A new thread! This is for anyone who is trying to conceive their first child - anyone welcome!

The current stats list is shown below, UCL means usual cycle length, and CD is cycle day.

In theory the person who starts the thread gets a BFP before the end, but I'll just be happy to get AF turn up again!

Changing the stats list as it seems yesterdays spotting was infact the beginning of AF! Bah humbug. Feeling slightly more positive about it today though. But just figured out last night that I'll prob be ov'ing the day we travel back from hols - so DP has suggested we join the mile high club he he.

Tentatively changing my UCL as well!

Good luck with the interview cavemum sure you'll breeze it!
And thank you to cherry for the wine and chocolate cake - it has cheered me right up!
Zippys thanks for the hugs The tooth problem turned out not to be a tooth problem apparently. With AF coming on I forgot all about telling you all what had happened. Got an xray at dentist which didn't show an absess at all, so really don't know what it was but I got antibiotics anyway and the swelling has gone right down but the inside of my mouth is still sore which is making it difficult to eat (probably a bonus, since I haven't attempted a pre-holiday diet!!) so basically that's it - no absess but a sore face! Weird!!

Anyway must dash, making a lasagne before I go to work this avo, probably need to suck it through a straw but hey ho!

Big waves to everyone else!!

Oh and halo I have started the lucky CBFM today!!

CaveMum · 02/06/2010 11:56

Just heard that my work colleague had her baby this morning - Chloe Louise. She didn't know what she was having but the odds were against her having a boy as the other 4 women in the office who have children only have girls! Must be something in the water!

Trying not to feel too but also a little its not me.

[slap across the face emotcion] Pulling myself together now, I'm very happy for her and her hubby.

womanlytales · 02/06/2010 13:00

Congrats wannamummy - the sticks are very, very accurate so yeah Am very happy for you

haloflo and cavemum - It's really a cold + fitting sneezes but he feels really tired from it ... Hopefully he'll feel better today
I really hope we get to swi because in its absence I am either dreaming up or really experiencing all the symptoms of ovulation -- I feel selfish to feel this gutted...but to face the next 2 weeks or so waiting for AF knowing we didn't really SWI will be torture.

mrswajs sorry about AF showing up. I hope the four bfps offers you some positivity that will help you feel upbeat about continuing on.

Aries My fingers are crossed for you - - hope it's a sign

zippys it will happen, it will happen, it will happen.

cavemum fingers crossed - hope the interview goes well.

papertiger · 02/06/2010 19:00

Congratulations wannamummy, fantastic news! Hope we'll both be following each other over to grads thread soon. This has been a brilliant run for us frolickers with hopefully more to follow.

Sorry to hear about AF mrswajs, hope the monitor does the trick this month.

Still a bit in shock myself and not much nausea either, will prob do another test at weekend just to check its the same.

maamalady · 02/06/2010 19:06

Oh blimey, you step away from the thread and look what happens! Huge congratulations to applecharlotte, papertiger, and wannamummy!

I am also in the secretly club, though. Still no sign of the sodding AF, either.

CaveMum · 02/06/2010 19:34

Evening all! Hope everyone has had a good day.

Interview went well, though it turned out to be more of a getting to know you exercise with an opportunity for me to ask any questions. I should get an offer to enrol in the next few weeks.

I must be mad taking on a part-time degree at the same time as thinking about TTC and taking dance exams! But I like a challenge!

WhiteRoses · 02/06/2010 20:08

Hi all,

Just thought I'd pop my head in and let you know I'm still alive and haven't forgotten you!

Good luck to all those coming to the end of the 2WW. We've been doing well over the past week or so, haven't we? Here's hoping June'll be another month like January! Then if it's anything to do with the letter J, we'll all have graduated come the end of July! xx

cherrycobbler · 02/06/2010 23:16

evening all - glad your interview went well cavemum

I am in a very good mood as packing for four day holiday - hooray! Sadly will be knickerchecking every five minutes as AF is on her way but yet to arrive - may be too paranoid to swim - can you imagine the unbelievable embarrassment if it started whilst swimming - but at least I will not be at work! And yes, despite AF cramps and all other symptoms, I have POAS like the sad loser I am and was not too surprised at the BFN!

mrsW - good luck with the CBFM of Legend

hope you all have fab end of weeks and weekends xx

felicityFlick · 03/06/2010 06:16

Morning All,

Congratulations wannamummy! We're so on a roll with our 4 BFPS- yay! Lets keep them coming

Glad your interview went well cave. You will be one busy lady but that will make the time go quickly whenever your DH is away. What is the course in? Sorry if I've missed it.

