Isn't it just wonderful to start the day with a bfp - thank you oneof8 MrsWajs fingers crossed that this is your month I tried temping and ewcm plus cervical position for a month and it was all too confusing especially figuring out if cervix was open/closed, high/low, straight or tilted LOL
halo I have no symptoms really - just af symptoms - back pain and tummy pain and this is also reducing as the days pass... Friday - a day before AF was due - it was strongest. This continued on Sat and Sun..but yesterday and today it's not as strong -- back pain is almost gone away but tummy cramps still around. Last night I told DH that it's wierd - the tummy ache exists and yet no AF...
I will try to hold out till the weekend though my mil is coming to visit on Sat- she'll be staying with us for a month I feel that if I test then and it's a bfn I will just want to go bury myself in a hole and not want to talk to anybody till I am better...and feel bad about putting her through that...maybe I'll wait the whole week like you say the thing is I got my D24 progesterone test and that was 5.6 -- that's quite low right? So wdn't earlier detection of pregnancy be better? I was supposed to take the test on D21 but forgot and then when I went in on D23 I forgot the blood test slip...comedy of errors!!
Thanks Cavemum - shall take a look at the thread now

CaveMum · 18/05/2010 09:45

For anyone that is interested, these are the stats they give for the accuracy of First Response tests:

10 days post ovulation =35% accurate
11dpo=51% accurate
12dpo=62% accurate
13dpo=68% accurate
14dpo=74% accurate
15dpo=80% accurate
16dpo=88% accurate
17dpo=92% accurate

It is quite scary to think that they can advertise themselves as being so accurate yet they are more likely to be wrong than right up to 11 days after ovulation ? that is near the end of the 2ww!

womanlytales · 18/05/2010 10:49

Thanks for posting cavemum - The trick is to know when Ovulation happened..and since this cycle I am not sure thanks to up & down temps recorded...it's anybody's guess.
Does anyone here take agnus cactus? What is it for and can you take it at any point?

Ariesgirl · 18/05/2010 11:05

CASTUS, CASTUS DAMMIT! Tee hee - we were having a joke the other day about some woman called Agnes Cactus.

I do. It's supposed to regulate your cycle if you have a hormone imbalance i.e too much oestrogen or progesterone. I take it to see if it has any effect on premenstrual spotting which can indicate a progesterone deficiency and could make a potential pregnancy unviable. You have to take it for three months to notice any effect I think, and also you mustn't take it between ov and AF in case you are pregnant.

Good luck.

Kaloki · 18/05/2010 11:20

Congratulations oneof8!!

takethatlady · 18/05/2010 11:32

Woohoo oneof8 congratulations! There are BFPs all over the boards this morning. It's lovely!!!

LankyLegs · 18/05/2010 11:54

Oneof8 just logged on and read your news! Congratulations! Brilliant news . Hope you are enjoying the moment!

Does feel like there are loads of BFPs! Long may it continue!

womanlytales · 18/05/2010 12:19

Thanks Aries - ruled out agnes castus for me for now.

zippys · 18/05/2010 12:31

wow Oneof8, dont know how you managed to post all your messages to everyone else first. Congratulations I am so pleased for you.

Quick update from me, I have been referred today for fertility treatment and going for a blood test today and then on day 21 to start the ball rolling. I know I should be happy that things are moving but actually feel really teary and annoyed with my stupid body!!

I promise I will try to come back and post properly soon just really busy at moment. Hope everyone is ok.

haloflo · 18/05/2010 12:43

cavemum Of course you weren't insensitive. I was thinking the other how strange it is that I love BPF's on this thread but IRL they make me upset/annoyed.

womanly I have no idea about progestrone levels and early detection of pregnancy i'm afraid. If there is something they can do then clearly its best to know but if not then I say wait as long as you can & see if anymore symptoms surface. By the way I'm probably not the best person to ask about early testing just with how I feel at the moment. I'm very much going to shout wait wait wait at you because thats how I feel BUT I do know all too well what its like in the 2ww when the tests are calling your name. Did I read that your MIL is staying for a whole MONTH???! Does she live a long way away? I hope that you get on well with her!

haloflo · 18/05/2010 12:45

X post Zippys. Maybe you just feel that its all a bit real now? I guess before you could push things to one side and hope that a BPF would come before tests had to take place. I hope you are ok.

Florin · 18/05/2010 13:03

Congratulations oneof8 that is fantastic news. Please let us know how u get on.

I started taking agnes castus last week as was worried I was going to have another long cycle. I started taking it and 2 days later af turned up! Don't think it was to do with the tablets however before I was really upset about my irregular cycles and not knowing what was going on. As soon as I bought the pills (which u can get from boots) I felt so much more relaxed like I was taking control and doing something positive which I think may have helped as they do say stress can make af late.
I hav got a horrid cold although it's rather nicely at the same time as af so doesn't affect swi unfortunatly dh now got it so hoping he is over it quickly! Oh I have also started temping and using fertility friend. Quite enjoy seeing the graph build up

cave mum I saw the stats on the back of a pregnancy test (in very small writing) and was so shocked so now try to wait as long as possible otherwise I would need a 2nd mortgage to pay for them!

Hope everyone having a good day!
Fx

kkas · 18/05/2010 14:59

congrats oneof8 so happy for you

zippys good luck with the blood test and other tests coming up. hope you feel better soon.

hi to everyone else. anyone seen claireinthecommunity recently? and what about aly - if you're out there lurking, we haven't forgot about you and hope you're feeling better now.

sorry i haven't been on MN for a few days. we were away for a weekend in brighton with our mini. lots of good quality time with DH although very little SWI. no worries though as still have at least a week til ov. good luck to all those testing in the next few days!

