It looks like the UN may have been reluctant to investigate or highlight the sickening sexual violence committed on October 7th. It also appears some of the hostages may have been abused.

Was this because the horrendous violence doesn't fit in with that purely Palestinians are victims of this ongoing conflict? Are investigations into these crimes because women are viewed as second class citizens or the revelations 'muddy the waters' where some just want to see one side as the victim.

Hamas planned sexual violence as weapon of war - Israeli campaigner

An Israeli campaigner says militants planned acts of sexual violence committed in October's attack.

Oh and Owen Jones should get in the bin, the woman hating arse he is.

I hope it leads to the end of his 'career', despicable man.

I often think Jones' cronies are on this board.

Shani Louk, God rest her soul, was the lady, as we all know, who suffered humiliation.
Paraded around, spat on and jeered.
The only saving grace is that she suffered
a quick death; something which gave her parents some relief.
Imagine not being sickened by seeing that.

I was utterly horrified at the SILENCE from my friends after 7 October: even before Israel had responded, there was zero outcry about what had happened. These are women who are educated, many of whom work in the third sector so very much interested in global politics and human rights, and were some of the loudest voices for other movements like BLM etc and yet when 7 October happened they said nothing. These are the same people who are now posting ‘cease fire now’ and loudly denouncing Israel’s actions. Regardless of whether you think Israel’s response is proportionate (and ultimately, let’s leave this for the international courts to arbitrate), why would you be SO concerned about those in Gaza but absolutely silent about the hostages and murdered and brutalised Jewish families unless you were very clearly implying an anti Jewish sentiment.

Hamas literally filmed and published their crimes on the victims own social media, there is no disputing this, they have admitted doing it and made clear they will do it again and again. These people do not value life. And yet many in the western world stand shoulder to shoulder with pro Hamas supporters chanting anti Jewish slogans and thinking they are virtuous posting pro Palestine propoganda online. If they truly cared about peace and about all humans why the absolute silence about the rape of young girls and women. Rape is not a political statement or response.

Do people not understand that this treatment of the Jewish people is exactly why they needed their own safe place to call home?

And yet you believe everything Palestine posts without question. There are entire threads on here devoted to posting tiktok links from Gaza.

You're doing it again. What hope is there for women if you want to deny it happened?

The place for you to deny serious sexual assault of women isn't here. Stop it

^^ for the rape apologists

Goodornot · 05/12/2023 09:58

This is why so many sex crimes go unreported. Even women deny it happened.

Toothyfruity · 05/12/2023 09:59

Israeli media reported that those eyewitness accounts were false. I'm not making it up so no need to assassinate my character for asking for crimes to be verified. There are repercussions when false stories about atrocities get out. October 7th was horrendous enough without confusing matters with fake stories.

I never once said they were false! Just that stories need to be verified before people can report on them.

I literally just said this needs to be investigated and verified. This is due process. I'm sorry if that offends you.

You then believe that most of the crap out of Gaza in also false. They bombed their own hospital when they misfired a rocket and blamed it on Israel...

The rapes that happened on October 7th are not ‘claims’. Footage of the atrocity and aftermath have been shown to scores of independent journalists and others. How many more people need to verify what happened before you accept that this was a total horror? This sounds like something straight out of Owen Jones’ playbook. Wellllll she didn’t have underwear on and her legs were broken apart and there was a knife inserted in ####### but can we really be sure what happened… is there really evidence there of rape?…

No I don't believe stories coming out of Gaza that are unverified. I didn't post about the babies left to die alone in al Nasr hospital until it was reported in mainstream media with numerous sources verifying what happened.

I don't know who attacked that hospital. I could never figure out what was true in that case.

Hi all,
We have been through the thread and moderated it, but do feel free to draw our attention to anything that we and your fellow reporters have missed.

We wish to re-iterate our approach to this conversation - we think that posters should be able to engage in political discourse, including criticism of governments and their policies. However, we do appreciate that this needs to remain within the boundaries of respectful and legitimate political debate.

We would remove any posts reported to us that employ stereotypes, invoke harmful conspiracy theories, or target Jewish people or Palestinian people as a whole rather than focusing on specific policies, actions, or government. Please report anything like this if you see it on the boards, and feel free to challenge opinions with which you disagree.

We'd like to think that threads such as this one can remain open and that posters can pool information and express solidarity in good faith at a terrible, terrible time, but we must counsel everyone that those who cannot post according to our guidelines may find their posting privileges removed altogether.

XRAYTHIS · 05/12/2023 13:23

Again. For those who would deny:

Rape of women, children and men is not resistance. It's rape.

The denial, the minimising and whataboutery around rape is disgusting.

The deafening silence of many women's groups is telling.

There is plenty of evidence and more coming out all of the time. Sick individuals don't get to watch rape to satisfy their twisted minds before they know its true.

I believe the women. I believe the witnesses. I believe the dead bodies of women with broken pelvises, signs of mutilation. I've read some of the first responses accounts what Hamas, other terrorists and some civilians did was vile.

There is no excuse.

There are numerous threads. Is there a number of posts an individual can have removed before they are asked to leave the site (for a day/week/month)? It's often the same people who are unable to follow simple rules.

I wish they would pick the thread topic that they want to talk about and talk there if a crime predominantly against women is of no interest to them.

I read it too. That was a planned mission to rape and kill Jewish people. Added to that, but to do it the most monstrous manner.
I don't need any video footage to believe rape of both men and women took place.
The footage provided plenty of evidence of extreme brutality.
I don't understand why some need verification, as though those monsters wouldn't lower themselves to rape.

@Goodornot I am also seeking to understand why some people appear to think the killing of innocent Palestinians in retaliation is ok?

What relevance does that have to this thread m?
