Israel has bombed the gates of the Al Shalha hospital.

Everyone knows displaced families are sheltering in and near hospitals.

Dr Mads Gilbert: "I'm sick and tired of Israel's claims of hospitals being used as Hamas command centers. Israel have attacked health care centers over the last 16 years without this claim, so this seems to be part of their strategy. This is a genocide in slow motion".

-Israeli snipers shooting through windows of Shifa hospital

  • the neonates have been removed from incubators and are now on the floor of a surgical ward, wrapped in blankets in an attempt to ward off hypothermia
-1.5 million internally displaced people with no food, water or medication -people have started drinking sea water to avoid dehydration which "will have disastrous consequences".

Horrible. He also said that the situation in Gaza makes "hell look like a tea party". Sums it up pretty well. Poor poor people.

democractically elected leader of a liberal democracy with a free and very critical press “wouldn’t put anything past him”

hamas murderers using hospital as cover “they don’t!!”

I suppose it’s good that these crafty Shylock Jews are so good at global conspiracies with all their Rothschild’s money and the backing of the “elites” at the WEF and in Hollywood. Jews control it all don’t ya know, and this murderous attack on Jewish people, was engineered by awful Jewish manipulators, because the problem with Jewish people is p awful deep down, and not decent like other folk.

That doesn’t really cut any ice. No-one is saying Israel’s government was in cahoots with Hamas more that they turned a blind eye as it was in their political interests to do do. Enabling them if you like.

Some articles on the subject.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/for-years-netanyahu-propped-up-hamas-now-its-blown-up-in-our-faces/amp/

https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2023-10-20/ty-article-opinion/.premium/a-brief-history-of-the-netanyahu-hamas-alliance/0000018b-47d9-d242-abef-57ff1be90000

So they are interesting articles, but beyond the inflammatory headlines, those articles are saying that Netenyahu is guilty of trying to work with Hamas to try and contain them- I.e.: by allowing work visas, turning a blind eye to their siphoning cash and smuggling they would be happy with their corrupt power structure. It’s actually not a bad plan, except it turns out that Hamas are not happy with their corrupt power structures and lives of luxury- they still want to kill all Jews.

What would have been better the suggestion goes: that he had been even more hard line on Hamas- not that he was “supporting” them- rather that he was trying to interact with them like rational actors on the political stage. I agree with the conclusion- it’s bitten them right in the backside, although I presume that at some point he had some indication this would work. It’s an interesting footnote, but what you’re complaining about here is that Netenyahu was allowing trade and workers visas, to allow interaction between Gaza and Israel.

They've got that balance wrong for years. They've had Palestinians under a ruthless illegal occupation for decades. There has been very, very little humanity shown towards them, ever. They teach their children that Palestinians are primitive criminals in their schools. The dehumanisation of Palestinians starts from a young age and then by the time they are in the IDF they are primed to shoot first and ask questions later knowing that there is no punishment for killing them. If Israel ever had humanity they lost it decades ago when it comes to Palestinians and any article pretending otherwise is nothing more than propaganda.

And Palestinian children are taught what exactly @OuiOuiKitty ?

The article was about Israel. I'm not playing some game of one-upmanship with you. I was giving my view on the article mentioned.

I disagree. It was a bloody awful plan. Hamas are part of a wider network of jihadist and were never going to be happy with “lives of luxury”. They are radicalised fanatics. Israel has been very complacent, tolerating them because they were so sure they could do no harm.

If their PM comes out the other side of this war declaring glorious victory and expecting a round of applause I don’t think I’ll be able to take it.

ChickHenLittle · 11/11/2023 19:10

@WinterWarmth When are Palestinian children taught this? All of them? I feel like I must have missed school at that point, but I've never had more than a few days off at a time.

ChickHenLittle · 11/11/2023 19:13

Have you read the articles in their entirety? For a start, some of the claims are against UNWRA staff, not the Palestinian schooling system in general. I wouldn't even class the second article as a completely reliable source.
I'm not saying it never happens, but it was a fairly sweeping generalisation.

