Come on in, you raddled old caaaaahs, whotchoo waitin' for?

I've gone for a groovy 60s psychedelic theme, so get your fat upper arms comfy in the hanging globe chairs and hide your mememe shame in the glow of the lava lamps!

Russell Howard is our new bartender, although I don't think he's happy at the flares 'n' kipper tie outfit I've forced him to wear. And of course, Mitchell is in the pit, nervously awaiting his first guest.

Let's make this one diffalicious!

YOU MADE THAT CAKE? Christ Well done!

Casserole · 07/05/2010 18:33

Evening ladies. Just to say droid finally beeped.

Casserole · 07/05/2010 18:36

Muser That article's made me cry.

Ariesgirl · 07/05/2010 18:37

Aren't bodies weird? Why so late? Mine still isn't here properly, just dribbling. Is there some kind of BESH epidemic going on?

Sorry Cass

Ariesgirl · 07/05/2010 18:52

That Guardian article is very sad. Very bittersweet at the end when the women see each other's children's age gap and smile a each other.

Good luck to all you lovely BESHies. Through whatever path is takes you.

Headbanger · 07/05/2010 19:08

Oh Cass, old sausage. I am sorry . That article gave me a case of the sads too; but it ends with a lovely note of optimism.

Medee · 07/05/2010 19:09

Evening ladies, not been about for a couple of days so not sure what is new with you.

Sorry to hear that the beepy bastard has arrived, LeCreuset.

Ocarina · 07/05/2010 19:10

Fab cake HB, you are an election food genius. And anonymously famous, hurrah!

I did manage to stop watching politics and do some work eventually, but still have more to get done. Am way too easily distracted.

Medee · 07/05/2010 19:12

Great article, I really like her writing anyway. Liked this line:

People were always saying to me: "If you just forgot about it, you'd get pregnant straight away." For the record, this is the most unhelpful thing you can say to someone with fertility problems.

Ocarina · 07/05/2010 19:12

Ooops, managed to miss a whole page there - doh. Sorry about droid Cass, it's even worse when it messes about like that. Have more chocolate, I've stocked up.

Medee · 07/05/2010 19:12

oh yes, excellent cake!

ginhag · 07/05/2010 20:48

Mr Gin told me about that article just before I came in here. Now I can add 'feeling broken hearted' to today's list of sheer misery.

Along with 'either fork out £700+ to get root canal entirely redone as there is a festering little bit of nerve left at the bottom, or have my tooth pulled out and look like a hideous crone'....

AND I'm coming up to ov time and have been prescribed hardcore anti-bs that are not differ-friendly.

Not that I could fucking get them tonight as there is no pharmacy open for miles.

I think I deserve a medal for conducting 5 interviews today whilst in fucking agony.

oh, stew he ran past me as I walked to work... we were going to the same place as each other as we work together.

RunLyraRun · 07/05/2010 20:54

Really sorry Stewie . Think the droid has arrived here too, but as I was expecting it (because I was away from HO at crucial time) am not too depressed.

Lovely piece from Maggie O'Farrell. I've just got her new book today. Perhaps we could install her in the Palace library, to read her books to us when we are feeling melancholy? She has nice hair too

Have decided that hung parliament is A GOOD THING. We were expecting (dreading) Dave majority, so surely anything else is a bonus? Nick playing a shrewd game so far. And maybe Vince will be able to talk some sense into George. It's all v. interestin', innit.

RunLyraRun · 07/05/2010 20:56

Oh Gin. Snuggle in, lovely, snuggle in. And please to drink this clove cosmo.

ginhag · 07/05/2010 21:09

also... sorry stewie. And sorry I didn't say that before. Am self centred biyatch.

Headbanger · 07/05/2010 21:33

Oh I'm so sorry Gin. If you weren't a double-hard bastard I'd stroke your hair and murmur nicely.

I've had toothy-peg trouble badly too, and ended up having a molar out because I couldn't face afford root canal work; it honestly doesn't show, pal, and if it does you can get a tooth screwed into your jaw. Sozzles, you know all that already, but just can't stand not to TRY and say somefink useful innit.

ginhag · 07/05/2010 21:43

I've used up all my double-hard bastardness for today ead.... needed it to get through all those sodding interviews. So snuggles and hairstrokes from you n lyra would be lovely (but don't tell anyone, right???)

It's not the very back molar though. Am pretty sure that it would show. And am soooooo fucked off as I've already done this once!!

