Have seen in the news - I suspect it’s the tip of the iceberg and absolutely terrifying for Jewish people everywhere. Hamas need to be stopped, hopefully this helps to reinforce that they are a terrorist group and not some romantic notion about being ‘freedom fighters’

just shocked at the ignorance in this post.
I mean, I shouldn't be really. If Hamas gave a press conference saying they wanted to reopen concentration camps for Jews and finish off Hitlers work, the hard left would still be whatabouting and full of excuses and justifications for antisemitism.

Instead the people giving genocidal press conferences these days are the Israeli government aren’t they?

I’m happy to post some of their choice quotes here if you’d like.

HmmHmm

@Desertrose2023 @Babyboomtastic

The following are credible sources which show the aim for Hamas to murder all Jews (from the first page of a Google search). Nobody here is denying the IDF's culpability in the killing of innocent Palestinians. Why are you defending Hamas if you don't support their ideology?

https://www.fdd.org/analysis/2023/11/08/no-one-can-deny-hamas-aim-is-to-kill-jews-it-fully-admits-it/

I'm going to take a guess that those who support Hamas and don't condemn them are unashamedly antisemitic.

Desertrose2023 · 15/12/2023 13:43

I see the typical bullying tactics didn’t take long and the slandering from Pro Israel posters started almost immediately.

this thread is to discuss the alleged threat posed by Hamas outside of Israel. Arguing that Hamas does not pose a credible threat outside of Israel is not the same as supporting them.

CurlewKate · 15/12/2023 13:43

@WibbleWobbleFlop "It's quite telling that those who (rightfully) criticize the ultra-right Israeli government don't also speak out about the evils of Hamas on this board."

They do, you know. The selective hearing here is spectacular

WibbleWobbleFlop · 15/12/2023 13:44

@Desertrose2023 So the arrests of four members of Hamas who were planning an attack in Europe (posted on this thread) is not a threat?

are you being wilfully hard of thinking or what? They've arrested Hamas operatives who threatened the West. They want to eradicate Jews. Words from their mouths.

I'd also like to point out that I am not a pro-Israel poster. I am also not a Zionist. I just have the ability to see past the edge of my own nose.

I would suggest that you refrain from personally insulting people. It’s unnecessary and reflects badly on you.

I am aware arrests have been made and that the information released by the authorities is limited. The narrative that suddenly Hamas presents a threat to Jews globally is a highly convenient one for an Israeli government that is currently facing mounting pressure to stop its genocide. It also does not align with Hamas’s own stated ideology as set out in its 2017 charter. Until further information is available I do not accept that these arrests present enough evidence to conflate Hamas with ISIS as others are doing.

the history of Netanyahu’s support of Hamas is also public. Google it.

@Toothyfruity As other mentioned, this is not relevant to the topic discussed in this thread. If you have nothing valuable to add please leave and create your own thread to spread propaganda.

The thread is to discuss the alleged threat posed by Hamas to Jews in Europe. I have provided an opinion on that topic.

if what you’re actually saying is that there is no room for opposing views on the thread and all you want is an echo chamber then that’s different.

Why isn’t this a threat though?

They added that one of the four, named as Abdelhamid Al A, had been tasked by Hamas leaders in Lebanon with locating a "depot with weapons in Europe, which the organisation had covertly set up there in the past".

"The weapons were due to be taken to Berlin and kept in a state of readiness in view of potential terrorist attacks against Jewish institutions in Europe."

Ch Insp Flemming Drejer of the Danish police said the three suspects arrested in Denmark as part of its own investigation would be charged with terror offences.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said the threat was "as serious as it gets".

Danish Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard said the alleged plot "tragically confirms that Danish Jews are under threat".

BigFrau · 15/12/2023 14:11

Ah, the old "echo chamber" accusation
No, no one wants an echo chamber, just the chance to discuss the topic of the thread without blatant derailment. Opposing views are fine if they remain on topic.

WibbleWobbleFlop · 15/12/2023 09:29

@Toothyfruity I haven't seen any claims that the IDF had used human shields. If they have, then certainly I condemn it as well.

@ChalkWitch Israel have been defending themselves against attacks since it's formation in 1948. Before that, vast numbers of it's citizens from all over Europe and the Middle East were oppressed and targeted for centuries (actually, millennia). Their land was initially stolen, as they were originally from the land that is now recognized as Israel. That doesn't mean Palestinians haven't been oppressed (certainly moreso recently). Both sides have valid arguments.

But conflating Hamas with ISIS and viewing Hamas as a credible threat to Jews outside of Israel are not the same thing.

TodayInahurry · 15/12/2023 14:17

What I find frightening with the intimidation marches is the number of far left useful idiots supporting them. Especially the Queers for Palestine, do they not understand that they would be thrown off rooftops in most Muslim countries?

I was responding to comments on this thread. If you don't want discussion maybe a discussion board isn't for you?

  1. I'm not denying that some/many/most of those in Hamas probably want to kill all Jews. Some have said this publicly. Some have been criticised by others in Hamas for doing so as it's against their charter

  2. some of those links are a tad biased. To put it mildly. Less partisan links would be better.

  3. my post wasn't about what individual members of Hamas say or their leadership. It was in response to the specific assertion that "Thier funding charter explicitly states..." I am correct about this and to say otherwise either means you haven't bothered to read it yourself or are deliberately choosing to spread lies.

  4. I'm not defending Hamas. I'm correcting misinformation. I am not a fan of Harold Shipman, but if someone said that he'd killed 100,000 people I'd state that they were wrong. I can't stand the conservative party, but if someone said that in their founding charter they'd explicitly said that they believe poor people should die, I'd ask to see the relevant clause before believing it.

Truth is more important than defending a 'side'.

Hamas have done enough terrible things without inventing stuff. Let's try to stick to truth.

As a rule of thumb, if you’re making out that you care about human rights it undermines your argument if you use hate speech to do it.

Also, an actual example of a post that is actually not relevant to the topic of the thread.

Anotherdayanotherdiet · 15/12/2023 14:29

just shocked at the ignorance in this post.

Except that whats she’s saying is true. The Israeli government were happy enough with Hamas when they thought they were useful/harmless.

Livelovelaugh028384 · 15/12/2023 14:29

My comment about islam being a religion of peace so posters shouldn't tarnish the whole religion based on certain groups is a violation on mumsnet. But posters making and admitting being sarcastic about saying the religion promotes peace is still up.

EasternStandard · 15/12/2023 14:30
