The number of children reported killed in just three weeks in Gaza is more than the number killed in armed conflict globally – across more than 20 countries – over the course of a whole year, for the last three years.

Statement on children's deaths in Gaza | Save the Children

Children killed in Gaza in three weeks surpasses annual number of children killed across the world's conflict zones since 2019.

Apparently because we are bothered by this this makes us terrorist sympathisers and anti semitic.

Ohlalalalala · 29/10/2023 15:24

This is insanity. Why is it not breaking news? These are human children we're talking about. Why isn't this making headlines around the world? I feel sick to my stomach. Where's the humanity? Where's the outrage?

Thanks for highlighting OP. Nothing useful I can add here except just how horrifically heartbreaking this all is. And you can't even speak about children being killed without being labelled as a hamas loving anti semite who wants nothing more than to see Israel erased.

Its all so desperately sad for not just Palestinian children but humanity.

saffronsoup · 29/10/2023 15:27

There are many threads on this. Some people care a lot, some people care a little, some people don't care at all. Some people will tell you Israel hasn't really killed many children and you are just believing Hamas's lies.

Every thread goes the same way. To some these children have value, to many others they do not. These same thoughts have been repeated at nauseum over and over. I am not sure what the point is of starting another thread to rehash the same thing over and over.

TakeMe2Insanity · 29/10/2023 15:28

The jews in ww2 saved their children by creating the kindertransport to get them out but Israel isn’t allowing the crossing points to open to just save the children. It’s beyond disgusting that this constant bomb throwing is allowed to happen. It’s filmed, it’s real, we can all see it. I feel so sad.

Ohlalalalala · 29/10/2023 15:30

I feel so so so bad. Only the other day my neighbours and I were mourning the death of small hedghog killed in our neighbourhood. We were so sad about it. And here we are talking about thousands of human children murdered mercilessly before the whole world! My brain is having a glitch; I just can't comprehend this. Why????

Because the stats are ever increasing. Unless we repeat the stats then they won’t be counted. Just as the 1400 killed on 7/10 have the right to be counted so do the Palestinians or do their lives not matter?

jojonono · 29/10/2023 15:30

So sad and awful. I don't understand how so many people attempt to justify the behaviour of the Israeli govt on so many threads on here alone. Shocking.

When Palestinian Lives Are So Dehumanized, Palestinian Suffering Is Normalized

Beautifully written by Diana Buttu who is a Canadian Palestinian lawyer specialising in negotiations, international law, and international human rights law. Earlier in her career, Buttu worked on the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, serving as the only female negotiator during her five-year tenure.

When Palestinian Lives Are So Dehumanized, Palestinian Suffering Is Normalized

Why do Israeli lives have meaning, but Palestinian lives do not?

Anything that makes people aware what is going on is a good thing. These war crimes need highlighting. People's awareness leads to pressure on govts. Pressure on govts leads to eventual change.

Are you trying to minimise what Israeli govt is doing? Why are you telling people not to post? What agenda do you have?

Oh and telling people to doubt the figures, when they are being widely reported by respectable press and organisations such as United Nations is just cruel. They may not be perfectly accurate but even if they were half they would still be many thousands more than is ok.

I find your post heartless and mean towards the victims and their families.

Gruntsandgroans · 29/10/2023 15:38

It's so incredibly sad. There really aren't enough words out there to describe the horror of what Palestinians have been through in the past 3 weeks. No doubt this will scar them for for life. Not just what Israel has done but the fact that no one had their backs. Countries actively voting or abstaining from voting to save their lives. Countries funding the bombs that are killing their children. It's abhorrent.

I never knew so many awful people walked among us pretending to be caring, normal humans but actually they proudly put the lives of some people above others. It's shocked me so much, I had no idea, it's really changed my view of humanity.

jojonono · 29/10/2023 15:39

To anyone who can make a donation, the Palestine Children's Relief fund is a respectable organisation helping the children and desperately needs funds.

Please donate to save Palestinian children. I've donated earlier today and know others who have too.

