Israel has bombed the gates of the Al Shalha hospital.

Everyone knows displaced families are sheltering in and near hospitals.

This must be the 5th time in 3 weeks they have run out of power and food. Weird.

Maybe if the Hamas fighters shooting out of it surrendered the IDF could mark it clear and then move on to the next objective?

Just a thought.

The actual generator was attacked yesterday

FOJN · 11/11/2023 08:36

The article you linked mentions an audio recording released by the IDF who claim it is evidence that Hamas are preventing civilians leaving. It would be more convincing if the IDF weren't bombing Khan Yunis and there wasn't ample evidence of the IDF launching attacks on civilians trying to leave on the routes identified as safe by the IDF.

Apart from a few comments about from the UN about what they found after fighting in 2014 almost all of that article is Israel/the IDF says.

So everything the Gazan authorities (aka Hamas) puts out is true, while everything that Israel puts out is automatically a lie?

Cool cool cool...

Trigger warning

Killing children at a cancer hospital. Babies in NICU.

Over the past 24-hours, medical care at Al-Rantisi and Al-Nasr children’s hospitals has reportedly almost ceased, with only a small generator powering the intensive care and neonatal intensive care units. Intense attacks and hostilities are reported near Al-Rantisi hospital, where there are reportedly children on dialysis and in intensive care.

  • from Unicef

Awful isn't it.

Blame Hamas for turning hospitals into military objects.

HaveALaff · 11/11/2023 08:40

Let's remember that the death toll does not include children and civilians who have died from the lack of healthcare, medical supplies, poor water sanitisation, being forced to leave hospital ect

Blame Hamas for turning hospitals into military objects.

Diplomats, foreign journalists, medical staff, foreign charities have all said their is no evidence that Hamas is under the hospital, and are now pointing out that Israel have failed to produce any evidence.

Can you identify where I have given legitimacy to claims made by Hamas?

I'm not sure where you are getting your Hamas propaganda from but I'm not even seeking it out, nevermind giving it credibility.

The IDF has fucked it's credibility with what would be comically bad propaganda if it weren't for the fact so many people are dying.

My opinion is formed simply by watching and listening to what Israel/the IDF are saying and doing. At this point I think the Netanyahu government is every bit as criminal and savage as Hamas.

Parkingt111 · 11/11/2023 08:46

@ColonelDax are you really saying that if there are terrorists in the hospital, this justifies the bombing and killing of medical staff and patients including babies in ICU. Regardless of who is to blame, for you the above is justified and that the sick people who can't move or the babies in incubators are all just regrettable casualties? And you would urge the army to continue bombing and shooting?

HaveALaff · 11/11/2023 08:48

The IDF have bombed oxygen supply to another children's hospital, Al-nasr hospital. A child died because of this. They are firing at anyone who wants to leave too.

They have asked for almost ALL hospitals to be evacuated!!! This is torture.

Roste · 11/11/2023 08:49

Lots of ‘blame Hamas’ being trotted out here. I am yet to see IDF being frogmarched by Hamas to murder civilians. Who cares about blame when people are being slaughtered mercilessly , but if we did, this is Israel’s stain on the world. If you support Israel in this atrocity, you support genocide. Own your support of genocide and stop deflecting.

It's not my rule I'm afraid, it's the Geneva Convention.

If you use a protected place as a military object, it loses its protected status and any deaths incurred while combatants are being targeted there are the responsibility of the people who turned the location into a military object.

Like I said, blame Hamas.

What kind of genocide results in the population allegedly being targeted actually increasing?

Probably quite an ineffective one don't you think?

It won't matter tho' will it - once the hospital is reduced to smoking ruins the IDF photographers will be in to get some absolutely definitive shots of Hamas HQ

Two days ago IDF tweeted a photo of the entrance to a tunnel - it looked like the manhole in my back garden with rubble tastefully arranged around it - honestly I could have made a more convincing job of it!

I don't think we will ever know what role the hospital has played - lying liars on both fronts

Roste · 11/11/2023 08:52

@ColonelDax Blame Israel. Blame Israeli supporters. Free Palestine.

Are you saying you want more people to be killed and for the genocide to be more effective ... ????

No civilians are being murdered (not by the IDF at least)

If you place military targets in civilian areas, civilians will die despite not being the target of the attacks.

If Israel really was targeting civilians the death toll would be in the hundreds of thousands.

How many German civilians do you think the British killed in WW2 out of interest? (>2M actually). Does that make us the bad guys in WW2 and perpetrators of genocide?

Go and give your head a wobble.

Sigh... Obviously not.

I'm saying that calling something a genocide when it clearly isn't one makes you sound rather silly.

I'm not asking who to blame. I'm asking your opinion. Do you, in this situation morally justify the bombing and killing of patients in this hospital Who are now under siege?

feralunderclass · 11/11/2023 08:55

"Blame Hamas" is pure hasbara. We cannot blame anyone until evidence is produced. I'm blaming Israel as there is no evidence of the hospital being used as a military base.
Netanyahu said "blame Hamas, Israel is not responsible" in response to Macron calling for a ceasefire.

It really is not 'clearly isn't' unless you are a human rights expert and know better than the multiple groups who are saying that either it is, or very very likely to lead to one

feralunderclass · 11/11/2023 08:58

Israel have just produced "satellite images" to show Hamas are using the hospital as a base. However James Bays, UN diplomat just said multiple foreign agencies such as WHO, Red Cross, Aid International have denied ever seeing evidence of this. He (James) is saying this is a war crime in his opinion.

You are conveniently ignoring the element of proportionality. Killing 70 civilians to target one enemy combatant is not considered proportional. This has been discussed by various experts many times over the last few weeks.

Yes of course and so should you because the logical extension of any other view is that by placing their HQs and military installations inside protected places, Hamas have rendered themselves immune from any possible response and that therefore the events of Oct 7 can just happen again and again ad infinitum.

What other country in the world would possibly accept that?

Do you think that Hamas should be immune from any response because they choose to operate from protected places?

Hiddenmnetter · 11/11/2023 09:00

Ah yes the “open air concentration camp”.

with 5* hotels.

with ice rinks.

with hospitals, and virtually all other civilian infrastructure.

with the leaders of Hamas being billionaires multiple times over. But yes they’re in a “concentration camp”.

Do you know that there is only 1 combatant inside Al Shifa? Where have you got that info from exactly?

I'm well aware of the principle of proportionality. Open source reporting prior to Oct 7 regularly placed the Hamas main HQ under Al Shifa.

feralunderclass · 11/11/2023 09:03

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (denied access into Israel) has said this is a war crime.

The UN security council are currently drawing up new resolutions in an attempt to force a ceasefire.