Where and when are you off on your hols cherry? evil your AF WILL be here before the end of the thread- If it's not I will... am not sure what I will do but something like 'eat my hat'!

womanlytales hope you managed to SWI and that your dh is feeling better now.

MrsW How weird about your tooth/mouth problem?! At least is is not an abcess as they are so nasty. Good luck with the CBFM!!!! Like flo said, holiday and CBFM = very exciting cycle! Am rooting for you that this is your month
I have packed my CBFM in my case ready for my holiday (am not finishing work for another 2 weeks and 6 days- can you tell I am excited?!)and can't wait to start using it. Although I feel a little daunted about using it in two different time zones (USA and UK) and am thinking am going to have to store pots of my morning wee until possibly lunch time due to the six hour testing window thing I will do it though! Just a bit concerned as we will be staying with my parents, dh's parents and friends when we will be back in UK so am already thinking of how and where I can store my pots of wee so that people don't find them! Can you imagine if someone did stumble upon a pot of my wee?! gross! I think the best option is storing them in a tightly sealed container, in a plastic bag, in my DH's lockable suitcase! I have opted for using DH's as I know that my sister is likely to rifle through my case to try and steal borrow my clothes and she has been known to pick my suitcase locks before!

kaloki sorry you've been having a rough time and also that your doctor was so rubbish I definitely agree with the sods law theory. It will happen for you now when it would actually be more convenient not have a BFP

zippys I echo the others... we all think 'when will it be me?' Glad to hear that you are not feeling so sick at the minute. Long may it last and lets hope the next time you feel so sick will be when you have morning sickness

Kkas Remember that the sperm can stay alive for a while so maybe all is not lost this month?

I'm also worrying about claire??? Hope you're ok if you're lurking claire Maybe she is really busy with working and gigs and rehearsals?

How are you doing flo is your cycle seeming to be back to normal yet?

Am having a VERY boring day at work today so have been having a bit of a scout around on good old MN and I just have to say again what a lovely thread this is!
Of course I knew that anyway but there really are some bitchy, cliquey and negative people and threads out there! Some threads are so 'exclusive' and I feel that our Frolickers thread is such a welcoming and happy place to be. Everyone is so friendly and when someone is going through a bad patch there is always some one else who is cheerful and able to offer support and encouragement. It also seems that on some threads people are deliberately provocative and argumentative just to cause conflict and I think that life is difficult and busy enough without creating arguments with people you've never met. Strange people! Although I guess each to their own so I shall stop my rant now!!

Have a nice day, almost the weekend now. This working week has been SOOOOO long for me so I will be glad when it dies tomorrow night!

CaveMum · 03/06/2010 07:10

Morning everyone.

Whiteroses nice to hear from you. Keeping fingers firmly crossed that our run of luck continues for you!

zippys sorry to hear that AF is on her way, hopefully she'll turn up before you leave so you know where you stand. I'm very jealous of your holiday - where are you going? Sorry if I missed you mentioning it.

Felicity dull days at work are always useful for Mumsnet surfing!
The course I am going to do is a Foundation Degree in the Horseracing Industry, which has the option to top up to a full Honours degree. It is mostly emphasised on Business topics (finance, marketing, etc) but also has things like equine psychology (which I find fascinating), anatomy and equine reproduction. My work have agreed to pay for the course, which is a big help as I couldn't afford to do it myself. I will, however, be treating myself to a shiny laptop on which to do my work!

Hope everyone has a good day today - the sun is shining and the weekend is almost here!

Kkas - loving the idea of the grumpy corner - I have brought chocolate icecream for us to grump with today (although not quite as grumpy today as the sun is shining)

Evilgiraffe you can come join us in the grumpy corner too if you like . But I agree with Flick AF WILL be here by end of thread - either that or a BFP

cavemum glad interview went well, you do know its a sure sign you will get pregnant quickly by signing up! Its not me thats going on holiday - its Cherry I wish I was

Cherry sorry to hear AF is on its way - I know what you mean about hols its such a nightmare - at least that was a benefit of been on the pill - no AF at all for me. I hope you have a lovely holiday and get some relaxtion.

Mrs Waj wow your tooth is a bit weird isnt it!! Hope you managed to eat your lasagne. And good luck with the luck CBDM.

Hi Whiteroses and papertiger(big wave) how are you getting on - I do check on the grads board every now and again. Lets hope you're right with J months.

Womanlytales hmm would seem a little tricky to SWI in that case. I hope he feels a little better and you manage to get some SWI in before OV.

Flick LOL to thought of your sisiter finding your wee!! Cant believe your packed already! I know what you mean about other threads I tent to only post on this one, it feels like a family. (is that way to corny!)

