) had filmed themselves committing the alleged massacre or noted it down in their diaries and the Palestinians didn’t have a chance to summon a journalist as the alleged massacre was taking place.

Nowadays we have social media. Denial is a lot more difficult, though it’s still blatantly taking place.

Snowypeak · 28/02/2024 08:12

Not saying Israel is the only country that has ever performed massacres. They’re just one of the first to be caught doing it on social media while attempting to blatantly lie about it. Tough shit!

A toddler has died due to poisoning after having to eat animal feed. There is a special place in hell for every single person enabling this.

Aid having to be air dropped into the WATER because Israel won't let it through any other way. Palestinians having to scramble out to sea to try and recover it. Abhorrent.

ConnieCounter · 28/02/2024 09:07

I just can't believe that an occupying force in 2024 is deliberately starving a civilian population and no one is stopping it. It's evil.

I have as much right to be here as you do on the 'standing up for Israel' thread so I am good ta.

Of course, you do, but as I have been told to leave the thread you mentioned because I fundamentally disagree with what is said, I thought I would return the favour. After all, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Don't you agree?

BelleHathor · 28/02/2024 09:26

Thank you for Jordan having the foresight to add a clause reserving the right to perform Airdrops in Palestine in their agreement with Israel.

I follow the group that has been campaigning/ lobbying the Jordanian government to do this. The King's son or daughter has accompanied the pilots on previous drops to prevent the IDF potentially"accidentally" hitting a Jordanian plane.

Thank you for that @BelleHathor I've wondered how Jordan 'got away' with doing the air-drops

There was also the somewhat strange business a while ago when Jordan erected a field hospital and was almost immediately told to take it down -Jordan ignored this and took a few tanks to the Israel-Jordan border after which it all went quiet and the field hospital remains

Efacsen · 28/02/2024 09:42

Sorry that was a big long edit

BelleHathor · 28/02/2024 09:48

No problem at all @Efacsen. The clause is the reason why when the UK did a drop the other day they "commandeered" Jordanian planes.
I don't believe Egypt has a similar clause, hence their inactivity.

@BelleHathor thank you I'll have a look

stomachamelon · 28/02/2024 09:53

@Auvergne63 doesn't mean you pay any attention does it? like I said I am good ta.

I was just exposing the double standard, which is rife on some threads. Glad you are good. Carry on posting here.

In the last 24 hours both Oxfam and Save the Children have made strong statements about Israel withholding food aid from starving Palestinians

Also al Ansari the spokesman for the Qatari FM has made a similar statement

?Maybe having some small impact as IDF says that 33 trucks of food aid were allowed into northern gaza yesterday and overnight - not verified

No problem, your theory is correct. They tried to force Jordan to take down the field Hospital and Jordan said Nope pointing to the agreement, with the tanks as "insurance". It's extremely difficult when dealing with a neighbour who doesn't respect rules and law.

Thanks again - it was one of those perplexing episodes where it went out of the news at the point of 'tanks at the border' and only became evident that the field hospital was still standing when it was attacked in an airstrike a week or so later - it was only partially damaged

There have been a few things like this that have left me thinking 'well what was that about?'

I was interested in what you were saying about Egypt not contributing to the air drops and wrongly assumed that they are too poor to have much of an air-force but see that they have the biggest airforce in the ME with nearly twice as many planes as Israel!

Snowypeak · 28/02/2024 11:38

10th largest army in the world, I am told by an Egyptian. No idea if that’s correct.

Presumably they don’t want a wider war, and also can’t afford to take in 2 million permanent, deeply traumatised, extra citizens all at once. So they are keen to avoid inflaming things atm.

Snowypeak · 28/02/2024 11:41

Especially as some Israelis have spoken about (and displayed maps of) Greater Israel extending from the Euphrates to the Nile. Perhaps, given that rhetoric, Egypt may fear that if they try to intervene, they’ll have “started a war” with Israel which will then justify Israel killing thousands of Egyptians and taking their land.

Snowypeak · 28/02/2024 11:56

Greater Israel
I’m aware that Greater Israel was seen by many as the ravings of deluded right wing nutters who were not part of mainstream Israeli government. Yet here we are…

That's nonsense.

The packages were dropped by the Jordanian Airforce and were waterproof.

More evidence that international pressure is having an impact?? Or IDF now claiming to be part of the solution to the problem they've created?? Or a tipping point in their calorific control over Gaza has been reached??

IDK but pleased to see some people will eat - at least today

IDF tweet
''160 packages of food and medical equipment were airdropped into southern Gaza and the Jordanian field hospital in Khan Yunis. This was part of international cooperation between Israel, the USA, the UAE, Jordan, Egypt and France.

The move was carried out with the International Cooperation Division of Strategic Planning, @cogatonline, the 98th division of the IDF and the IAFsite ''

This is a tweet from the Israeli film maker that won the award the other day

“A right-wing Israeli mob came to my family’s home yesterday to search for me, threatening close family members who fled to another town in the middle of the night. I am still getting death threats and had to cancel my flight home. This happened after Israeli media and German politicians absurdly labeled my Berlinale award speech - where I called for equality between Israelis and Palestinians”

it’s much longer in the tweet

https://twitter.com/yuval_abraham/status/1762558886207209838

Completely ridiculous. It isn’t antisemitic to speak out against the oppression and mistreatment of Palestinian people.

Is every place in the world now going to come up with their own term that can be liberally thrown around to try and stop any discussion that criticises them? I’ve already seen ‘Anti-West’ used a few times on here. A government that can’t tolerate criticism or fully examine its on failings is a dangerous and incompetent one.

"This happened after Israeli media and German politicians absurdly labeled my Berlinale award speech – where I called for equality between Israelis and Palestinians, a ceasefire, and an end to apartheid – as ‘antisemitic.' The appalling misuse of this word by Germans, not only to silence Palestinian critics of Israel but also to silence Israelis like me who support a ceasefire that will end the killing in Gaza and allow the release of the Israeli hostages – empties the word antisemitism of meaning and thus endangers Jews all over the world."

It’s ludicrous that people who want equality, have to keep defending themselves from people who think it’s OK to drop bombs on and starve innocent civilians.

I'm sure I saw something about Egypt dropping aid into Gaza with helicopters. Will have a look and see if I can find it.

Thanks that's good news

Plus the IDF tweet above also credited Egypt

One way or another matters seem to have come come to a crunch over the last 48 hours
