Israel has bombed the gates of the Al Shalha hospital.

Everyone knows displaced families are sheltering in and near hospitals.

Israel were attacked. They’re retaliating. That’s how it works. Hamas routinely use civilian infrastructure as a shield, and are routinely engaged in the practice of using Palestinian civilians as human shields. In consequence the civilian suffering is terrible.

comments about marches , 710 , politicians around the world , etc are not about the situation of hospitals in Gaza. So no I won’t continue feeding that. There are other threads for that

I'm talking specifically about hospitals and the decision to target them.

No one will- you know why? Cause Iran doesn’t give a fuck. Nor do Hamas. Right now I think that Israel might be well advised to cease the attack but only because Hamas are happy about it.

Hamas are delighted about the deaths of their civilians. Hamas rejoice because it’s about swaying political opinion. The only reason people protest about Israel is because it belongs to a swathe of political institutions that require legitimacy and so a form of legitimate protest is an actual concern.

But when you are a brutal, murderous organisation whose sole mission is the destruction of the state of Israel at any cost? Then the deaths of your own civilians is a DESIRABLE outcome.

Hamas are scum. They have designed this situation and continue to play to it. Israel does the whole world a service by attempting to crush them.

I did not claim it was based purely on numbers of deaths. Do you understand the concept of proportionality?

If 10,000 civilians die in a mission to kill 100,000 enemy combatants that would be considered proportional. That is not what is happening in Gaza.

When you talk numbers of civilian casualties in WW2 you conveniently forget 6 million European Jews. Do they count?

How many members of Hamas who coordinate attacks that kill thousands have been killed in Gaza? How many launch sites that have the capacity to launch rockets that can kill tens of thousands have been destroyed?

Israel were attacked by a terrorist organisation. Israel are a democratic state. They appear to be retaliating (your word) against a civilian population ('collective punishment').

That is absolutely not 'how it works' either logically, morally or under international law.

Can you imagine if the British state had carpet bombed Dublin to retaliate for the actions of the IRA?! The solution to dealing with brutal slaughter is not brutal slaughter.

Except they aren't retailiating against the civilian population. They are targeting Hamas.

What you are seeing is the result of Hamas deliberately operating from protected places and using civilians as human shields as part of their strategy.

And are Israel carpet bombing? I’m fairly sure that would have come up in the news. Right now it looks like targeted strikes to me.

But I’d love to know the figure for how many Palestinians have been killed over the decades by Hamas rockets misfiring? If Hamas can be destroyed Gaza will be better off. Unless Iran backs another of the Islamist jihadi groups. And they take over. And siphon off aid funds. And cut up water pipes to make rockets. And use more human shields.

None of it makes the loss of life on all sides any less awful, but you'd hope - though sadly in vain - for a more measured response than what a PP described as the almost masturbatory wails of "sadness" so conspicuously missing on any other conflict

Please go start a new thread about the other conflicts elsewhere as you're preventing serious debate on this one with your whataboutery.

@Puzzledandpissedoff yes it's hardly suprising because of the current shitstorm of thousands of civilian deaths, collective punishment, white phosphorous, carpet bombing and Israeli govt's history of oppression of the human rights of Palestinians. So it's kinda urgent.

But you are welcome to start a thread on other conflicts elsewhere if you are so concerned.
