A new thread! This is for anyone who is trying to conceive their first child - anyone welcome!

The current stats list is shown below, UCL means usual cycle length, and CD is cycle day.

In theory the person who starts the thread gets a BFP before the end, but I'll just be happy to get AF turn up again!

My colleague is due to give birth at the end of June, and has been practising the hypnobirthing thing. Her friend had a nice easy birth while using the techniques, and me and my colleague are both of the "I don't care if it's hippyish if it works" mentality! Some of it does sound funny though, she was telling me all about her "peace sanctuary" the other day It sounded nice, actually. I think my peace sanctuary would be a warm walled garden full of fruit trees and flowers and a swing seat hanging from a tree branch...

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 22/04/2010 22:28

That's a good debate opener, EvilOne. What would everyone's peace sanctuary be? Mine would be a flower studded clifftop covered in gorse and pinks with skylarks singing their hearts out overhead and the sea lapping in and out on golden sand. Oh and somehow a string orchestra playing Vaughan Williams's theme on Thomas Tallis, the most beautiful music ever composed. I feel relaxed already

CaveMum · 22/04/2010 22:32

A secluded country meadow on a sunny summers day for me. Lying under a shady tree, long grass, birdsong and the occasional snort from my (imaginary) horse grazing nearby.

Hhhhmmmmm!

Hermya321 · 22/04/2010 22:37

Oooo just popped in to have a nosy and couldn't resist posting.

I have to say my santuary would be a big blue Tardis with a very happy to see me Doctorish David Tennent who had posh chocolates and lots of red wine.

In reality it would be a lovely sandy beach with a blue ocean and the sun shining in a clear blue sky and all I would be able to hear would be the breeze and the waves of the sea crashing against the sand. I would be the only one on it as well, and the sand would be of the stay on the beach and not on me variety.

I want a holiday.

claire196 · 22/04/2010 22:50

a bottle of red and a pack of fags.

No? Sitting in a rainforest clearing with beautiful music all around and the dappled moonlight shining through the canopy.

aly323 · 23/04/2010 00:41

I know I'm a little slow, but I want to say a quick Congratulations!!! to Zippys!!! Awwww, you're engaged!

I'm still a little raw over the last few weeks, but I'll hopefully be back before too long.

Morning everyone! Its friday and St Georges day. I actually wouldn't have known that but the news told me. Does anyone do anything celebrate St George's day?

Those peace sancturys sound heavenly. Mine would probably involve a music festival. The sun would shining down, soaking into my skin and bones feeling like its healing me. All my favourite bands would be on and I could just watch and listen from the back seeing everything really clearly. I wouldn't be alone but no one would be bothering me or in my way.

Just in TTC news I got my ovulation pinpointed on FF. It happened the on day 12, the day I got my first CBFM peak. Guess that means i'm in the 2ww wait now.

zippys · 23/04/2010 09:30

Morning fellow frolickers, driven to work in new car (its black Halo) had to repark about 3 times in the car park as we have a very little car park and worried people will knock it as its so big so had to get the angle right and as I am the first in I have the whole car park to play with! But it is now parked . I am so so pleased with it, just need some babies to put in it now

Aries I also sound like a hypochondriac at times - more importantly than cheese can you still eat chocolate? Waxing isnt that painful really, although I cant grow my hairs long enough to wax them - which I have actually found out could be realated to my hormone issue, if you have PCOS you are more hairly generally and I am the opposite so could have more female hormones than male- will have to wait for tests for proper answer but things are starting to make sense at last.

Womanlytales good luck with the clomid- kepping my fingers crossed it will work for you.

Headbanher it is so difficult not to have false optimisim, BUT you will have to tell all of us!

Mrswaj glad to hear things are going a bit better with the witch. Her mother sounds like a witch too! Glad you got your ring sorted in the end it must have been gutting opening up a ring which was nothing like you wanted. We are considering making my wedding ring from the diamonds in a ring my Grandma gave me. She died a couple of months ago and we thought it would be really nice to use the diamonds from her ring but I will have to ask my Mum and Grandad if they are happy with that first.

Hi Claire I know what you mean about cycle 10 been a really hard one to cope with but then it gets easier for a bit- I think you should book a doctors appointment on the basis you are nearly at 12 months - then hopefully that will mean you will get your BFP!

White nice to hear from you - was starting to worry about you. Glad the sickness has got a little better (yes I am really hoping for the BFP as my magical third)

Kkas early june isnt too long (although I was like a kid having to wait a few days so I appreciate it will feel like ages!!) Your engagement story is lovely too. I can am so excited as not even my mum and dad know yet!!