On the news:
-journalist inside al-Shifa hospital says ICU is being targeted

  • 2 more babies have died due to lack of oxygen
-Israeli tanks are positioned 20 meters from hospital
Efacsen · 11/11/2023 19:22

A little bit of good news presumably about the prem babies at Al Shifa - well done RA Hagari for taking this on

The Israeli military will help evacuate babies trapped in Gaza’s Al Shifa Hospital on Sunday, chief Israeli military spokesperson rear admiral Daniel Hagari said on Saturday, Reuters reports.

“The staff of the Shifa hospital has requested that tomorrow we help the babies in the pediatric department to get to a safer hospital. We will provide the assistance needed,” Hagari told a news conference.

Tho' it's a mystery where they'll go considering the state of the other hospitals and that Al Shifa has the biggest NICU

Are you as annoyed with Egypt? Just asking as Gaza shares a land border with them as well.

Difficult to be responsible for 'locking someone in' when you don't even own the whole fence...

This is their land. The Palestinians want to stay on their own land. Why can’t you understand that. Of course they are being moved to access the oil. Would you be happy to be forced to move to another country because someone stole your home?

feralunderclass · 11/11/2023 19:24

That's assuming they'll be alive tomorrow. Premature neonates, lying on a hospital floor, with no oxygen, medication or fluids. You wouldn't see a stray dog treated this way 💔

Don't worry. It is, on the face of it, good news. Worth sharing twice.

(Fingers crossed both that it happens, and that those babies survive to be evacuated.)

I can never condone the actions of the IDF overall, and although this gesture has come too late for some babies - credit where it is due. Hagari has made the right choice and I hope he is able to ensure those babies safe passage to a hospital where they will have the best chance at life. I hope their parents, if still alive, will also be afforded safe passage with them.

I hope they are, and that Hagari keeps his word. It is already too late for some babies, and it should be now instead of later, you're completely right.
I'm hopeful at seeing a shred of humanity from the IDF, I can only hope it leads to more. 🤞

Efacsen · 11/11/2023 19:33

Guess we'll have to see what happens but 37 babies would be an enormous ask for any one hospital to take under normal circumstances so they'll likely go to different places - and maybe even Egypt if well enough to travel that far Can't imagine they'd go to Israel atm

HaveALaff · 11/11/2023 19:41

This is utterly atrocious and the IDF are baby murderers. They have cut off oxygen to babies.

Why are they just bombing the hospital?? Why not carry out a ground invasion???
Because it's all just an excuse to destroy more infrastructure.

SomeCatFromJapan · 11/11/2023 19:49

The IDF have been releasing some audio recordings, this is one of them co-ordinating the evacuation of Rantisi hospital:

Evacuating the babies would be the bare minimum they should do, after all everyone has suffered there.

TakeMe2Insanity · 11/11/2023 20:09

The Al Shifa hospital director is saying that his 37 babies are without electricity, they’ve asked for them to be taken out safely but the IDF keeps saying 1 hr only. He says it’s impossible to do this in an hour.

Just stunned at the heartlessness that is being shown.

@TakeMe2Insanity now sounding more like a cynical PR gesture than a kind offer - like I hinted earlier the logistics don't make much sense even without expecting it all to be done and dusted in an hour

There used to be 130 prem babies [spread over several units], talked about but not seen that mentioned for a couple weeks now

Humdingerydoo · 11/11/2023 20:42

Does anyone know anything about this? I have only found it mentioned on CNBC, jpost and times of Israel.

Edited to add - genuine question. Trying to work out if it's true or not.

And that’s an entirely reasonable position, but it’s not like he was supporting them in the sense that he was pro-Hamas- he simply wanted a solution to the problem and went with a pragmatic, of questionable method. Now, I don’t actually know any Hamas commanders myself, but I imagine some of them could have been bought off. Maybe he thought he could do it all round. I don’t know- but it’s not the same as him being some kind of clandestine Hamas supporter using them to manipulate the war between Israel and Gaza- it was a realpolitik decision made to turn a blind eye to corruption, because, as you say, he didn’t believe they could achieve what they achieved. Clearly he was wrong about that.

I suspect you’re right anyway- he’s been on the outs for a while, and the October 7 attacks represent such a large failure of the intelligence services that I suspect he will will be held accountable.

If they simply evacuate to another hospital within Gaza then it is a PR gesture and no more.
