Not sure if anyone's been following this, but the US military serviceman who set himself on fire in protest against the genocide has been named. He is Aaron Bushnell. His final message on Facebook was:
"Many of us like to ask ourselves, 'What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?' The answer is, you're doing it. Right now."
I feel for him. That feeling of immense frustration and powerless at witnessing atrocities play out day after day and not being able to do anything to stop them. I'm sure there will be people who will be quick to write him off as insane, but it's the world that's letting this happen that's insane.
