Thank you for that.

Appalling that when there is so much objective international evidence of the horrific behaviour of so many of Israel’s leaders, their behaviour continues to be supported and funded.

I’ll probably be flamed for saying this but I can’t help thinking that at least in part ordinary Jewish people worldwide are being used and manipulated by these extremist landgrabbers who hide behind genuine Jewish hopes for a homeland.

Thank you for posting this. Eye opening to say the least, especially regarding wanting the form an alliance with Nazi Germany!!!!!

I just want to put your quote in context, because when I initially read it I thought you meant UNWRA wanted to form the alliance with Nazi Germany. Just want to make sure no on else reads it the same as I did.

On 17 September 1948, while driving through Jerusalem, he was assassinated by gunmen dispatched by Lehi (aka Stern Gang), a Zionist militia so fanatical that it in 1941 proposed a formal alliance with Nazi Germany on the basis of what it stated were shared ideological principles.

No I didn't mean that but it's good you are putting it in context.

Dulra · 20/02/2024 12:27

@Auvergne63 I know you didn't mean that but was worried someone would read it that way and post as fact somewhere else

Finallyloggedin · 20/02/2024 14:38

It’s really interesting, isn’t it. And also heartbreaking that, as you say, @Snowypeak , there is so much evidence out there and yet this situation has been allowed by the world to continue for so, so long.

Labour changing their position...

Too late. Their position on this is beyond disgraceful.

I'll never vote for them again in Westminster elections. But hopefully something useful can come out of this particular swing of the weathervane.

BelleHathor · 20/02/2024 16:57

Thanks @Finallyloggedin excellent thread which provides important historical context. The Palestinians really were f**ked over. Resolution 181 needs to be implemented forthwith (that is the bare minimum and in no way compensates for the decades of injustice) no more excuses.

"There are several reasons why the UN did not make Palestinian refugees, like those elsewhere in the world, the responsibility of UNHCR.
Most obviously, the UN bears a special responsibility towards Palestinian refugees.
It played a direct role in their dispossession by partitioning their country and handing most of it over to a supremacist movement committed to transforming its allotted entity into an exclusivist state. No partition, no Nakba.
Or at least not one for which the UN bears moral, political, and arguably legal responsibility for the entirely predictable consequences."

For the first year in a long, long time, I'm not looking forward to the start of Ramadhan this year.

Ramadhan is expected to start on the 10th March.

The Israeli government has selected that date for a reason. To further insult, demoralise and terrorise the people of Palestine. And to cause global pain and insult to Muslims.

The most moral army in the world, everyone.

Why is a hate filled rant of rubbish a great summary? How bizarre.

Let's pray it won't come to this (I doubt it but we have to have some hope right?)

This extract is taken from an interview Chris Cuomo (formerly of CNN fame) interviewed the Comedian Bassem Youssef earlier this month.

Bassem went viral last year after his interview with Piers Morgan was watched by millions after he passionately defended the Palestinian cause (his wife is Palestinian).

The interview is an excellent watch and BY debunks much of the current and historical propaganda.

This is true. Imo Israel under the current leadership is a dangerous extremist country.

You must not have been following the various Israeli ministers’ comments over the years about settling in Gaza, nuking Gaza, maps showing Greater Israel reaching from the Euphrates to the Nile. All over Google if you want to look.

I am so sorry you are feeling that way about Ramadan. I used to teach RE and it was one of my favourite lessons to teach because the Muslims children were so eager to share their experiences of Ramadan with me and the other pupils.
I, like you, believe that date was chosen deliberately.

I also believe that the Israeli government will come to regret that decision in the future.

A lady who called into radio 5.

Snowypeak · 21/02/2024 18:03

She’s right.
Something very wrong when this can’t be stated more clearly by everyone.