ChickHenLittle · 29/10/2023 15:41

Terrifying when you see that comparison, even one is too many, but my goodness. More than all other armed conflicts globally. That will include the invasion of Ukraine which has also taken an inconceivable amount of little lives.

Thank you for creating these threads @Ohlalalalala and spreading awareness of just how bad the situation is. It's distressing to hear, but awareness is needed, many people won't know just critical the situation in Gaza has become in such a short period of time.

eardefender · 29/10/2023 15:45

If Hamas really cared about children dying they would immediately surrender and release the hostages and call out to independent mediators to show willing for an immediate ceasefire.
People who kills babies and children do not care about other babies and children under the rubble.
This has been brought home to me by watching interviews with Hamas leaders who look calm, clean, comfortable and well fed from, i presume Doha.
They are very casual about palestinian civilian casualties (not their own of course or their families) the interviews are simply monstrous.
They steal aid from the people and use them as human shields why would they care about Garzans dying?

Do you not get bored not allowing people to express grief over dying children?

CuteAsDuck · 29/10/2023 15:47

It's absolutely horrific.
Shame on the UK government and every other world leadership who has failed to condemn this. Every one who has abstained from or voted against a call for ceasefire - absolutely complicit in the murder of innocents. Complete lack of humanity.

eardefender · 29/10/2023 15:52

@Dinkydaisy1 I think Hamas murder in the lives of all these children is awful. Sorry that doesn't fit your narrative of only expressing grief over the right type of child.

For God's sake we're talking about the CHILDREN! Aren't you tired of being yet another mouthpiece of the genociders??? You should be ashamed of yourself trying to derail a thread about CHILDREN, thousands of children murdered in 3 weeks! Have the decency to let people grieve for human children; OUR children; ALL children.

Your words would fit better on the Daily Mail comments section TBH.

jojonono · 29/10/2023 15:58

To anyone minimising the deaths of the Palestinian children or saying "why bother posting", take a look at this graphic. (Taken from LedbyDonkeys instagram). This is four days ago showing the number of Israeli and Palestinian children who have died as a result in the last few weeks. I suspect in the last four days it has significantly risen in the Palestinian camp.

No child death is ok. But continually pushing the pro-Israli govt agenda in the face of the deaths is getting very tiresome and you're not reading the room. Defending the indefensible. Shame on you.

The number of children killed in Gaza in 3 weeks is more than the total number killed in armed conflict globally last year!
Sourisblanche · 29/10/2023 16:07

It’s horrendous. Those poor children and their families. We were caught up in the protest march in London yesterday. It was peaceful from what we saw but you could feel the collective torment.

I condemn Hamas AND the Israeli Gov AND The West for their reluctance to call a ceasefire.

And, if the Israeli government stopped violating the human rights of Palestinians I quite suspect a lot of this wouldn't have happened. People like you talk as if this all started a few weeks ago, the oppression, deaths, injustices has been going on for years. It's only now that it is being reported widely that people are seeing it. Thankfully common sense seems to be prevailing and the vast amount of public are against the genocide.

Killing Palestinian women and children by multiple thousands is not an effective route to getting rid of Hamas. Indeed, I can only guess that these traumatised families will only have further reason to hate the Israeli govt and maybe even set them on a path towards radicalisation, rather than if the Israeli govt did the grown up thing and negotiate peace and a better life for these citizens who have been deprived of their dignity for decades, deprived of human rights, tortured, imprisoned, deprived of goods and free movement and treated like animals. And no I am not condoning Hamas, before you throw that one into the mix, robot style.

eardefender · 29/10/2023 17:05

does anyone on this thread acknowledge that Hamas use children as human shields and that that is wrong and causing the deaths of children. Its so one sided to say it is Israel and Israel is genocidal.
Does anyone find it wrong that Hamas uses children as human shields and then inflates the figures of deaths for their own purposes.
Israel is not using children as human shields. Israel is not holding babies as hostages.
Hamas are terrorists.