Cavemum that story is horrific - will make sure I keep up with waxing of bikini line when pregnant - just when I thought that would be an excuse not to bother!!! Re doula - if money was no object I would train to be a doula - it would be my ideal job. Unfortunalty accountancy pays a lot better

Flick hope things are better with PIL this morning - it sounds horrible (hugs) Glad to hear that they are getting closer to diagnosing your Dad, its the unknowing thats so horrible isnt it. Not sure of date for wedding it depends on fertility situation but hopefully soon - if I was slimmer I would say it would be this summer but I need to loose about 3-4 stone before then BUT have got new excercise machine which is amazing, my muscles were aching this morning so it must be working

Halo I need to book in for my smear - not my first but still putting it off I hate shaving down there would much rather get someone to wax otherwise its too itchy (right enough of tmi!!) Dont worry you will know when I get the ring and will get full verse on the proposal

Re hypno birthing, I quite fancy looking into to a bit more and will do so when I got BFP, it think anything that helps relax you is worth a try.

aly nice to hear from you -thanks for the congrats. Hope you are doing ok (big un-mumsnet hugs

Right will have to finish post later as got side tracked and now need to get on with work.

Hope everyone has a lovely day

MrsWajs · 23/04/2010 11:03

Thumbs up to Zippys for your black car - it is the only colour to have!! Says me who has a grey one (only cus it wasn't available in black )

Intrigued by the whole hypnobirthing thing - haven't heard anyone speaking of it before - no doubt because it isn't available in my area, we always seem to be the last to hear of new things out in the scottish sticks!!

Can't remember who it was mentioned the GFJ to me upthread but I'm blaming it for causing aforementioned thrush so will be giving it a widebirth for now - can't say I'm entirely bothered about it either since it tasted vile!!

Well I checked out my charting website this morning and someone has left me a post suggesting that I may have ov'd on day 16 as I have a temp rise on day 17, I only started OPK'ing on day 17 but would have missed the LH surge if I ov'd the day before so that explains the negatives I've been getting! I'm still not entirely convinced although that all makes perfect sense but I really didn't feel like I ov'd - thankfully DP and I SWI'd on day 16 & 17 so hoping that was enough! So i guess from that I am (maybe) 5 days into my 2ww - only time will tell, continuing with SWI every 2nd day just incase - don't want to make same mistakes as last month!!

Halo had to laugh at your smear story - I am always worried that the nurse is eyeballing my hair removal attempts when I go, to the extent that I once told her I hadn't had time to do it and apologised for my hairyness (sp) - she just laughed and said she'd seen a lot worse!!
Can I ask what age you are? Sorry if that's rude, I just wondered as you said it was your first smear? I believe the system in England is different to that in Scotland as I had my first smear at 18 (admittedly at my own request)!
Glad I did though as by the age of 22 I had all kinds of things going wrong down there and ended up having cryotherapy to remove cancerous cells and to treat an erosion which was causing abnormal bleeding. God such a happy story for Friday morning, I'll just stop there before I freak anyone out! Needless to say I'm a strong advocate of regular smear testing no matter how embarrassing or uncomfortble it may be!

Anyway hope that's not depressed anyone too much and you all have a fab Friday!!

Ooooh has anyone heard from Dinky she seems to be awol??

wannamummy · 23/04/2010 12:22

Happy Friday everyone!

All the engagement stories have been fab. My DH proposed under the sphynx in Egypt in the baking sun surrounded by Japanese tourists - romantic it was not! He then told me he couldn't afford to buy a ring for 3 wks until he got paid so I went in a huff.... When we got home, on the way to tell my folks (his live in Ireland), he stopped the car at a nice picnic spot looking out onto hills, sheep, a wee church (blah blah)... Getting out the car for a walk (still in huff) I sat on a bench. DH then got down on one knee, ring in hand and proposed again! The bugger had the ring all along, and it was one I had seen weeks b4 we went on holiday! How BAD did I feel!?! We will have been married three years in June.

Turning to TTC - no more news to report. No sign of AF, still getting tummy cramps every now and again, but I am eating like a horse. Every 1/2 hr my tummy's rumbling and I have to eat or I feel really sick.

So far today I've had 2 weetabix, an apple, a packet of crips, a twix and waiting for Pizza Hut to arrive to share a pizza with one of the girlies in the office... PIG ALERT!!!

If nothing by Sunday or Monday I think I will test again. Finding it very hard not to get carried away with 'what if's!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Ariesgirl · 23/04/2010 12:44

Blimey, I'm going to have to give my DH a retrospective poke in the eye for being so crap. I didn't get my ring for 8 months and I had to go and choose it! He then made up his wedding speech on the spot at the wedding and didn't mention me in it once, just said "thanks for coming" etc. But I adore him and wouldn't swap him for anyone. Ok, maybe George Clooney...

Zippys the new car sounds great. Lets hope you can fill it with baby paraphernalia soon.

Felicity, that sounds like a pretty traumatic scene. But at least they saw sense in the end.