MrsWajs · 18/05/2010 15:20

Aternoon girls, it's been busy in here today!! For obvious reason I see...

Congratulations oneof8 Really happy for you, I bt your pretty shell-shocked given your erratic cyles! Well done!

cavemum thanks fo that info. I think I've heard something similar before and I know of friends who have drank a healthy amount not knowing they were pg and they didn't seem to have any problems. I guess I just feel that it would be irresponsible to intentionally drink knowing I could be pg! But then again I have decided that I probably will anyway but just try not to go too wild! Also now re-thinking the First Response idea after reading the stats on that!

Womanly Hope you might have as much luck as oneof8 this month and maybe be pg afterall?! I think I would suggest testing before MiL arrived (what I would do anyway) but I suppose you could wait a teeny bit longer until after she leaves, assuming she isn't staying for a week or something? Haven't as yet brought myself to check cevical position or rummage about for CM - it kinda grosses me out! Happy enough temping and OPK'ing and spotting what CM does appear in the pant department, although it hasn't to be said it isn't usually very much!! DP found some yesterday but that's a whole other story and definitely TMI!!

Flo didn't end up getting my round 2 last night DP was out and didn't get home til late by which time I was knackered plus, as much as I really want my BFP, I don't like having sex just for the sake of it. I like a bit of woo-ing and romance! Hmm that makes me sound like a right geek!! I just never wanted sex to become mechanical IYSWIM??

Aries I think 'Agnes Cactus' should guest star in our next thread title!!

Zippys Hugs for you, hope you're feeling less emotional soon. But it is completely understandable - stupid bloody bodies and stupid bloody hormones! Who would have them!?

Florin Boo to the cold or should I say the man flu that inevitably your other half will have!! Just joined fertility friend myself yesterday (Flick are you listening!) and at the moment the jury is out on the verdict! Not sure if I like it any better than the charting site I use already!

Well following yesterdays excitement, I'm feeling a bit deflated today OPK was negative this am and temp had only gone up about 0.1c (compared to about 0.5c last month)so not sure if I did ovulate yesterday or not but OPK kinda says I did!? Also think that maybe yesterdays +ve OPK was just the tail end of it and we left SWI til too late in the day to be effective (7pm). That plus no SWI on Sunday just doesn't give me much hope for this month!! I know it's a bit irrational and it ain't over til it's over but just can't help but feel we'll have missed the boat again. Hmmmph!

maamalady · 18/05/2010 18:00

Congratulations, oneof8!

haloflo MIL does live abroad and is visiting - am happy to have her
btw am to say that I tested again today and got another BFN on CD31. Then had tons of chocolate..felt broken - to have DH call to say hello and end up having me get all weepy -- Safe to say I have gotten the 'got to test' out of the way and now have no option but to wait for AF.
MrsWajs I love your positivity - good luck to you.
I am going to take a break from mumsnet and perhaps ttc too. I will miss you all - thank you for all the tips and good wishes

OneOf8 · 18/05/2010 19:55

Thanks everyone - Shock still, but happy. Despite TTC was not expected, as long wait between cycle and BFN just last week.

womanlytales I was 45 days yesterday, and 38 days with the BFN - not to sure whats what with that if this is of any help?!

Cavey he was soo happy. First was "dont fuck with me" then "yesssssss". Agreed not telling anyone till 12+ weeks just to be sure

Halo Midwife next month, so my plan is to be good until then... GP seemed satisfied with AF as dating "tool" so just going to wait till MW appt. Feel really strange in that I dont feel different in any way (still no symptoms) but just going to sit tight till appt.

Flick I knew it about teachers!!! GP said approx 6 weeks, but not 100% convinced but this is soley based on BFN last week.

Zippy Hope it goes well with the testing. Understandable how you feel x

Thank you Lanky, Kaloki, kkas, MrsWajs, TTLady, *Florin, EG & anyone I missed!

If noone objects I am going to hang around here for a bit - despite being over-joyed am a little scared to believe it.

haloflo · 18/05/2010 20:08

womanly If you are still lurking I am so sorry to hear about your BFN. We are here when you need us but I understand if you want to take a break.

kkas Glad you and DH had a nice time away together. When you say mini do you mean a car? I seem to remember claire saying she was ok just very busy so wouldn't be posting for a while. I hope thats right.

florin I'm glad you are feeling more in control. Temping will hopefully do that for you too. Let us know how you get on.

mrswajs I think OPK's just mean you are going to ovulate within 48 hours of the postive so I don't think you have missed the boat. Fingers crossed your temp goes up tomorrow or you are a slow riser this time? Maybe try part 2 tonight

oneof8 course you can stay! Its a scary time although i'm sure you will be absolutely fine. Have you found the antenatal threads? Its worth a lurk in the grads thread and the Jan due date thread as loads of women there have no symptons either. It might help you feel better.

Ariesgirl · 18/05/2010 20:48

Sorry to hear you'll be away a while, womanly. It can get a bit much can't it? Hopefully you'll feel more positive soon and we'll see you back.

mumnerves · 18/05/2010 20:50

Just pop-ed in to say hi and noticed oneof8 's good news! Congratulations, and do pop into our graduates thread when you feel ready just here .Cramps and the excessive CM is normal

haloflo so pleased that you are sounding so positive, I've been thinking about you and can't even imagine what you're going through ((hugs))

Good luck to anyone testing this week!

mumnerves · 18/05/2010 20:52
