The moment we start imposing restrictions and threatening to bill we are heading down a slippery slope.

Restrictions like not invading McDonalds and not cosplaying as Hamas?

plusjamais · 13/01/2024 17:16

Oh and here comes the passive aggression. You can really set your watch by them.

Trulywonderful · 13/01/2024 17:19

This is what the idiots clueless about the middle east are thanking the Houthi for doing because this is only going to get worse again:

"The Houthi's starting a civil war in Yemen was not a good thing which has led to 17-19 million people suffering from food insecurity.

But don't take my word for it, but Human Rights Watch."

but tbf I've never been a fan of aggressive aggression.

Trulywonderful · 13/01/2024 17:22

"Millions of Yemenis continue to face the largest humanitarian crisis in the world, with more than half the population facing acute levels of food insecurity. Yemen depends on imports of almost all its food and essential commodities, and the collapse of its currency has led to skyrocketing food and other commodity prices and reduced households’ purchasing power. Millions of people cannot afford to meet their basic needs."

Out of the thousands that attend there will always be minority. This is the seventh march and they have all been largely peaceful with any incidents forming a tiny percentage. You can't have protests banned just because you don't agree with them or they trigger you.

noblegiraffe · 13/01/2024 17:29

You can't have protests banned just because you don't agree with them or they trigger you.

You also argued against imposing restrictions or billing for damages.

So you think that protesters should be allowed to create huge policing bills and we should all just suck it up because their right to invade McDonalds overrides my desire to free police up to investigate other stuff?

Not banned but if you are going to arrange a huge March and can't keep your house in order then you should pay the bill. Be interesting to see how many are arrested tomorrow?

I've just been watching videos of NOT JUST A MINORITY calling for Intifada. That doesn't strike me as a peaceful protest. It's spreading hate and calling for violence.

or they trigger you.

Ah, is this just your clever way of telling Jews to sit down and put up with antisemitism. Slow handclap.

stomachameleon · 13/01/2024 17:31

' or they trigger you'

Is that what you call antisemitism now?

Trulywonderful · 13/01/2024 17:31

Yemen still depends on food imports itself and distribution to shipping again will not only affect Israel and other countries. People in Yemen may be plunged into food insecurity yet again. This has happened before and the Houthi literally don't care about it happened again to their own people. It is all about Israel, Jews and the west to then

So well done protesters for your total lack of knowledge about every fuckwittery thing at every fuckwittery point. Really 10 out of 10 for being useful idiots yet again

It might surprise some on here that there are many who support the marches. I was unable to go but it is brilliant to see the thousands that did attend. It restores my faith in humanity and that people do care about the thousands that have died and are dying. That is what the vast majority are there for. To protest against the innocent lives being lost, the mass displacement and the brutal occupation.
Yes there are a tiny minority there that have caused issues but don't try and tarnish the thousands that are there peacefully protesting.

Amazing turnout again at the march. I have some family and friends that have gone. Handful of arrests from what I have read out of the thousands there. The right to protest should be protected at all costs. The moment we start imposing restrictions and threatening to bill we are heading down a slippery slope. If our government wants to be complicit in the current genocide then don't complain when people come out to protest. We don't agree and we will continue to speak for what is right.

@QueenRania out of interest -Who exactly is "we?"

Trulywonderful · 13/01/2024 17:39

stomachameleon · 13/01/2024 17:32

He is right that is literally what they are asking

We said weeks ago about this mixed messaging

It is either they are so stupid they don't understand what they are saying or they are literally calling for Israel to not defend itself from the violent attacks they are calling for

I truly believe depending on which protesters we are talking about they are either useful idiots or know what they are saying. They really isn't anything else inbetween on this.

@plusjamais I haven't seen the video. Could a link to this be posted? How many do you think as we have been assured that it just a "tiny minority."

quantumbutterfly · 13/01/2024 17:52

I mainly see a mix of clueless westerners getting excited and joining in a bit of catchy chanting without thinking too deeply about what they're saying or impressionable youngsters with more passion than perspective being stirred into emotional fervour.

There are also a few opportunists looking for support for their particular brand of hatred.

So what it achieves is, some Jewish people feel intimidated, some British people will resent what they see and a bunch of protesters will feel validated.

Doesn't influence the government, doesn't help anyone in Israel or Gaza or the people there trying to broker peace and bring terrified captives back to their families.

@quantumbutterfly

Excellent post and excellent summary.

ralpix · 13/01/2024 17:58

just watched those videos.
Silly privileged kids shouting
"we don't want two states"
Idiots.

stomachameleon · 13/01/2024 18:05

Mmmmm @plusjamais blows massive holes in the argument of posters saying it's a 'tiny minority'

headstone · 13/01/2024 18:05

Well Ralpix the Israeli government doesn’t want two states either, so a bit if hypocrisy there

plusjamais · 13/01/2024 18:07

Well quite. But they're showing support (either subtly or explicitly) with two organisations who kill or terrorise both Jews and Muslims, and while this doesn't seem to be landing on their noggins, they shouldn't need to think too deeply to know this.
