Please do all you can to object to the genocide of Palestinians

It’s just heartbreaking. I’ve seen videos on twitter that are beyond anything I can even begin to describe. Palestinians are being murdered in their thousands and the western media is largely pretending it’s not happening.

The average age of the people who have been killed in Gaza is FIVE years old.

The UK media are not showing how the Israeli government is openly talking about, and cheerleading genocide now. Israeli government speaks about Palestinians as if they are not humans. They are saying women are targets as they can have babies. I’ve just read how, since October 7th they have taken over 5,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and tortured them. They were already routinely arresting Palestinians and taking them away from their family with no reason and no but this is not being adequately reported.

Please, please visit sites such as 972 magazine and declassified uk. The BBC, etc, unfortunately aren’t reporting the extent to what is going on.

Israel and its allies are repurposing the goals and lies of 1948 – in Gaza in 2023

Israel is openly carrying out ethnic cleansing inside Gaza, driving Palestinians outside their homeland as happened in 1948. And yet, just as during the first “Nakba”, Israel's lies and deceptions dominate the West’s media and political narrative.

How can we get Palestinians to stop voting for and supporting Hammas?

Certainly if Israel want hamas to grow ever stronger this is the way to radicalise gazans. Idf actions are feeding the next generation.

Perhaps if the Israeli government stopped calling gazans children of darkness and outright saying they want them all dead that might help. A commitment to an actual 2 state solution.

There hasn’t been an election in Gaza since 2006.

The real shame is that Israel has a psychopathic government who are hell bent on killing as many children as possible. The average is up to 140 children killed per day now.

Do you really believe that this is a stated aim

To kill as many children as possible?

I suppose Hamas could surrender and release the hostages. What then?

If it was delusional to accuse the Israeli government of genocide then the ICJ would not have agreed that the case brought by South Africa could continue.

Israel could not choose ‘to wipe out everyone in Gaza’ without serious ramifications for themselves and other countries around the world.

That over 26,000 people have been killed, of which over 10,000 are children, cannot be explained away as a ‘mistake’. Let’s not forget the damage to key infrastructure which has resulted in a lack of access to drinking water, food, shelter, and health care.

The biggest threat to Israel right now is the damage being done to its reputation by its continued aggression against Palestinians, and the support of this action by far right members of its government.

Please don’t compare a legally recognised government to a recognised terrorist organisation. Set the bar higher, it is not a race to the bottom.

I feel like I've read this post several times already in the last 4 months. Time for some new lines. Saying that a population has grown in the last 70 years means that a genocide can't have been happening in the last 4 months is beyond ridiculous.

@JohnMytton "This is a conflict between civilisation and barbarism."

You're right. But what you don't seem to realise is that the civilisation in Gaza is up against the barbarism of the IDF and Israeli government.

I've just posted a video in another thread of a small child who is lying in a bed, gravely injured with no one to help him because the IDF has destroyed all the hospitals.

Barbarism is right.

It is the fault of the Israeli government and the IDF.

Parkingt111 · 31/01/2024 13:05

@JohnMytton how can you say Israel does not kill civilians when it's proven they have killed people waving white flags.
Ofcourse they do

You do realise that the Israeli government is well aware that, if they totally flattened Gaza in one go, the USA and others might withdraw their military and financial support. So instead, it is done drip by drip.

Accusing Israel of genocide, or that they have a thirst of killing children, is an anti-Semitic blood libel, which has a long history.
The good old antisemitic accusation every time people dare criticising Israel is becoming ineffective as well as total untrue. I am not anti semitic. I am just anti the slaughtering of any civilians.
Israel has shown more care towards Palestinian Arab civilians than Hamas has. Israel drop leaflets warning people to evacuate areas before they commence bombing.
Your idea of care differs vastly from mine. For example, starvation, operations without anaesthetics, 19000 orphans, etc is a very strange way to show care.
Don't forget they may warn people but they like to bomb them when they are on the move or when they are in refugees camps. What a caring attitude!

I admire those of you who can still be arsed responding to these same tired old lies four months in. Kudos.

stomachameleon · 31/01/2024 15:59

@Toothyfruity ditto.

Scirocco · 31/01/2024 16:41

@JohnMytton I criticise any government, military force or group that indiscriminately bombs civilians, shoots innocent people, runs them over with bulldozers and tanks, violates international humanitarian law, kills thousands of civilians who are trapped with no way out, leaves a population in starvation, etc etc.

I criticise any government, military force or group who have killed my friends and colleagues.

I criticise any government, military force or group which does not have the insight or decency to recognise the basic human rights of others.

Over half of the buildings in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed.

Over 80% of the population have been displaced.

Over 26,000 people have been killed. There are also thousands of missing people (who are probably also dead) and thousands of injured people. 19,000 children no longer have any adults to look after them. That's all quite a lot of death and suffering so far.

The BBC has an interesting article about the scale of the destruction of Gaza, which might be of interest. The history and culture of the population is being eradicated.

Things are bad enough that there's now an ICJ case looking at whether this meets their criteria for genocide. That's pretty bad.

You are correct, though, that not all of the bombing and killing is indiscriminate. The targeted blasts at civilian populations were pretty targeted. As were the sniper bullets that killed elderly ladies sheltering in a church compound. As were the bulldozers, air strikes and bullets that killed my friends and colleagues.

There is nothing defensive about starving a population, denying humanitarian aid, ensuring a population cannot access emergency health care, etc.

I have seen some pretty bad emergency situations in my time. Nothing I have seen compares to this.

If my government was doing what Israel is doing I’d criticise them. When they joined blair and bush to bomb Iraq I criticise them. What you’ve to understand is that we are not criticising Israel cuz it’s a Jewish state or because it’s Israel. We are criticising Israel because they’re the ones bombing Gaza.

please don’t tell me Israel cares about gazan people when day after day we see the cruelties that Israel and idf is doing … shooting at people with white flags , targeting children and elderlies. This is not taking care and IJC isn’t happy with it neither

PeasfullPerson · 31/01/2024 17:39

No. The Israeli government is not being scrutinised more than any other country. If anything, their unique bond with the US is enabling them to act in a way that many other countries would never, and should never, be able to.