Tanks for the encouragement everyone- I need it all the more at the moment. Found out last night that although I have a infertility referral I will be seen at local hospital but only for intial tests ie blood test results then will have to wait for a referral to the nearby city. BUT that takes around a YEAR and then because we are not under the PCT of the city but of our town then none of the treatment is available on the NHS. BUt if I lives in the city it would be!! How is that fair . Think I will fo for appointment this week and go from there but not too hopeful.

Anyway enough of me from grumps corner. Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine.

x

LankyLegs · 03/06/2010 09:09

Morning lovely peeps! I can't believe all the BFPs just wanted to say congratulations to all!!! Looks like its been a lucky bank holiday - keeping positive vibes up for the rest of us

Sorry for short post but manic at work (aggh) and too busy SWI-ing in the evening to log on! (sounds like I am at it for hours - I wish!) but will post a proper catch up tomorrow (thank god for Fridays). Hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine!

CaveMum · 03/06/2010 09:51

Arrghh! I did it again! Note to self - must not speed read and then try to post!

Zippys sorry for getting you muddled!

cherry have a lovely holiday!

seablue · 03/06/2010 11:37

Hello all -

Just a flying visit to say hi. Thank you so much for adding me to the grads list having spotted me on the other thread.

I dropped out of this thread in March because we had to stop trying because my HSG scan was after I ovulated that month and the procedure can be dangerous if you have conceived (chance would be a fine thing, I know!).

But after that fallow month, we went on holiday towards the end of April and then got a BFP on 1 May.

I sometimes felt a bit sad when people from here popped back from the grads thread - it always felt like a land I'd never get to (we were trying for over a year) but I just wanted to say - it can happen! And also that if you're offered an HSG (which is when they put a tube into your uterus and inject it with dye and check that the dye spills out of your fallopian tubes, so you know they aren't blocked) then go for it. I'm not going to lie to you - it's painful and involves a rectal antibiotic, but there is a proven link between having this test and getting pregnant, because the dye being pushed through the tubes gets rid of minor obstructions that might have been in the way. Obviously it's not at all failsafe, but I know it helped in my case, as the two months after I had the HSG (one fallow and the other with a BFP) were also the ones where I didn't get 8 days of pre-menstrual spotting, so I think it really perked up my ovulation...

And of course, there was being made to take March off and then going on holiday in April. And the fact that the HSG pissed me off so much that I had the worst behaved 2ww EVER (even after we came back from Italy!) - I drank more than I have drunk in a year, I ate bucketloads of cured meat, I mainlined sushi. I had carpaccio for crying out loud. Who knows, I may still regret that, but perhaps it meant that I had genuinely given up, and that did release some stress.

Before you throw something at the computer, this isn't the same as those annoying people who say "just relax" (KILL THEM). I just think it's something that happens naturally when you begin to lose hope, and in fact that's quite a comforting thought, as it means there's an upside to that despair...

Anyway - hope to see many more of you in the Promised Land. I'm only nearly 9 weeks, so not out of the woods yet (though did see a heartbeat last week, which was exciting).

lots of love and luck to you all

Ariesgirl · 03/06/2010 13:46

Seablue that's so lovely to hear. Well done on your BFP. I must admit to being throughly disheartened lately, and feeling like it will never happen for me. But thanks for popping back and sharing that

chalky3 · 03/06/2010 14:29

Congrats to wannamummy and applecharlotte, will see u on the grads thread soon! May has been a lucky month, hope there's more BFPs to come!

womanlytales · 03/06/2010 14:36

Seablue Thank you so much for coming back and sharing. All the best to you and hope you have a smooth sailing pregnancy.

Sounds like most folks are due to go on holiday - cool. We have our planned for July.

Not much to add on my end: I am feeling quite blue today - for a smattering of small reasons, all adding up perhaps. Work has been stressful, ttc is stressful - not sure which is feeding which. Though lately it has helped me when I keep repeating to myself - it's ok, you're ok, it will happen etc..

Ariesgirl · 03/06/2010 18:04

Yonder AF approacheth. Am now very very . But don't put it down as having started yet, anyone who Does Lists. It'll be two days yet. But my heart is in my boots.

luckyseven · 03/06/2010 18:21

I hope you don't mind me popping back to say hello and congratulations to the recent bfps it really is wonderful to get four doses of good news and i hope everything goes smoothly for you all over the next few weeks.

Finally finally had our scan yesterday and at last I can really believe that there is a baby inside me. All seems well with the little one and it even gave us a wave. Even though the baby is measuring big enough for a due date of around 15th December they have kept the due date as Christmas Eve unil the 20 week scan can confirm it is to be moved forward. Like my dad says i always was awkward!

