A new thread! This is for anyone who is trying to conceive their first child - anyone welcome!

The current stats list is shown below, UCL means usual cycle length, and CD is cycle day.

In theory the person who starts the thread gets a BFP before the end, but I'll just be happy to get AF turn up again!

How weird kaloki?? I'm going to say the old classic to you, but only because I mean it 'test again in a few days if af has still not arrived'

Hermya321 · 04/06/2010 09:14

Oh Kaloki I'm sorry about your BFN, if you are going to try again try and do it in the morning with your FMU.

CaveMum · 04/06/2010 09:31

kaloki sorry to hear that. As others have said perhaps try again in a few days and with your first wee of the day?

Dont forget that pregnancy tests can be unreliable early on - they are only 75% reliable up to 14 days post ovulation.

I've put the stats up for PT reliability before, but here they are again:

10 days post ovulation =35%
11dpo=51%
12dpo=62%
13dpo=68%
14dpo=74%
15dpo=80%
16dpo=88%
17dpo=92%

MrsWajs · 04/06/2010 10:44

Kaloki never say never my dear. Was looking at the list but see you're in the waiting section so no UCL in there. Are you late-late or just about due or still early even??
I don't want to give false hope but a colleague at work told me just the other day that when she was pregnant she was vomitting all over the place but her tests were still coming up negative until she was 6 weeks gone!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will have to buy a bigger pattern for your wedding dress!!

Sorry yet again have forgotten to re-read the other posts before starting this message!

Back in a mo..............

MrsWajs · 04/06/2010 11:19

Right try again!

womanly & paper thanks for your kind wishes, I am back to feeling positive again! Just always seem to get down when AF appears but never lasts long! I know it will be my turn soon enough! And paper lucky you with the no nausea, hopefully you'll not get any at all!

cavemum I agree with whoever else said that taking on a part time degree will almost certainly guarantee an immediate BFP!!Wee poem there for you too haha!

cherry have a fab time on your hols and I hope the witch doesn't decide to tag along for the ride! I was also freaking slightly about the prospect of bikini's and AF but think I'll be ok!

flick I was also worrying a wee bit about time differnces and CBFM but think you have it way harder than me!! Lol @ your sister finding your wee samples - how bizarre would it be trying to explain that!!

Zippys Am very on your behalf about the fertility referral, yet another shining example of the postcode lottery that is the NHS!!!

seablue I think I'm gonna take a leaf out of your book and do EVERYTHING I'm not supposed to on my holidays and hope that I have the same luck as you!! Congrats again

Aries Sorry AF is on her wicked way - have a vino on me!

lucky I'm actually feeling ok about the CBFM, read the destructions cover to cover again and think I'm pretty confident about using it, will keep you posted tho and email you if any probs (although that might be a bit difficult from cyprus!!)

wannamummy I totally sympathse with your poor DH's pain! Emergency dentist is never good, hope he feels better soon!

And now me - well AF is misbehaving!! Started with my one spot on Tuesday, then had a fairy average flow Wednesday, then overnight again nothing, very light Thursday and now today completely stopped!?! I am a bit confused. And to top all that I have horrendous thrush again!! I'm not sure if it's a reaction to the antibiotics or not but seems strange it would be only in the downstairs department! My body is not playing the game at all this week. My friend is still trying to convince me that I may be pg but I have had consistently low temps since the spotting started so doubt I am. Anyone have any thought? Oh and sorry if TMI!!

felicityFlick · 04/06/2010 12:27

In a real rush but had to say mrsW Have you POAS as paper had some similar on and off AF type spotting/bleeding before her BFP. Perhaps you should, even if you really don't think you are, just so you can relax and enjoy your hols??

Back later, love to all xx

LankyLegs · 04/06/2010 13:45

Hello all

Some exciting developments - MrsW I agree with Felicity you have to poas before your holiday.

I was quite amused by seablues holiday eating and drinking as I was planning to do the exact same the week after next - even though I will be on the 2WW. MrsW you have got to fins out before you go surely?! Also - how is your tooth now?

Kaloki - keep up faith - you never know what can happen right? Loads of people get BFNs before BFPs - keep us posted - watching with anticipation.

