Israel has bombed the gates of the Al Shalha hospital.

Everyone knows displaced families are sheltering in and near hospitals.

Do any of the people who support the IDF actually watch the videos shot in the hospital grounds because for a “Hamas military base” you don’t see any militants or weapons just doctors, injured people and a lot of children.

Also if there are tunnels under the hospital wouldn’t they just smoke them out - or gas them since they love scattering phosphorus gas around - bombing buildings full of children is a strange way to get militants underground.

That’s why I posted Bisan’s video. It’s inside and around the grounds of Al Shifa. You really get a sense of how congested it is.

As many of us have know from the start Hamas has used hospitals and ordinary citizens in breach of international law as human shields. that is the kind of people that they are. I hope Israel manages to rout Hamas for ever so people can live in peace. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2023/11/14/israel-gaza-latest-news-updates-hamas-palestine-day-39-live/ "The White House said on Tuesday that it had its own intelligence that Hamas was using Gaza’s al-Shifa hospital to run its military operations and hold hostages, and probably to store weapons, saying those actions constituted a war crime.
“We have information that confirms that Hamas is using that particular hospital for a command and control mode” and probably to store weapons, national security spokesperson John Kirby told reporters aboard Air Force One. “That is a war crime.” "

Hamas’ using al-Shifa hospital to hold hostages, says US - follow latest

The US says it has intelligence that Hamas is using al-Shifa hospital to hold hostages, and that its alleged use for command and control operations is a “war crime”.

There are no journalists in Gaza.
There are some in the West Bank

For the BBC, Rushdi Abualouf has been reporting from within Gaza. I assume he must have a cameraman and sound recordist but I haven't seen them named.

Jeremy Bowen, the BBC's international editor, has been embedded with Israeli troops and went into Northern Gaza a couple of days ago with them.

I'm aware that Reuters and Aljazeera also have journalists within Gaza, but I can't name them.

There are others from other networks.

A significant number have also been killed.

From BBC Kirby added: "We do not support striking a hospital from the air and we do not want to see a firefight in the hospital where innocent people, helpless people, sick people are simply trying to get the medical care that they deserve, not to be caught in a crossfire. Hospitals and patients must be protected.

So if they have evidence they should share the evidence - it’s amazing how much evidence the US and Israel have that they can’t possibly share! There is certainly a surprising lack of militants in the hospital when you view the countless videos - perhaps all the babies are in Hamas? Perhaps the neonatal nurse they shot was!

Also even if at some point there were Hamas fighters in the hospital does that really mean they can just bomb a hospital? If any of us ever go to a hospital and a terrorist is in there at the same time can they just drop bombs on us too? Should we not all be terrified that governments are saying that it’s okay to bomb thousands of civilians to catch the bad guys? Who will be there to speak up for us if it ever happens here!

Stomacharmeleon · 14/11/2023 21:07

@Xenia people will make excuses and deny to the hilt.

hulahello · 14/11/2023 21:17

US trying to validate its support for Israeli govt likely war crimes here with "evidence". Likely the same kind of "evidence" that has turned out to be a piece of paper with the Arabic words Monday to Friday written on it.

Good points !

@cejm they should just go into tunnels on foot.

Exactly.
Until it’s independently verified it’s just stories.
Anyone who remembers Iraq should know that the US can’t be trusted either.

Absolutely there are those that have been allowed to go in with the IDF.
Not sure that counts as independent reporting anymore.

Rushdi is Gazan - apparently that means he is discredited as a journalist according to the “what about hamas” group.

thatone · 14/11/2023 21:29

Good grief now we have the people supporting the murder of 11,000 innocent civilians complaining about 'war crimes'. What does that even mean anymore?

Humdingerydoo · 14/11/2023 21:29

@Cejm
"Also if there are tunnels under the hospital wouldn’t they just smoke them out - or gas them since they love scattering phosphorus gas around - bombing buildings full of children is a strange way to get militants underground."

They'd have to first get in to the tunnels. A lot of them are booby trapped and also have bomb proof doors. So they need to open those first. Hamas didn't spare any expense in protecting themselves.

And with regards to your other point, who do you think it is who is returning fire at the hospitals? Firing RPGs at the soldiers? You think the IDF are firing back at themselves? Although to be fair, a lot of people on here seem so far down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole that I wouldn't be surprised if they do think that.

Calling Israel out for a prove it moment.

20 years ago Bush and Blair were admanant that their intelligence showed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. They justified a war on the basis of it.

Three years later, Bush made clear that the intelligence was wrong and there were not (and never had been) those WMD.

Maybe there is intelligence that Hamas has a headquarters under Al Shifa. Maybe that's it's true. Maybe there's that intelligence but it's simply wrong. Or maybe it's simply politically expedient to state that it's there. No way right now of knowing.

But we know that babies are dying for want of electricity, and that hospitals are turning slowly into charnel houses. And that hostages who should have been returned weeks ago haven't been. None of this is okay. And none of it is the fault of the poor patients and doctors currently suffering in those hospitals.

Hamas have asked for the UN to see for themselves.
Lets see if they are allowed to now.
Not during the clear up operation after Israel have killed everyone.

So Israel use that poor elderly guy for propaganda then kill him immediately after.
they are so sick

hulahello · 14/11/2023 21:36

@Motorina exactly. US has not historically proven itself to be trustworthy on these intelligence claims.

Parkingt111 · 14/11/2023 21:41

The WHO has said its almost impossible to evacuate the ill patients. I think this is where the focus for everyone should be. Firstly for the sake of the patients well being
And secondly its only in the best interests politically for all those involved.
It would be a huge catastrophe if any more babies and ill died and the world did nothing to try and mediate and save them

From The Guardian
Asked about the possibility of evacuating patients, Harris said that all of those remaining at al-Shifa required critical support to stay alive.
Moving them “would be a very difficult thing to ask in the best circumstances”, she said, let along bombing, armed clashes and a lack of fuel for ambulances, adding:
The best way would be to stop the hostilities right now and focus on saving lives, not taking lives.

So you see one photo taken from social media, and you take it to be true. And you don't see a problem with that?

Fairtobefairohhhhhc · 14/11/2023 21:47

@Humdingerydoo so you see one video of an idf soldier pointing to a piece of paper which is a calendar and he says its names of hamas terrorists. Except its not. .. do you not see a problem with that?

Wow, MN is full of such immense wit tonight! So many clever people on here!

I have never said I thought the piece of paper said anyone's names. So your "point" is completely idiotic. But you know that.

Fairtobefairohhhhhc · 14/11/2023 21:52

@Humdingerydoo buy you are heavily defending the IDF so you must obviously support all their 'evidence' too.

Works both ways

Parkingt111 · 14/11/2023 21:54

The best way to confirm would probably be through a third party inspection. Not the UN because Israel wouldn't believe it
Or a joint inspection with the UN and another organisation
Although at this moment in time it doesn't seem likely this will happen