MrsW I'm afraid to say I'm one of those people who are scared stiff of smears. I think it's because when I was very little I was taken along by my mum to one of hers. She thought I think that I was too little to notice, but I turned round and saw what appeared to be my mummy with her legs in the air and her feet in claws, a sinister looking man standing over her with a pair of giant scissors in his hands and a woman holding her down. I honestly think it scarred me for life, but it was one of those memories that only surfaced when I was working out at the age of about 22 exactly what I was so afraid of. Identifying it as the problem doesn't make it any less scary

PinkiePoo · 23/04/2010 13:30

Its Friday....thank god yet feeling a little bit like i need lots of sympathy.....so altogether now....;-)

everything is ok, actually had a good morning, taught a new class today which was great fun for 2 years+. They were amazing and their little faces smiling, is totally the reason why i love doing what i do.

However, as i was teaching, i started getting the cramps, which i have been getting now for past month with no arrival of AF (CD50) and without shoving too much gory detail down ya throats...i felt a sudden flow of thing downstairs .....convinced AF had finally arrived, and yet....NOTHING GOD DAMNIT! JUst lots of the horrible stuff (you get my jist) and now stabbing pains on my right side....totally fed up with stupid cycles!

And to top it off i have no lovely engagement story to share

wow what a totally self-indulgent post!

Other than that, ITS FRIDAY!!!!!

Hope everyone is well and womanly i really hope the Clomid works for you, completely rooting for you

OneOf8 · 23/04/2010 14:15

ha ha Aries - "retrospective poke in the eye for being so crap" If OH had realised through his sheer panic thought about what I had said to him seconds before he proposed - I am sure I would have been single coming home from Greece that year!

Halo truth be old, I am using this cycle as a base line to calculate my UCL as I thought I had it, then had the af-deserting-me-and-leaving-me-to-wonder-WTF-is-going-on-as-have-had-a-couple-of-af's-since-coming-o ff-the-pill issue. Not overly sure what to expect this month as CD 22, and UCL was about 29 (average) but given af was MIA think I should not assume this to be UCL as body has apparently gone through re-set, so could be a little while before settling down completely

See, told you I was more sane now!! ? Admittedly still slightly crazy

Think I ov?d last week as had the funny feelings in my abdomen ? really hard to explain, but you know the feeling of excitement? Like that then extra mild cramp which were almost unnoticeable.

Had mild feelings (not sure how to refer to them) like cramps, but not the normal ones last night so expecting af any time in the next week/10 days. At this stage no emotions to go with the expectation of af, as will be grateful for a) regular cycle to use for monitoring, b) cycle that is not too different to what I assumed was the usual cycle from before.

Pinkiepoo really feeling for you ? I was waiting from end of January (when expected) till April 2nd to have a ?proper? af, which wasn?t so long looking at my situation sensibly, still, remember how rubbish and confusing it was not knowing what was happening, crazy-thoughts went into overdrive!

womanlytales good luck x

Hope everyone else is enjoying Friday ? only a few more hours till the weekend!

OneOf8 · 23/04/2010 14:20

sorry - 2 errors - should be truth be Told

and MIA would have been more appropriately referred to as MALOA (missing and lack of appearance)!

PinkiePoo · 23/04/2010 15:53

one i know how frustrating!!

almost 9 months of being off the pill and my cycles are still all over the place and now this one which is just gone KERPOOF >>>imagine lots of smoke after some special magical AF disappearing act!

Ah well....such is sodding life as they sodding well say!

felicityFlick · 23/04/2010 17:07

Will be popping back for an update tomorrow or Sunday but just wanted to tell you that the pils are going on Monday! Yay! They have had there last night with us as they are in a hotel tonight, Sat and Sun and are off on Monday morning. So happy. Back soon xx

PinkiePoo · 23/04/2010 17:12

HO-RAR, HO-RAR......THE PILS HAVE GONE!!

You go out and celebrate girl then get SWIing all over the shop and make as much noise as poss!

papertiger · 23/04/2010 18:01

Hello!
Sorry to have been missing for a couple of weeks. Been trying to not think about the whole TTC issue as much, although clearly thats not possible! Congratulations to those with BFPs since my last post!

wannamummy we are on exactly the same cycle day and I think we seem to be in the exact same position too! Sorry for your recent BFN but lets hope it was too early. I have been feeling nauseous when I wake up for the last week or so, and more so today as I had only a small lunch so just eaten a chocolate muffin to try to curb hunger pangs! I feel quite tired a lot too, but I'm trying not to read too much in to these things as I was the same in December and then came down with a bug of some kind. I've decided that if no AF I may test on Sunday. Don't want to test sooner after my 40 day cycle last month and it all gets a bit costly/stressful! Odds on surely one of us has to get a BFP, lets hope both! Good luck x

I will leave the engagement story for another post as need to get on with some cooking before I pass out but been lovely reading everyone elses

CaveMum · 23/04/2010 18:12

Hi all, really busy day for me so just checking in.
Had some visitors to work so have spent the day in glorious sunshine showing people round studs in the town - lots of cute foals, including 1 born last night, and gorgeous stallions.

