It’s just heartbreaking. I’ve seen videos on twitter that are beyond anything I can even begin to describe. Palestinians are being murdered in their thousands and the western media is largely pretending it’s not happening.

The average age of the people who have been killed in Gaza is FIVE years old.

The UK media are not showing how the Israeli government is openly talking about, and cheerleading genocide now. Israeli government speaks about Palestinians as if they are not humans. They are saying women are targets as they can have babies. I’ve just read how, since October 7th they have taken over 5,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and tortured them. They were already routinely arresting Palestinians and taking them away from their family with no reason and no but this is not being adequately reported.

Please, please visit sites such as 972 magazine and declassified uk. The BBC, etc, unfortunately aren’t reporting the extent to what is going on.

Israel and its allies are repurposing the goals and lies of 1948 – in Gaza in 2023

Israel is openly carrying out ethnic cleansing inside Gaza, driving Palestinians outside their homeland as happened in 1948. And yet, just as during the first “Nakba”, Israel's lies and deceptions dominate the West’s media and political narrative.

No. The Israeli government is not being scrutinised more than any other country. If anything, their unique bond with the US is enabling them to act in a way that many other countries would never, and should never, be able to.

Absolutely this!! Israel seem to have a free pass to behave how they like! They seem to get away with stuff other countries would be vilified for - like their apartheid for example.

Scirocco · 31/01/2024 19:15

I know a family, including a small child, to whom the following happened.

They were told that they had to leave their home in North Gaza as it was going to become a combat zone.

So they left. They travelled to an Israeli-designated 'safe zone'.

They were told to move again.

So they left again. They travelled to an Israeli-designated 'safe zone'.

Then the military bombed the 'safe zone'.

Their 2 year old child is scarred for life. Other people around them were injured and killed.

Damn right I'm going to call for scrutiny of the government responsible for those orders and of the soldiers who carried out the bombing.

‘World cannot abandon’ Gaza’s children:

UNICEF chiefUNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell says

“the situation for children in Gaza grows bleaker every day”.

She called on the international community not to let the children of the war-torn enclave down.

“The world cannot abandon them,” she wrote on X, sharing a UNICEF statement from earlier in the week.

PeasfullPerson · 02/02/2024 07:59

As I wake up in my warm peaceful house this morning, with well fed and well dressed children, I am shedding a tear for all the people in Gaza who have had that taken away from them, and did nothing to deserve it.

Ikeasucks · 02/02/2024 09:37

I would rather 7/10 hadn’t happened

PeasfullPerson · 02/02/2024 12:22

I would rather that none of it happened. Before, on, after.

Why would you applaud that

Rent a mob

inkworks273 · 02/02/2024 14:06

@Februaryfeels Personally, I like when people who are complicit in war crimes are held accountable.

That's nice

Personally I find crusty behaviour pathetic and that's what this is.

It'll make not a blind bit of difference other thab make them feel good (until the next thing comes along)

I think pretty much everyone here would rather 7/10 hadn't happened.

The crusty behaviour you describe is the behaviour which earned you the right to vote, have paid holidays, sick pay and the rest.
As you don't believe this makes a blind bit of difference, I suggest you forgo these rights, earned through protests and sit ins, and be sure to inform the French that these tactics don't work. My compatriots, I am sure, will agree with you.

"Here is a list of the names we know from the more than 11,500 Palestinian children killed during Israel’s continuing war on Gaza"

The video is over 7 minutes long. There is absolutely no justification for this. Pure evil.

You are kind of assuming that those who do not agree with the whole scale massacre of Gaza’s civilians do not recognise that Hamas is a terrorist group. Hamas would not have the grassroots support to survive if Israel had not consistently perpetrated the injustices that it has. I have not seen a single post supporting Hamas in this forum. Israel will always have a terrorist problem until they stop doing what they’ve been doing for the last 75 years, whether it’s Hamas or Real Hamas or Real real Hamas or whatever. Israel is using pretext of eliminating Hamas to justify ethnic cleansing

@Kindatired you haven't? There have been quite a few tbh.

Scirocco · 02/02/2024 17:48

@stomachameleon if you've seen those, I hope you reported them to the moderation team. I don't think I've seen any myself.

Kindatired · 02/02/2024 17:49

No I have seen no unequivocal support for Hamas expressed. I have seen posts of the “what do you expect if your country steals land, shoots to kill teenage yobs, interns without trial, deprives populations of electoral representation and tries people in military courts with conviction rates exceeding 99%. Of course you’ll have a persistent terrorist problem

stomachameleon · 02/02/2024 18:17

@Scirocco yes of course and to be honest Mumsnet have acted fast to get rid of things. I have even reported posts that I think have breached anti terrorism rules.

No @Kindatired I have seen several messages of support. Unequivocal support.

I've seen Hamas referred to as "bad people" which is understatement of the year

Kindatired · 02/02/2024 18:41

That makes sense- don’t spend all day on mn and there are all sorts on here but genuinely most people here and elsewhere accept that the atrocities 7/10 were self evidently terrorism. It’s the response of Israel with which posters take issue.
Anyway, while John is entitled to their opinion, it’s at variance with that of the signatories of the Atlantic statement who say “Israel's military operations have disregarded all important counterterrorism expertise gained since 9/11… the [military] operation has not contributed to Israel's goal of defeating Hamas and has instead strengthened the appeal of Hamas, Hezbollah and other negative actors".
Half of these signatories have at least 10 years in government roles such as ambassador in a variety of countries like Syria and they are risking their careers to sign
