Israel has bombed the gates of the Al Shalha hospital.

Everyone knows displaced families are sheltering in and near hospitals.

@Iwantcakeeveryday if I was Israeli I would be furious at Netanyahu certainly not defending him. For being totally incompetent prior to the war and in his response aswell

Parkingt111 · 11/11/2023 13:11

There were much larger marches at the time than what we are seeing now
And it's his privilege and protection that allowed him to wrongly get away with it which in no way makes it ok or a precedent for other countries to justify their wrong. Quite frankly I view him as scum

but you viewing him that way hasn't made a bit of difference, thats my point. Our leader did the same thing and we held a march and thats it. Thats all that happened. Nobody on our side was held responsible for those deaths and yet we are more angry with a leader in a much more difficult and dangerous position surrounded by people wanting to kill his people and our response to him is more severe than our response to our own leaders, and other leaders and countries committing similar and worse atrocities. The reason I make a point of this I think you'll understand, is that if I were Israeli, I would be wondering about that. I would wonder why the world holds us to different standards, what was unique about us that made this response so different.

But they don't hold them to different standards. The standards are exactly the same for Blair and Netanyahu,

I don't think they are from what I see and read, despite our country not being in the dangerous and scary position Israel is in.

Remember @Parkingt111 , the Pro Palestine marches started before Israel had responded, they were a response to the massacre of jews. Think about how that makes people in Israel feel about us....and how it might terrify them and remind them of a time not that long ago when the world watched....

I agree on many of the things you say. Many many things we both really want the same thing. But there are some actions that I believe as do many others including some pro israelis that are crossing a red line. Which in the case of this thread bombing hospitals where indefensible critically ill patients have nowhere to go

I understand that, but what is the alternative when Hamas have literally placed themselves in these places with vulnerable people in order to create exactly what we are debating now. You don't seem to want them to respond to Hamas and target them, but then what do they do? nothing? You'll get more of what happened on October 7. I am still asking the question, what is a legitimate proportionate response and how does that protect Israel from Hamas? Nobody seems to have an answer and it does seem like they are expected to not respond in the same way many other countries do and have done, including our own.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 11/11/2023 12:50

Surely you can see the difference between the two? Do you think we are scum too? because our government also responded to terror attacks and we also killed innocent people in order to 'defend ourselves'.

No. And I think the government is scum, if you mean the UK. Blair and the current lot. "We" didn't kill innocent people, the government made that choice. Hence the many protests against the Iraq war and Blair being tried as a war criminal afterwards.

when was Blair tried for war crimes? That was blocked by judges saying there was no law on which he could be charged. Did you march against that decision?

I'm not aware of any marches against it? I marched in protest of the Iraq war. Health reasons prevent me from attending any now.

democractically elected leader of a liberal democracy with a free and very critical press “wouldn’t put anything past him”

hamas murderers using hospital as cover “they don’t!!”

I suppose it’s good that these crafty Shylock Jews are so good at global conspiracies with all their Rothschild’s money and the backing of the “elites” at the WEF and in Hollywood. Jews control it all don’t ya know, and this murderous attack on Jewish people, was engineered by awful Jewish manipulators, because the problem with Jewish people is p awful deep down, and not decent like other folk.

That doesn’t really cut any ice. No-one is saying Israel’s government was in cahoots with Hamas more that they turned a blind eye as it was in their political interests to do do. Enabling them if you like.

Some articles on the subject.

Different hospital but more of the same

Israeli tanks are 20 meters away from al-Quds hospital, says Palestine Red Crescent Society

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has said Israeli tanks are 20 meters away from al-Quds hospital in Gaza.

“Direct shooting at the hospital, creating a state of extreme panic and fear among 14,000 displaced people,” it posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday.

On Friday, the PRCS said the hospital was at risk of closure due to the depletion of fuel supplies and the “non-arrival of aid”.

Parkingt111 · 11/11/2023 14:33

The absolute scum IDF are shooting at any civilians trying to escape from the hospital
Doctors Without Borders are reporting this. It is madness yet you still have people supporting the IDF in this
Can they not see what self destruction the IDF are causing to Israel

Israel has bombed the front of a hospital
Parkingt111 · 11/11/2023 14:36

For the people here who are defending the IDF I wonder if you would still be doing so if that was your babies in the ICU? God Forbid
Or your family stuck there, would you still be saying yes well Hamas... be whichever side you want but how can you still justify this is beyond humane

Iwantcakeeveryday · 11/11/2023 15:01

who is outright justifying this? Nobody. Saying you're not on any side and this is so much more complex than any of these threads and the pro Palestine protesters can understand, is not 'justifying all acts by Israel'. People are so damn black and white its impossible to have a rational conversation.

How Hamas tricked Israel into believing it was mostly harmless and happy with “financial incentives”.

”While Israel was led to believe it was containing a war-weary Hamas by providing economic incentives to Gazan workers, the group's fighters were being trained and drilled, often in plain sight, a source close to Hamas said.

”Hamas gave Israel the impression that it was not ready for a fight," said the source close to Hamas, describing plans for the most startling assault since the Yom Kippur War 50 years ago when Egypt and Syria surprised Israel and made it fight for its survival.

"Hamas used an unprecedented intelligence tactic to mislead Israel over the last months, by giving a public impression that it was not willing to go into a fight or confrontation with Israel while preparing for this massive operation," the source said”

They've got that balance wrong for years. They've had Palestinians under a ruthless illegal occupation for decades. There has been very, very little humanity shown towards them, ever. They teach their children that Palestinians are primitive criminals in their schools. The dehumanisation of Palestinians starts from a young age and then by the time they are in the IDF they are primed to shoot first and ask questions later knowing that there is no punishment for killing them. If Israel ever had humanity they lost it decades ago when it comes to Palestinians and any article pretending otherwise is nothing more than propaganda.

SomeCatFromJapan · 11/11/2023 16:44

Here is quite an interesting analysis of the war crimes issue. It is partisan towards Israel but sounds accurate enough:

Dr Mads Gilbert: "I'm sick and tired of Israel's claims of hospitals being used as Hamas command centers. Israel have attacked health care centers over the last 16 years without this claim, so this seems to be part of their strategy. This is a genocide in slow motion".

-Israeli snipers shooting through windows of Shifa hospital

  • the neonates have been removed from incubators and are now on the floor of a surgical ward, wrapped in blankets in an attempt to ward off hypothermia
-1.5 million internally displaced people with no food, water or medication -people have started drinking sea water to avoid dehydration which "will have disastrous consequences".

Imagine being that Doctor 😢

On Channel 4 last night one of the doctors said “I invite the IDF to come on a tour of the hospital with me, I will personally take them round. They can search every corner, they won’t find any terrorists or terrorist equipment.”

Sadly the IDF would rather just fire on the hospital and cut off its power 😡