Cavemum your racing weekend sounds exciting - what an exciting job you have! And all the dancing too - what a breath of fresh air! Sorry - I work with a load of boring suits that don't know the meaning of the word fun to be honest. So are you strictly standard - sounds like you are with all your qualifications! Great your degree interview/chat went well too!

SoarAlba Brilliant that you are properly trying now! How exciting hey? Come join in the madness.

Zippys am pleased that things are moving on but really quite annoyed at the NHS though - cant believe you are at a disadvantage just because of where you live? Is there anyway you can try and push more? It just sounds obscene. I hate the fact that we pay loads of taxes for years and years - and not needing things like the NHS on a regular basis and then when we do its stupidly slow and bureaucratic. Agghhh. Sorry for moan - i totally empathise. But like a said - good that things are getting seen to - at least you are more in control now rather than limbo?

Felicity so where are you based if you don't mind me asking? I hope you are looking forward to holidays. I have quite a few friends that are teachers and love the fact that they spend most of their summers jetting to various sunny locations. Hope the last couple of weeks don't drag. I agree with what you said about the other threads - having been lurking for a while this was the only thread where everyone seemed super lovely and open rather than clique. Not sure why mumsnet is like that?! Also your wee pot comments were very amusing - made me laugh! I have tried to hide mine to but sometimes leave them in the bathroom whilst waiting for pee stick results to emerge - there have been several times that DH has been quite bemused at a little actimel pot (yes that's what I use to pee in!) full of wee in the bathroom - eek.

Aries was secretly hoping it would be your month after you saying you were feeling sick the other day? Sorry about AF. No amount of consolation helps - I just find need to get the first 2-3 days of AF out the way before I start to feel positive and look forward to the following cycle. Chin up, drink and don't give a feck (said in my best father hackett accent)

womanly sorry to hear about your friend's mc And hope your SWI-ing went well despite your DH's flu

Hope the BFPs have settled in apple, papertiger and chalky so lovely to hear about all these BFPs Hope the next few weeks fly by for you and that your scan dates are around the corner!

Evil hope you are ok? Are you seeing the GP about AF not turning up yet?

wanna you sounds a lot cherpier which is great!!

Waves to halo Streatham muser takethatlady Florin Cherry and anyone else I have missed!

I have just come out of the other side of SWIathon (to coin womanlys term!) and think we gave it a good shot! We will see though- its been like that the last 8 months but still nothing! Am also temping and getting generally over excited with fertility friend - love it love it love it (although the obsession is hindering my ability to be productive at work at the moment) . I love staring at all the charts in the gallery - sad right? Have my day 21 bloods next Tuesday and have a ultrasound now on July 1st. DH is booked in for sperm sample testing too in a few weeks ( i get the impression he is not impressed with having to provide his sample and get it to the hospital within an hour via the London underground - ha ha poor him). So generally feeling pleased that at least we get a view of what is going on inside our bodies. Also off on holiday next Saturday and I fully intend to eat loads of yummy cured meats like you seablue did and generally not give too much of a feck - have just decided going to keep doing what i used to do and maybe not go as mad on the booze during the 2WW - but by no means am I giving up my beloved wine and gin and tonics yet!

Have great weekends all - anyone ready to test? Good luck if you are!

Lanky

haloflo · 05/06/2010 12:00

Hi all, sorry for a few days of quietness, just been a bit down. It's like I spend 2 weeks on top of the world waiting to ov, then 2 weeks down waiting for AF where everything seems a bit much and I lose persective. I just want it to happen so much, as I know we all do.

This 2ww seems even less fun considering what could have been. I would have been 8 weeks yesterday (lost at 5 weeks). I know I shouldn't count the weeks but I do. I know as it was only an early loss and very normal but I am still sad at times. Anyway [pulls self together emoticon] there is frolicking to catch up on.

kaloki You feeling better today? I hope that your sickness was a sign of Good News. Sorry about BFN though.

Mrswajs You double checked by POAS? I have to say that I don't think you are as I don't think the can temps can lie, sorry. I hope i'm wrong though. When you going on holiday? I hope i've not missed you. Have a brillant time in Cyprus. I hope you get the little egg peak whilst over there (if I read about a couple mishaving on the plane then I'll know it was you)

Lanky A SWIathon eh? Sounds like you have been busy! Where are you off on holiday? I'm with you on behaving as normal during the 2ww. Can I ask why you are having ferility investigations so soon? Sorry if you've explained this before. Good luck with them though. I hope you get a clean bill of health or if something is wrong its really easy to fix and gives you your BFP. I also hope your man gets a clean bill of health, I imagine most men would react badly to being told their sperm is less than awesome.

cavemum Well done for getting on your degree course. I'm really impressed! Sounds like its your area of expertise and interest so i'm sure you'll do really well at it. You and your DH talked any more about still TTC in September?

