Israel has bombed the gates of the Al Shalha hospital.

Everyone knows displaced families are sheltering in and near hospitals.

@Humdingerydoo I've seen various reports of Hamas stopping civilians from evacuating over the last few days/couple of weeks, including footage of them shooting civilians and detonating a roadside IDE and audio recordings between IDF operativies and people on the ground in Gaza.
Obviously there's no way to verify how true any of this is but it seems to be a consistent pattern.

Some quite interesting stuff on the Gaza Report twitter/x account.

SomeCatFromJapan · 11/11/2023 22:04

The absolute scum IDF are shooting at any civilians trying to escape from the hospital
Doctors Without Borders are reporting this. It is madness yet you still have people supporting the IDF in this
Can they not see what self destruction the IDF are causing to Israel

Although MSF didn't specifically name who was doing the shooting, various sources have said it was Hamas, who have been actively trying to prevent civilians leaving.

@TakeMe2Insanity now sounding more like a cynical PR gesture than a kind offer - like I hinted earlier the logistics don't make much sense even without expecting it all to be done and dusted in an hour

There used to be 130 prem babies [spread over several units], talked about but not seen that mentioned for a couple weeks now

100% agree
It makes my blood boil how they have totally destroyed Gaza and attacked multiple hospitals aswell as medical staff
Inhumane

There is absolutely zero proof of that
Who are these various sources? I have read everything in major news sources and haven't seen a single verified source saying this. Only from the IDF

Parkingt111 · 11/11/2023 22:10

Many videos which are circulating are being used as propaganda on both sides

SomeCatFromJapan · 11/11/2023 22:11

Gaza Report on twitter tends to have ground footage.
I've seen a few incidents reported now of Hamas preventing civilian evacuations using live rounds including at least one massacre - I saw the footage of that one, and it was well before the IDF had boots on the ground in Gaza.

The IDF do seem to have been making some effort to get civilians out - you've also seen the footage with the tanks. It would be very random and counter-productive for them to then start shooting at them. The only scenerio I can think of there is that if this was a misreported firefight with Hamas fighters.

The general vibe is that the IDF have actually worked quite hard to gain civilian trust to get large scale evacuations done over the last few days. I know you personally won't believe that but for anyone else interested.

feralunderclass · 11/11/2023 22:13

Breaking news: a maternity hospital in Khan Younis is now under attack. Press Tareq Abu Azoum (Al Jazeera) said many who fled the north are sheltering here and Israel is now shelling it.

Agree I had a really good look earlier because @Humdingerydoo was asking about it. Everything derives from the one IDF tweet - absolutely no verification from elsewhere

So difficult to determine where the truth lies

Gaza reporter on twitter is by no means a verifies or reliable source
There are actual doctors who are reporting on the IDF shooting
These have been reported on BBC sky guardian etc but again not 100% verified

Clearly many many countries and organisations are not getting those vibes. In fact quite the opposite
Many alarm bells are ringing globally. And very few are continuing to buy that narrative.

What can you expect from them? Are you even shocked anymore
When you think it can't get worse it always does
Netanyahu is on a self destruction mission and seemingly doesn't even care anymore what anyone thinks

Parkingt111 · 11/11/2023 22:22

I am beyond angry. I took my children to a palestine event today. I hope when they grow up and in years to come when the world recalls how a genocide was silently broadcasted on the media, atleast they will know they were on the right side of history.

SomeCatFromJapan · 11/11/2023 22:27

It's hard to get any verified, unbiased sources from within Gaza. You've got the IDF, Hamas, the only press is local Gazan stringers and you've got various witness reports, often wildly contradictory.

Are you for instance saying you think the IDF audios that they are releasing are fake?

Parkingt111 · 11/11/2023 22:33

The IDF have been asked for proof again today that Al shifa hospital is being used as a military base. The response was it is 'forthcoming' in the mean time ill patients are dying
There is no justification for this
None whatsoever
If you feel you can justify it for x, y and z reason then sure that's your own view which you are entitled to

Efacsen · 11/11/2023 22:34

This is a bit off-topic but extra-ordinary photos of people evacuating from Gaza City pushing patients on hospital beds and in wheelchairs

Dystopian doesn't really cover it

It's a nightmare, there was a lady who had her leg amputated and the next day she was also fleeing being pushed in a wheel chair

@feralunderclass I have seen reports of the maternity hospital being bombed too. I hope it isn’t true. I hope not even the crazed Netanyahu could allow the bombing of a maternity hospital.

Think Netanyahu is passed targeting anything specific
Its just blanket bombing now.

Humdingerydoo · 11/11/2023 22:53

@Parkingt111 I'm asking you this because you've come across as level-headed in a lot of your posts but obviously feel free to not answer as you might not feel comfortable doing so for various reasons and you really don't need to justify yourself to me - but what happens if it turns out Israel is right? If it turns out eg al Shifa hospital is being used as a sort of central operations hub for Hamas? Will your opinion change at all? Obviously not how you feel about the innocent civilians who have suffered or died, it's incredibly devastating regardless, but will you still be blaming Israel for everything? Will you still think Israel has been entirely wrong in their actions?

I am NOT trying to be goady. I'm really not. I guess I'm trying to understand if there is ever going to be any kind of agreement between the two sides here on MN, and obviously also in real life. I think I've just come to the realisation that even if Israel is proven to be right, people will still think they're in the wrong because of the amount of casualties which means all these discussions and debates will have proven pointless.

As I said, please don't answer if you don't want to. I guess in your mind it might be a hypothetical scenario, and therefore impossible to answer. I also haven't asked you specifically for any particular reason other than that, as I said, you seem level-headed and also not antagonistic just for the sake of it, unlike the majority of posters on here (occasionally me included 🙃)

Fairtobefairohhhhhc · 11/11/2023 22:53

I'm at a loss. I just can't understand how this is happening. I Actually haven't got the ability to form any words that describes what I think or feel, because I've never witnessed such an awful killing spree before.

I had to step away for a few days from these threads. Every time I open my phone there are more murdered or orphaned children. It breaks my heart and even saying that feels selfish as I sit in my home safe with my children. Ffs the world really is funked up. And its only going to get worse.

Does anyone know if the IDF have given reasons for bombing the other hospitals?

What are they saying they are achieving when they are bombing hospitals other than Al-shifa?

Fairtobefairohhhhhc · 11/11/2023 22:59

@HaveALaff let's be honest. Does it really matter what their reasons are. It's all made up now.

If anyone is still believing this narrative of ridding gaza of hamas then you need to wobble your head! The way israel are going there shouldn't be any hamas left. But here we are...Still bombing away.

I know ... But people still do justify bombing hospitals so I was wondering what the IDF were telling people.

Other hospitals have been bombed and oxygen has been turned off, so what was the proposed purpose and outcome?

Parkingt111 · 11/11/2023 23:01

@Humdingerydoo it's fine you can ask.
And no it wouldn't change, I don't believe there is any justification for bombing a hospital that has civilians who are unable to leave or defend themselves. Whether that is in Palestine or any other country in the world.
It goes against every fibre of any morality I have

Also you don't have to answer this either and also a hypothetical question. I pray to God that you and your family are never in such a situation and are always safe and protected but if hypothetically you and your family were in Al shifa hospital and unable to leave ,would you say its OK for the IDF to bomb or shoot at the hospital because a Hamas base may potentially be there? For the perceived 'greater good'
Also not goady and if you choose not to answer then that's totally cool