It took us 8 months to get our BFP and I know that is relatively short it seemed like an eternity to us and I even had a mini emotional meltdown in work one day for no reason other than everything ttc was getting on top of me, and then i discovered this lovely thread and it really gave me perspective and i soon realised i wasn't alone in feeling the way I was, so thank you frolickers for getting me this far.

The midwife was surprised that after 11 years on the pill that my cycles went back to normal straight away so I hope this is some comfort to anyone trying to get to know their body again after years of chemical contraception. I had really short cycles and ovd on cd9 on the lucky month - if i hadn't been temping and using the CBFM i wouldn't have concentrated our efforts so early

mrswaj hope you are getting to grips with the monitor you have my e mail if you need any help with it as it can be hard to get used to and trust but i really hope it does the trick for you.

halo you are not a stalker, we are hear to learn from each others experiences and i have the pom poms on standby for a future result for you.

Hey all, just a quick check in - just back from emergency dentist with DH! Root canal treatment he had yesterday has caused an infection and we've been sitting waiting since 8:30pm... long night!

I just wanted to say thank you for all your very kind messages since my freak out on Tuesday! You all are really a lovely bunch and reading your messages over the past few days have been so nice!

I can also sympathise with the , I was also a bit jealous of all the other BFP's that had been posted at the beginning of the week!

Thank you again for your support, you've all been fab!!! xxx

Hello,

I hope you don't mind, but am generally lurking around causing trouble (glances behind at mass destruction and chaos behind her) and being generally hormonal. I seem to go from being super happy to super angry and toddler like in less time it takes to say Jaffa Cake these days. In the past week I've sworn at a work college, had a major incident of road rage and had a major melt down at work.

Just imagine it, you're approaching someone in your office just to ask them to sign something and when you ask them their head turns 180 degrees and you hear words that should only be heard down near the docks after a Saturday night home from leave. The shame . I'm having a funny old few weeks at the moment.

Aries I'm sorry AF has caught you, eat chocolate and be nice to yourself.

Zippys My word that is a long time, is there anything or anyone you can see in the meantime? I'm sorry that it seems to be slow go with you at the moment.

Felicity I've noticed that as well, I do like this thread and the other thread I feel right at home with everyone. I would relish a boring day at work, it never seems to happen for me. I don't mind though, I'd rather it was that way to be honest and if it was boring I would complain. You can't win can you.

Cavemum You dance, what do you do???? I used to do contemporary, ballet and all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff. I loved it to bits and pieces. I love hearing that people dance, my living room is currently my studio.

Evil I didn't realise you were still waiting for Af to turn up. It will come by the end of the thread!! It will!!

Wannamummy Papertiger Has it sunk in yet? Don't worry if it hasn't, I still have my moments when I wonder if I haven't just made the entire thing up and having some sort of episode.

kaloki When will you be testing? [Grin]

I wrote a really long post yesterday on my phone, was not far from hitting post message when my boss camping and I had to stuff my phone in my pocket and pretend to work.

damn!

ThAnks to the grads for popping back to cheer us up.

DP and I about to enter SWI stage. I don't think he knows what he's let himself in for!

Morning all, another lovely sunny day today.

We have a big few days coming up in the Racing world - today is the Oaks (a mile and a half race for 3 year old fillies) and tomorrow is the Derby (a mile and a half race for 3 year old colts and fillies, though it has been years since a filly took part!). Both of these races are 'Classics' which means they are 2 of the 5 most prestigious races a 3 year old can run in.
I'm not giving out any tips this time as I've been in a shocking run of form lately - haven't managed to back a winner for almost a month! Not that I gamble all the time!

Hermya I do indeed dance! I've danced Salsa for about 6 or 7 years and have been taking Latin American lessons for about 18 months. DH and I are going to start Ballroom together in the next few weeks. I'm hoping to get teaching qualifications in Latin American and Salsa so am working towards that. First Ive got to get through my dancing exams - I've taken 2 social dance tests (in Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Samba again and Jive) both of which I passed with Honours [smug emotcion]. I've got my Grade 1 Latin (Rumba and Jive) in 8 days time!
Pinkie is a dancer too, but she's not been around for a while.

It is lovely to hear from the grads, and learn about life 'on the other side'! I do lurk on the Grads thread to see how everyone is doing but don't like to post - it'll probably be unlucky!

Hope everyone has a lovely day - enjoy the sunshine and make the most of any SWI-ing!

P.S. kaloki I second the test queries! Have you decided when you'll POAS?

Kaloki · 04/06/2010 07:35

Tested last night and got BFN. Though I've just spent this morning throwing up for no good reason