I can't decide if I wish I hadn't read that article. Have been struggling a bit emotionally re the missed miscarriage (as the other shiz, but mostly that) and it really made my heart hurt reading some of that, a lot of what she expressed is the exact stuff I am so sad about...had good chat with mr gin tho... he had warned me that he wasn't sure if article would make me feel better or worse.

Anyway I think I'm gonna go to bed. Am exhausted in mind and body.

thanks for being there chaps. As always this place is a fucking lifeline.

ginhag · 07/05/2010 21:46

as and the other shiz.

Muser · 07/05/2010 22:17

Can I do a big massive hug like the one's my father-in-law does best of all? Proper dad hug. Just what's needed when you're feeling wobbly.

Sorry if the article upset people. It is very sad, but so eloquent I had to link to it.

Scorpette · 07/05/2010 23:26

Cassie, that is crap. Puny silver lining is an end to the mindfuckery, but not the outcome we were all hoping for (ie a win)

Gin, so sorry you've got such awful peggy probs. But just to say, I have a tooth missing at the side at the bottom and I have a wide grin and it's not noticeable at all (or if it is, I don't care). Anything's better than the pain! Now come and sit on Auntie Scorpette's knee and she'll hold a warm compress to your hurty jaw

Also for Lyra's droid. On t'other hand, a lot of us seem to be synchro-droiding, like we're In The Sixth At Mallory Towers, so we can TTC together. With our respective partners, I hasten to add.

Unless someone fancies making me an interesting offer, like

I too read the Maggie o'Farrell article and it really touched me. I love her books anyway (have ordered the new 'un from the library) and she summed things up so well. Great idea to get resident writers in to read to us, Lyra!

Want to sleep but have weird headache where it hurts most to lie down. Great!

OP posts:
ginhag · 08/05/2010 08:59

muse no you're right, was both eloquent and interesting. And mr gin had told me about it already...it was only so hard as it describes very accurately what I have been going through/feeling....and it would be weird if that didn't make me sad I guess.

Ariesgirl · 08/05/2010 09:53

In other news, last night I had a disturbing yet strangely enjoyable dream involving Nick Clegg . I know...not really in Mitchell's league, and a bit weird, but still. Am I the 31st Woman? Who was is whose Mitchell dream was interrupted? Polly's?

MountTheFairy · 08/05/2010 12:13

Oooh, Aries, I know what you mean. I've been ogling Cleggy a bit more than I should myself...

Saying that I won't be patronised that this is why I vote lib-dem. I remember distinctly it was Vince who convinced me before I even knew what Clegg looks like! (I am not saying you are patronising me, but the media and stuff...)

A bit lost with the second bit of your post .

I should really get on with my essay on Chelsea Barracks...

Ariesgirl · 08/05/2010 17:08

Um...I think it was Polly a few months ago was just getting stuck into a delicious dream involving Mitchell from Being Human, when the droid woke her up. Dreadful. The droid woke me up too as it happens and it was very sad.

Re the number 31, didn't Cleggers get tricked into telling Piers Morgan he'd not slept with more than 30 women. I was just musing on being the possibility of being the 31st.

Sorry for my crappy shallow trivialness. I'm trying to distract myself from the pain of the worst evilness in months. I think it would be worth getting pregnant, even for the extremely rubbish reason of not having to menstruate for a while . Does this ring a bell with anyone? The less boob pain, the worse belly pain and vice versa?

MountTheFairy · 08/05/2010 19:50

I think no one is around Maybe they ran away because for once I am around.

Very sorry Ariadne. Tis an evil bugger. I had an unbelievable 32 day period last month and it sucked when it arrived. Tis all shit news around here lately isn't it? But I am happy to go trivial with you if it is of any consolation (all that I can offer at the mo ).

Yes, I know Mitchell's been tied up in the pit, but didn't know he came through Polly's dream! Should we go and play with him? Don't think he's had any company recently.

As for Cleggster: ha ha I forgot about that! Yes, he looks like he may have been a ladies man once upon a time. Mmmm. Sorry. My friends make fun of me for liking clean cut guys. Saying that my hubby is completely the opposite .

As for the droid, I get shit cramps but usually pop a painkiller and then I am fine. Is it bad that I pop at least 2, sometimes 4 Neurofen's each month? Once a gyno told me that wimmin in cities get worse cramps because their cervix contracts due to lack of oxygen . I thought that was one of the more far fetched theories I had heard...
