"Israelis block aid to Gaza and celebrate by setting up a bouncy castle and eating popcorn and cotton candy"

My god.

My god.

I just came off instagram because I can't bear to see another dead baby or dead small child. Or confused looking orphans.

Then I see this.

Grotesque beyond words.

LilaDidIt · 24/02/2024 11:43

I'll never look at a Bouncy Castle the same again. "Remember when those guys set up a Bouncy Castle to celebrate their neighbors starving to death?"

inkworks273 · 24/02/2024 12:37

The callousness is mind boggling.

Is the blocking of aid actually related to the bouncy castle, or has the Instagram poster just personally compiled this contrast of the awfulness of the blocking of aid to starving and ill Palestinians against the back drop of safe, oblivious, well-fed Israelis (whose State have been killing the Palestinians) setting up a party?

On Thursday, demonstrators at Kerem Shalom set up a giant bouncy castle at the entrance where aid trucks are supposed to pass through. In a dawn video distributed Thursday on WhatsApp, organizer Yosef de Brasser, 22, urged others to join him.

Really bad behaviour the fact they are disrupting aid is disgusting and then to turn it into a party as people a few miles away are starving? No humanity. How any parent could knowingly deny a starving child food is pure evil

How do people get to a point where they have so much hate in their heart that they actually want children to die?

Horrible. Just obscene behaviour.

Trigger warning.

The little baby I posted about earlier died. The video shows him taking his last breaths. I honestly don't know how much more of this I can take. I can't even begin to imagine how the people actually living in this hell are feeling. I wish I believed in God.

I know. I'm finding it hard to bear at the moment too. Being exposed to genocide deniers and supporters probably doesn't help. It's so hard to watch that living it is genuinely unimaginable. I heard an interview today with a man who left Gaza late last year but his family is still there and he said it's just hell. That was the only way he could describe it.

I don't know if believing in God would help. Worshipping a God who allows this to happen to innocent people must be difficult.

@ConnieCounter "I don't know if believing in God would help. Worshipping a God who allows this to happen to innocent people must be difficult"

If I believed in God then I could believe in hell and could at least take comfort in the fact that the people responsible for this would be punished eventually.

I didn't think of it that way 😂 Fair enough.

Especially when the same kind of horror is part of their own history. I didn’t want to believe it, but it really does seem as though the Palestinians mean no more to Israel than rats in a trap. You might hope that there would be a resolve to not treat other human beings in the same way that they and their ancestors were so brutally treated. Instead, Israel has found its own scapegoats in the innocents of Gaza and the West Bank. I can understand Israel wanting to destroy Hamas, but not at any cost. It has committed the most heinous crimes against Palestinian civilians currently and historically and surely must be held to account when this carnage ends.

inkworks273 · 24/02/2024 21:39

I just watched a video of a little girl vomiting up animal feed as doctors tried to save her. She didn't make it.

What the fuck is wrong with us that we are allowing this to happen?

I feel like I can't watch any more of this but at the same time I feel like I have to watch it. For them.

PeasfullPerson · 24/02/2024 21:54

@inkworks273 that’s horrible, there aren’t words to describe how horrible that is.

It’s great that you are so open to witnessing this suffering, when many people choose to look away, but please take good care of yourself.

The Palestinian people are having to suffer it. I feel the least I can do is bear witness to it and then do my best to hold the people responsible for it to account.

I will never vote for anyone ever again without checking the persons stance on Palestine first.

@inkworks273 I feel the same - that if they have to live it, the least I can do is bear witness. Can you share the link, if you still have it (either here or by PM)?

PersephoneSeethes · 23/02/2024 09:37

It’s a compilation video with no context. You are foolish to fall for such propaganda.
Where are the dates for each clip, what is the context for each clip? Who made it?

Anything can be sniped and clipped and pasted together to tell you whatever story the creator wants to tell. This is 101 of History and sources analysis at school.

Presumably you have not seen the original footage of all of the speeches those genocidal statements were cut from otherwise you wouldn't describe the rest of us as foolish.

I have seen the full footage and reporting of all of those genocidal remarks at the time they were made, I have full context. The clip only gives us a small sample of some of the shocking things Israeli officials have said.

All of the remarks included in that clip and the six pages of similar remarks, detailed in the SA submission to the ICJ, have been made since October. A simple google search would confirm this. It is not propaganda.

Snowypeak · 25/02/2024 09:16

@FOJN I’m not surprised that someone would think those clips were propaganda. The footage is so appalling and bizarre that it looks fictional. You wouldn’t think that rational, civilised, elected government ministers could speak like that. But this is the Israeli government.

kirinm · 26/02/2024 11:37

What is the position going to be of those who suggest that the war would end if the hostages are released when the Israeli government say that actually, it won't and Rafah will be attacked anyway?

kirinm · 26/02/2024 11:41

Human Rights Watch says Israeli government is blocking aid and STARVING Palestinians.

Or are they another body we are meant to disbelieve?

LilaDidIt · 26/02/2024 13:08

Not sure if anyone's been following this, but the US military serviceman who set himself on fire in protest against the genocide has been named. He is Aaron Bushnell. His final message on Facebook was:

"Many of us like to ask ourselves, 'What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?' The answer is, you're doing it. Right now."

I feel for him. That feeling of immense frustration and powerless at witnessing atrocities play out day after day and not being able to do anything to stop them. I'm sure there will be people who will be quick to write him off as insane, but it's the world that's letting this happen that's insane.
