The current stats list is shown below, UCL means usual cycle length, and CD is cycle day.

In theory the person who starts the thread gets a BFP before the end, but I'll just be happy to get AF turn up again!

Congratulations pipsicles! muser I understand how you feel, I really hated that too, but in some cases it's true. For me, it was a case of 'give up all hope and it will happen!', not that I'm suggesting anyone do that! Perhaps just trying to focus less on TTC is the key, though I know it's not easy!

haloflo · 06/06/2010 15:44

Congratulations pipsicles. That's brill news especially after such a long cycle. I wish you all the best for your pregnancy.

Today I have mostly been ignoring the 2ww and staying busy. We went to Lakeland kitchen shop in windermere & I've come online to search for recipes to cook in my shiny new tagine!

Hermya321 · 06/06/2010 17:31

Congratulations Pipsicles!!! Brilliant news!!!

The grads thread is here, if you wish to pop in and say hello!!

CaveMum · 06/06/2010 20:43

Muser I certainly didn't mean to offend you.

I agree that, when put in certain terms and coming from certain people, it can be patronising, but it was not meant in that way from me. We are all in the same boat remember.

However, look at how many ladies in recent weeks have come on with a BFP and said that they had stopped stressing and over-analysing beforehand.

I'm sorry if my comments upset you, it was never my intention to upset anyone.

Ariesgirl · 06/06/2010 20:51

It does seem to happen a fair bit certainly, that someone decides it will never happen so stops stressing about it and it does then happen. I had some friends who had IVF because of difficulties and then conceived naturally when she was 41, which was brilliant. However there are lots of issues that no amount of relaxing will address.

Muser · 06/06/2010 21:05

I wasn't offended Cavemum, please don't feel bad. I think my post came out wrong. Just having a bad day.

Bellaby · 06/06/2010 22:30

Hello All

I'm back from my break. Was down in Devon walking with my Mum - tiring but very good. Worst thing was that phone reception was terrible so I had no chance of posting whilst I was there. Still I've now managed to catch up with what's been going on.

Wow what a busy past week it has been. Many congrats to applecharlotte, chalky, papertiger, wannamummy & pips - I'm so happy there will be a group of us going through the next 9 months together. Hopefully this month will bring plenty of luck to all our other friends on here!

Felicity - I love that you have already started packing for your holiday! Hope that you manage to find some leak-proof containers otherwise you might end up with a very unhappy DH !

Claire - hope that you are still ok and will be able to pop by again soon. It's not the same without you

Cavemum - I could have done with a few tips yesterday as was at Epsom. Managed to back the winning horse in the Derby (and the second & third places!) but unfortunately lost more than that in the other races. Still it was a good fun day out. Well done on being accepted onto your course - you certainly will be a busy lady!

Zippys -sorry to hear that you are having frustrations with the system - that sounds very annoying. Where abouts do you live? That sort of thing really annoys me!

Aries -sorry to hear about likely arrival of AF. You really deserve to have some luck

Haloflo - sorry to hear you've been feeling low. Hope the TV stand arrived on Sat - what a pain having to wait in all day for it.

cherry & lanky- hope you have great holidays!

MrsWajs -hope you get on well with the CBFM. I never really got going with mine as the long cycle just confused the poor thing. Let's hope this holiday is a lucky one for you

Hello to everyone else -sorry not to be able to mention everyone else individually - just on my way to bed.

Lots of love

Bellaby

yumstepmum · 06/06/2010 22:33

Shameful re-post from another thread, but any advice about how much hope I should hold out for a BFP this month greatly appreciated:

New to MN and not yet TTC, waiting a couple of months but have had a 'go' this month. DH felt like it, although just want to wait a couple more months for pat leave reasons next year. The one 'go' was around 5 days before ov - I've all my fingers crossed for a miracle - is it possible it could happen? Usually just use w/drawal method so have been jumping DH on a fairly regular basis in the hope of an accident!

