Israel has bombed the gates of the Al Shalha hospital.

Everyone knows displaced families are sheltering in and near hospitals.

From guardian

A Gaza health ministry spokesperson, Ashraf al-Qudra, told Al Jazeera, that Israel told a Palestinian health official, “they will raid the hospital in the coming minutes”.
“And they told us to inform everybody not to be near the windows,” al-Qudra said.

There's a lot of people there, many sick, children and babies. It's not the place for shoot outs and fighting.

Exactly
The US have been repeating this for days
Seems pretty useless if Israel isn't going to listen

stormy4319trevor · 14/11/2023 23:44

@Rammer The WHO said earlier it was impossible to evacuate without killing people. They begged for it to be respected according to humanitarian law.

In the news today about USA confirming that there was hamas in the tunnels they do highlight that the way to attack a hospital has to be clear that they’ll get something out of it and should be avoided at all costs

stormy4319trevor · 14/11/2023 23:46

@Parkingt111 Biden said he didn't want fighting in hospitals. Maybe this is a false alarm?

Readingallnight · 14/11/2023 23:46

EasterIssland · 14/11/2023 23:42

If there was any hamas they had fled the places days ago! not sure what they’re aiming to get from it apart from a few more innocent deaths of vulnerable people

Just waiting for the Idf to find pristine copies of Mein Kampf, calendars, guns, conveniently discarded secret information etc Or maybe some convenient witnesses

Medical staff inside the hospital have reported that people attempting to leave have been shot by IDF snipers and that they cannot even get out to retrieve the injured. Instructing people to leave and then making it impossible is hardly "another matter", it's sick.

They could have ensured that medical supplies were allowed in at any point if they were sincere about their claims they are trying to minimise civilian casualties.

Cutting off good and water supplies to Gaza when the inhabitants there have no means of escape or acquiring those resources rather suggests an intention to maximise civilian casualties.

If the IDF go in I doubt there will be any survivors but I'm sure they will blame Hamas or bomb it to rubble after the blood bath.

This is not good for anyone involved
I hope it does not happen

Guardian
Health ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qudra has informed the International Committee of the Red Cross of the Israel’s intention to raid al-Shifa hospital “in minutes”, and that the organisation has not yet responded, he told Al Jazeera.
“The ICRC must take a stance to ensure the safety of all the patients inside the al-Shifa medical centre,” Al-Qudra said.
Israel did not inform him of why or how it would enter the hospital complex, he told Al Jazeera. He also said, “The bombardment has not stopped for a moment. There’s shelling and heavy firing in the vicinity of the centre.

That really does sound like they intend to go in.

Seems like cnn was with the idf when they filmed the hospital tunnel. Wonder whether that’s usa intelligence proof

btw @TakeMe2Insanity we are on page 40 In case you want to open a new thread as I suspect there will be more strikes against hospitals

Why have they shot 3 nurses in the ICU, why did they damage the generator and then shoot and kill the person who went out to try to see if it could be repaired.

You tell me, are the IDF psychopaths? Shooting innocent civilians doesn't seem like the actions of an army trying to minimise civilian casualties.

This website is filled with testimony from former IDF soldiers and may give you more insight into their tactics.

The Guardian is now reporting that the IDF have confirmed they are conducting an operation within the Al Shifa Hospital. The Guardian quotes the full IDF post as:

Operational Update: IDF forces are carrying out a precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specified area in the Shifa Hospital, based on intelligence information and an operational necessity. The IDF is conducting a ground operation in Gaza to defeat Hamas and rescue our hostages. Israel is at war with Hamas, not with the civilians in Gaza. The IDF forces include medical teams and Arabic speakers, who have undergone specified training to prepare for this complex and sensitive environment, with the intent that no harm is caused to the civilians being used by Hamas as human shields.

In recent weeks, the IDF has publicly warned time and again that Hamas’ continued military use of the Shifa hospital jeopardizes its protected status under international law, and enabled ample time to stop this unlawful abuse of the hospital.

Yesterday, the IDF conveyed to the relevant authorities in Gaza once again that all military activities within the hospital must cease within 12 hours. Unfortunately, they did not.

The IDF has also facilitated wide-scale evacuations of the hospital and maintained regular dialogue with hospital authorities. We call upon all Hamas terrorists present in the hospital to surrender.

^^

I have found FOJN sources to be spot on.
You can always verify yourself,

stormy4319trevor · 15/11/2023 00:20

I suppose no journalists are able to film whatever is going on in the hospital? Seems like there's only IDF updates.

I'm reading a lot of news so can't remember exactly where everything is reported but most of my news is coming from AP, Reuters and Aljazeera. The hospital director and medical staff have been quoted by news agencies. These stories have been reported in the last few days.

It's interesting that you want verified sources for this but earlier in the thread you said,

"It is a conflict zone, has a country ever been expected to give concrete evidence in real time in a similar situation before?"

I don't think it's unreasonable to hold a government and its military to a higher evidentiary standard that stressed out hospital staff who have been under bombardment for days.

You also thought the IDF had no reason to lie. I think medical staff, particularly those from MSF have even less reason. Hospital staff aren't trying to make a case for killing people.

tescocreditcard · 15/11/2023 00:35

If this is true then it's good news. It means Israel are getting closer to wiping out Hamas, after which the war will be over. I pray it ends soon.

I probably would agree with you about sharing information but the Israeli government and the IDF are making good use of social media to present information they want us to have so it's not surprising that people will scrutinise the information they provide.

I think you imagine that people don't understand nuance just because they are mistrustful of the people who provide information which doesn't withstand scrutiny. Critical thinking is a good thing.