Cherry Sorry I missed you. I hope AF didn't arrive as you thought? Am jealous of your holiday too. Where are you in the world right now?? Let us know when you are back.

felicity Hello! I think everything is back to normal although I ov'ed about 4 days later this cycle so I expect AF a few days later. I've never actually worked out my luteal phase so if AF arrives one good thing will be that I will be able to work it out. I've not exactly stuck to my promise of not counting days this month. I actually temped this month for about a week and used OPK's. One cycle to go for you, I am very excited!

zippys Good work on the list but its very short now. We need people to come back/join! Am gutted for you that you have to wait so long for the next phase of treatments but I really hope you will get your BFP in the meantime (You get extra good vibes to testing/AF time). Ooh by the way is your ring ready yet? Have you made any wedding plans?

aires How are you feeling today? Sorry about AF threatening to arrive. It here now? I hope you aren't still disheartened. Its horrible TTC but will be worth it.

kkas I hope the sperm stayed alive in you and reached that egg (too much??) or that you did ov on the earlier rise. Damn real life and work getting in the way of TTC.

SoarAlba Good luck with SWI'ing. Probably a good thing its not during the World Cup . My DP loves football so I'm going to have to pull out all the stops to distract him next cycle.

muser I hope the SWI is going well. Day 14 on a weekend? Got to be a Good Sign.

seablue Your post was lovely Thats really exciting about the heartbeat. I wish you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy.

lucky I'm really glad to hear your scan went well (and you resisting paying over the odds for an early one) I miss reading the grads thread but I can't really face it yet. I hope the next 6 months go smoothly for you. xxx

Any testers this weekend?? junglebob wakarimasen you two lurking?

Hey LouBeee

I am having my coil removed in the ten days! how did you find it? I am feeling very nervous and scared about the whole TTC thing too x

Kaloki · 05/06/2010 14:14

Well, I doubt yesterday was morning sickness. I seem to have picked up a bug, was very ill all yesterday (fever and vomitting)

I'm on day 35 of my cycle I believe.

If yesterday was morning sickness then I don't want it. I'm still feeling so rough.

haloflo · 05/06/2010 16:47

Thats rubbish kaloki I hope you feel better soon. Where is everyone else today?

DP has ordered a new tv stand and paid extra for Saturday delivery. It could come at any point during 8 and 6 and at nearly 5pm its still not here. I want it to come so we can both leave our flat!

I did venture out to do some shopping (leaving him on the xbox - yawn) but today has mostly been a dull waiting around kind of day.

I hope everyone else is having fun.

PercyThrowerYouRock · 05/06/2010 16:50

.

Muser · 05/06/2010 17:06

Hey everyone, hope you're enjoying your Saturdays.

haloflo not much sign of oving here, but doing a bit of SWI anyway. And a lot of gardening.

Sorry you're not feeling well kaloki, hope it passes soon.

almostknockedupgirl · 05/06/2010 19:18

Hello! Is it alright if I join you ladies? I'm a complete newbie to everything as my hubs and I recently decided to try for our first child. I suppose we're not officially 'trying' yet, as I'm due to have my mirena out on Thursday, but after that all bets are off!

I'm still trying to get my head round all the acronyms and jargon, and have no idea what my cycle length will be like once the coil is out (it used to be 28 days, once upon a time), and am uncertain where I am in the current one (I'll hazard day 19), but I'm sure I'll learn quickly.

Hope everyone is having a fab weekend! I'm off to get pissed while I still can.

And for the list: almostknockedupgirl TTC#1 cycle 0 UCL 28 CD 19

CaveMum · 05/06/2010 20:49

almostaknockedupgirl welcome ! Everyone is very friendly around here so I'm sure you'll fit in straight away.