GL to all

MrsWajs · 06/06/2010 22:54

Evening all!

pipsicles Congratulations!! Can't believe that's another BFP already!!

Well I'm def not pg, did another test after the weird spotting/on/off period which was BFN. Think you are right about temps too halo and they are still low. Just very strange that I've had this weird AF!! Hope everything sorts itself out. CD 6 on the CBFM tomorrow so first test! Hope I don't mess it up!

Anyway I'm off to bed - feeling a tad hungover!!

CaveMum · 07/06/2010 07:00

Muser not to worry, I've been feeling a tad over-sensitive for a dew days - a sure sign AF is approaching!
I'm surprised we don't have more fallings out on here, considering all the raging hormones!

yumstepmum, welcome! Really you should wait at least 2 weeks after ovulation before testing as pg tests are only 75% accurate up to 14 days after ovulation - a shocking stat that I did not know till joining Mumsnet!

As far as the likleyhood of pg goes, it us hard to say! It all depends on whether you are certain when you ovulated and how resilient your partners sperm is! From what I understand the egg will only survive fir about 12 hours after ovulation, but sperm can live for up to 48-72 hours if they are strong swimmers!

You can never say never! Fingers crossed for you, let us know how you get on. If it doesn't work out for you this cycle do come back and join us for lots of first time gossiping and support!

MrsWajs sorry you got another BFN. Roll on the wine and chocolate!

LankyLegs · 07/06/2010 08:48

Ooh - great news - just wanted to say congratulations pips!

Hope everyone else is well and had a good weekend - will eb back to catch up later!

womanlytales · 07/06/2010 10:10

Pip Congratulations - am very happy for you
Mrswajs About the wierd AF this cycle - I know personally how easy it is to get down about such things - so am glad that you're looking forward to using the cbfm - best of luck with that. Have a lovely holiday too
halo big hug to you - the 2ww is an awful period and I really am sending you a wave of goodness to help you bounce back to your usually positive self. Glad to hear you're keeping busy too.

Cavemum, muser, Aries - - I get to hear the 'relax' comment quite a bit. Y'day my mil said it too. Though it's very difficult to hear, I've come to recognize that it is really what helps. So I have a meter in my head where I have plotted my 'lowest' point [obsessing about everything, emotions high and low and very bouncy - like a ride at a fair type craziness] and then each time I get a bit wobbly I think of my lowest point and then congratulate myself if I am not there. So like I told my mil - in Mar-Apr when I was on Clomid [with no scans or monitoring] I had reached my lowest point. Since May I've been much better and while I don't think I'll get to a point of 'relaxing' like during the days I didn't want to get pregnant where I am at now is a good place. The other thing that has worked is being busy so that I don't have time to go through all the threads in mumsnet or visit all the pregnancy sites I can or take all the 'due date calculator' quizzes I can.... Switching off mumsnet over the weekend also is a good plus for me - - it's not this thread or you guys who are absolutely great -- but it's my tendency to just consume all this information without realizing that I have a threshold to all the permutations/combinations that I can imagine I am going through...

OK- long story over.
This week I have a D21 progesterone test to take that I am thinking of taking on D20 when I meet a specialist. Need to figure out where I am at post the ovarian drilling in Jan. Fingers crossed for a specialist who will give me some straight answers and not bounce me back to my GP who's clearly said he's not in a position to help anymore.

kkas · 07/06/2010 10:46

AF here. was going to update the stats, but it's been a few days I think and I really can't be bothered - sorry! can someone else please update my cycle to Cycle 11, Day 1 when they get a chance? thanks

aries any news from my cycle bud?

Ariesgirl · 07/06/2010 11:13

Hi kkas - am in midst of first day AF glumness, cramping and snappiness. Not a good day in the Aries household. But at least it's better than the days before when you start getting the dark hints that it's on its way. Onwards and upwards. How about you - any better news?