Got to take DH to Cambridge now for another boys night out - it's his mates birthday & he is off to Afghan next month.

Pop back later.

Junglebob · 23/04/2010 19:45

Hello - can I join? My stats are TTC#1, Cycle 5, UCL31-36, CD32.

No chance of being pregnant this month - we decided to take a break - but hoping that cycle 6 will be the one! I've had two chemical pregnancies so far so trying not to think that something must be wrong.

Hopefully this trend will prove lucky!

Junglebob · 23/04/2010 19:53

that should have said 'thread will prove lucky!'

haloflo · 23/04/2010 20:16

Evening all. DP is making me some fajitas so I thought i'd catch up with you all. (he has now made the fajitas and they were good - just now having a break before washing up.)
We have just back from his nans where his cousin, his cousins wife and their newborn were visiting. Their little one is just 6 weeks old & I got to hold her for a few mins before she got hungry. Was lovely and filled me with happiness.

zippys Our car is black too! Good colour. Mines less good at the moment as it needs a good wash. I'm sure you will get used the size really quickly and as you say, a big car is ideal for your future family. Your ring sounds like it would be really special.

mrswajs GFJ did nothing good for me although fortunatly didn't do me any harm. I'm not that convinced either. Maybe I didn't start on it early enough though? I didn't even get a tiny bit of EWCM that I noticed this month.

Course I don't mind you asking how old I am - i've just turned 25. As far as I know in England its 25 before you get your first smear. I think I lost out due a change of rules. A friend who is just 1 year older had her first aged 21. I am glad I went as I wasn't that bad & clearly I would also want to catch any abnormalies early. I also wanted to go whilst I knew I wasn't pg. I don't know what cryotherapy is (and I'm guessing I shouldn't google?) but that sounds horrid and is a clear sign that 25 is too old to first go.

If theres anyone else whos never been aires' story was nothing like my reality and I hope its been noone elses either. Poor you though aires and your mum - no wonder you hate it. That memory is horrific.

wannamummy Thats also a good engagement story. Lovely planning by your DH. Don't feel bad about that food if its what your body wants! I got nausea before AF last time - it was rubbish. I hope your AF stays away & the nausea is for a good reason.

pinkie Aged 2 plus dancing? That sounds so cute! Sorry if it was recently but when did you last POAS? Hope you feel better now its friday night and saturday is just around the corner. Get your feet up with a glass of vino.

oneof8 Why don't our bodies make sense? Your missing AF sounds familar on this board. I hope this cycle makes sense for you and ends with a BFP.

felicity Enjoy your freedom! Although as I say that didn't you say you had friends visiting? Enjoy their company although I bet you can't wait to be alone with just your DH.

papertiger Good luck your with testing on sunday. It must be hard to know when you are late with long cycles. Fingers crossed its your month. April got off a good start, lets get a few more BFP's before its over!

cavemum Poor you, left alone after a week apart but I can understand why your DH has to go out. Hope you & him get to spend some time together tomorrow & sunday.

Dinky You out there? I hope you are ok & AF is over for you and you are just busy starting the pre season fun.

junglebob Love the name! Welcome to the definatly lucky crazy baby thread. I'll get you on the list tomorrow morning if I get chance to do it. Sorry to hear about your losses, that must have been awful. Have you been to the docs about it?

PinkiePoo · 23/04/2010 20:56

halo i am VERY jealous...i LOVE fajitas. I have just popped my feet with my fix of Glee (being a dance/musical theatre teacher, this programme has me written all over it) but shamefully out of vino so stole DP budweiser....mmmm!

I last POAS about 2 weeks ago. I really now i am not, it surely would have shown up by then plus have absolutely no symptoms whatsoever...was so weird today though, this stitch like pain, alot of im sorry i hate this word, so will whisper - discharge but all gone now. weird, weird and i officially dislike my body a lot!

wannamummy · 23/04/2010 21:00

Thank you papertiger it is hard not to become obsessed and symptom spot! Like you, I may have slipped back to a long cycle which messes with your head.

I have another test on standby, just incase...!

Morning all. I'm doing some overtime today so up early and trying to pretend its a weekday.

Junglebob you are on the list.

Oneof8 You are also on the list but we are mising your cycle number. Sorry if you said it and I've missed it.

pinkie Your night in with a beer & glee sounded good. I watched it monday & thought it was hilarious this week. It might be worth testing again but just to double check. Some people have no symptoms at all. I don't want to push you but might be worth a go.

I hope everyone else has a good saturday and they aren't stuck in an office!