Are you planning on TTC straight away or are you going to give your body a chance to re-establish your cycles? Personally speaking I'm glad I came off the pill earlier than originally planned as things have been a little muddled ever since!

haloflo at the moment we are still planning on TTC from September. The whole Afghanistan question is still hanging in the air. There would need to be a relevent job for him to go to so it is not as simple as DH saying to his superiors "I want to go". After giving it some thought I could probably cope with the pregnancy without DH here, but I don't like the idea of giving birth without him. A 6 month deployment would mean aiming to get pregnant no more than 2 months before he goes! Here comes the military planning again!

I'm not sure what is going on with my cycle at the mo. Based on the last cycle, which was 19 days, AF should be due in Monday. However, I'm not 100% convinced that I have ovulated yet - I had a temp dip on cycle day 7 followed by a rise, but a few days later my temp fell back down again. I've had another dip today, so will have to watch and see what happens.

I've been very good with my temps - taking them all at about the same time every morning. (6.30am); I very rarely get up in the night and I've not been ill. Ahh the mysterys of the human body!

Ariesgirl · 05/06/2010 21:30

Evening all. Hope you're all fine. AF still not here proppa-like so am offically still mardy and premenstrual. Just little drips . I knew that image would enhance your Saturday evenings!

almostknockedupgirl · 05/06/2010 23:12

Thanks for the welcome cavemum! I think we won't actively prevent anything - I expect it's unlikely that we'll be lucky enough to get pregnant in my very first cycle, and if we do, well, bonanza! Your timing situation sounds incredibly tricky. Best of luck with it!

pipsicles · 06/06/2010 10:11

Morning Ladies!

So, after not being on here for weeks at a time and being demoted to MIA, giving up temping, drinking copious amounts of caffine and alcohol and generally deciding to 'forget about it', I've POAS this morning to find a BFP!!!!!

I am in absolute shock. I was shaking when I went in to tell DH who, bless him, was bleary eyed and struggling to see the leg hole for his jeans, let alone my pale second line!

The first thing I did was phone my friend, who'd sheepishly e-mailed me to say that she'd got a BFP this week for her #2 - it looks like we'll have similar due dates! With regards to that, I have absolutely no idea when I'm due. I'm on CD62 today (not that that means anything anymore!), but because I gave up temping, I don't know when I ov'd. All I know is that I had spotting last Sunday and Monday, which is a bit helpful I guess, but I'm clearly not the 8 weeks that my cycle would suggest.

So, yeah. I'm pregnant! Not really sure what to do next - busting to tell people, but DH seems a little more reluctant. He even suggested that I wait until next weekend to do another test before I get excited - he has no idea!!!

almostknockedupgirl · 06/06/2010 10:25

Oh wow pipsicles, that's bloody amazing! Congratulations! And goodness yes, I can't imagine putting off being excited! Fingers crossed it sticks!

Was it the spotting that made you do a test, by the way? Or have you just been doing them ever so often, just in case?

Congrats again!

debka · 06/06/2010 10:25

YAY!!!!!!!!!

debka · 06/06/2010 10:27

pipsicles join us on one of the Feb threads- there's one on the pregnancy board and also one on the ante natal clubs board.

kkas · 06/06/2010 10:33

congrats pipsicles so excited for you!

pipsicles · 06/06/2010 11:43

Thanks debka (haha!) I'll come and find you now. DH asked what the chances were of it being wrong, so I've done a second test and the line's still there - stronger than before!!!

almost I tested last Saturday because I'd reached CD ridiculous and we were going away to Bath, so wanted to know if I could drink/eat sushi/runny eggs/ sit in a steam room and thermal waters etc!!! Spotted Sunday and naturally thought it was my period because that would just be sod's law, then nothing after Monday. A few things have further raised suspsions, notably DH feeling rather inadequate at me eating him under the table this week!!! But after last weekend, I'd decided to test every week just to double check, so it was more rountine testing than anything else!

It's not sinking in at all!

CaveMum · 06/06/2010 13:34

Congratulations pipsicles! just goes to show, yet again, that if you relax a bit about getting pregnant it will happen!

Muser · 06/06/2010 13:55

Congratulations pip

Have to take issue with your "relax and it will happen" though Cavemum. It is possibly the least helpful thing anyone can say to someone who is TTC. It sounds like the person who is failing to get pregnant is being blamed for it. I hate that phrase as much as "at least you know you can get pregnant".