Womanly I hear what you're saying. And I've come to the conclusion just do whatever works for you personally. But because it's such a personal and sensitive subject I think the world at large needs to think a bit more before opening its big gob. I told my brother (who I never see, ever) to get stuffed on the phone yesterday when he asked me if I had "any plans". Being a brother he didn't take offence but I feel another tack would be required for well-meaning little old ladies and people at work.

Welcome to all the new people, love to see you here Hopefully your visit will be short and we'll all meet again over in the grads thread!

Congrats pipsicles!! Really hope I haven't forgotten anyone who has had a BFP recently, I'm losing track!

Stil no AF here and am on CD38, though with all the illness (bloody 24hour stomach bug - seems to be off round the village now) and the stress (had to call 999 on the neighbours the other night) I'm going to hold out testing a bit longer. Especially as I got a BFN on Thursday.

This may be that my body is too knackered to menstruate - don't blame it. I'm exhausted! Haven't got up off the sofa for 3 days now

womanlytales · 07/06/2010 16:52

Welcome sarahavon Aries I remember telling my bro about my PCO and he responded with an 'Adopt'!!!!!Wierd love and this is such a personal issue.
Kaloki Hope you feel better soon.

CaveMum · 07/06/2010 17:57

Welcome sarahavon if you want to know when you are ovulating then charting your temperatures will give a strong indication (after the fact). You can pick up a basal body temperature thermometer pretty cheaply - mine cost £3.95 from here

Plus you may, like me and many others before me, discover your inner charting geek!

kaloki sorry to hear that you are still feeling rough. Those kind of bugs are never fun.

On the cave front things are looking good for a longer cycle this time round. AF was due today, based on last months 19 day cycle, and I have yet to feel any signs of her imminant arrival. She can't be far off though as I've been a bit weepy and oversensitive (as usual for my AF) this weekend.

zippys · 07/06/2010 19:56

hi everyone, a flying visit I am afraid.

Congrats to pipsicle. Sorry I put you MIA but it obviously worked!!

Kkas and aries sorry to hear of AF arrival.

Kaloki hope you feel better soon.

Must dash - huge wave to everyone else including newbies. xxx

Hermya321 · 07/06/2010 20:10

Hello SarahAvon welcome to what seems to be the luckiest thread on Mumsnet, you'll love it here. Also try Fertility friend, it's very helpful if you want to try charting and also has a mini course on all things regarding fertility. I'm still waiting for my certificate, I wonder if I'll be able to add it to my CV. Don't think it will impress any future employers that much though.

'Yes well I know nothing about filing and computers, but I know all there is to know about cervical mucus.'

Kaloki I hope you feel better soon!!

Khas and Aries Sorry to hear about AF, here's hoping for next month for both of you.

almostknockedupgirl · 07/06/2010 20:13

You can get a certificate from Fertility Friend? [bonkers emoticon]

And whoo boy! I hope some of this thread's luck rubs off on me.

Morning all, I hope the stats are right now. Let me know if I've made any mistakes as its been at few days and its early in the morning.

Sorry about AF aires and kkas, hope you both feel ok today and ready for the next (odd numbered!) cycles.

Welcome almostknockedup - your last post made me laugh. Bet you can't wait for AF and your first cycle.

Welcome to sarahavon too. By the way what cycle day are you on?

kaloki I hope you are feeling better today and AF is still a no show.

womanly I hope your test this week goes ok. Whats actually involved in a day 21 test? This the one where they check you are ovulating?

mrswaj Sorry about the BFN. Did peeing on your first CBFM stick go ok? Its sad to see that low fertility sign but im sure it will quickly go high until you get a peak .

MrsWajs · 08/06/2010 09:00

Good morning girls!!

Hello to the new peeps sarahavon and almostknockedupgirl

Well.....it is officially ONE MORE SLEEP til I go on holiday!! How excited do I wanna be!!! Not totally excited about having to get up at 6am tomorrow morning but it'll all be worth it.

Halo first and second pee's have gone fine, just waiting for something to happen other than the low reading, sure it won't be too far away though. Expecting to go high round about Saturday-ish, so will no doubt be at it like rabbits while we're away - hope the bed is half decent!! He he he.
I hope that AF spotted it's last spot yesterday so can now stop faffing about with panty liners on and off all the bloody time!!

Anyway got a thousand things to do today, case still to pack (!!) and getting pedicure at half 10 and as luck would have it, it's pissing down with rain!! So have to get on just now but will check in again tonight before I head to bed. Good luck to everyone while I'm away, I hope to come back to some more BFP's and lot's of other good news

LankyLegs · 08/06/2010 09:21

MrsWajs I feel you excitement! I only have 4 more sleeps to go (actually 3.5 sleeps have to get up at 4am for a 6.30am flight!) I seriously cannot wait either. Anyway - awesome that peak time is when you are away though - pot luck or good planning?! Hope you have a fab time! I think everyone should have holidays booked - esp since this TTC malarkey can get pretty demoralising after a period of time (esp after the initial few months of trying)

Hello sarahavon and almostknockedupgirl (great name btw) everyone here is lovely I would second what cavemum said - I just started temping after 7.5 months of trying and wish I had done sooner.

Womanly just wanted to say good luck with your tests - I am currently at home just waiting to go into the doctors to have mine this morning too. Hope you get some positive news after your ovarian drilling as well (that sounds super painful )

Halo how is the 2ww going? Are you on it now? To answer your question about tests I am having done - I have been having cramps from ovulation to AF since coming off the pill the last year which seem to last the 2 weeks of the last part of my cycle - having been to the GP a couple of times they brushed it off - but went back again and she referred me for an ultrasound and also DH for tests since we were getting me looked at.
Kaloki sorry you are feeling like shite - sounds pretty awful. Hope it passes soon.

Hello to anyone I have missed! Off to GP now and then work but going to a private screening of SATC this evening in cocktail dresses so looking forward to that!

cherrycobbler · 08/06/2010 10:04

morning all!

pips congrats - fab news!

mrsW and lanky enjoy your hols! I am so jealous that I am now back from mine - although am trying to convince DH to go away again in Sept. Sorry about AF MrsW - but as you say the good thing about the shortness of it is that you can relax in your bikini when away! Holiday SWI sounds like a Good Plan. Always good to have something to do when its just too hot mid-afternoon to sit outside...

flo sorry to hear you were feeling a bit blue - perfectly understandable to be honest, particularly with this 2ww. Hope you're keeping busy plan worked. Lakeland is like the Promised Land for me. I am very very far from domestic goddess-ry but there's something about all those gadgets. How do you live without a pineapple corer? Even if you never eat pinapples?

womanly have my fingers crossed for your appt - let us know how it goes. Your GP sounds like he's being a bit unhelpful - has he been good up till now?

Kaloki - don't move off that sofa till you feel fully recovered! Hope you feel better soon.

zippys - package of encouragement coming your way! That PCT/NHS/catchment area bonkerness is just RIDICULOUS. Completely ridiculous. Is your appt this week? Hope it goes well - and that they are a bit more helpful.

Finally, aly, if you're still lurking, hope your tests etc went well and all is progressing smoothly - luckyseven, lovely to hear an update from you (I feel like I'm jinxing things looking at the grads thread so can't go there!) and really glad scan went well!

Phew think have caught up now - hols were heavenly, thanks for all the bon voyage wishes! AF caught up with me and am now on CD4 - am completely lame so won't attempt to update lists, but could the next lovely competent person update my stats for me? [hopeful and slightly shamefaced emoticon]. Felt pretty crap the morning of AF's arrival but long lunch with lots of soft cheese, charcuterie and gallons of chilled wine, in the sun, by the pool soon picked me up. Shame I can't do that every time AF arrives...
