A new thread! This is for anyone who is trying to conceive their first child - anyone welcome!

The current stats list is shown below, UCL means usual cycle length, and CD is cycle day.

In theory the person who starts the thread gets a BFP before the end, but I'll just be happy to get AF turn up again!

Day 27 and have all the symptoms of AF coming as per the clock tomorrow - - SOB!!!
Aries I am 34 and hear you on the age anxieties.
MrsWajs What's this about taking FA with food? I typically pop it in first thing in the morning... is that now incorrect? LOL

My GP has asked me to take a two month break from TTC given how frazzled I've become. I have stopped temping [that was a BIG disaster / non-indicator], do not use OPKs [Another big non-indicator for me] and so far am praying for at least SOME symptom to spot -- LOL. Also the preg test in the cupboard is getting fed up of not ever being used thanks to regular clock work AF [though I am grateful that finally I am on regular cycles].

Two month TTC break - here I come. just hope that it doesn't end up being a life long thing...

Sorry about the negative attitude -- Wishing everybody who's testing this weekend best of luck and lots of baby dust.

Ariesgirl · 14/05/2010 11:16

I think the thing with Vits is if you take them on an empty stomach you can wee them straight out before they're absorbed.

Don't fret about it though.

Ariesgirl · 14/05/2010 11:25

Oh and Cavemum I did see that article on the careless over-40s!

My issue I think is just paranoia. Nearly all my friends have had babies now, and all of them seemed to have done so trouble-free (however what do I know?) It's the statistics more than anything - I just know that I'm probably the one in ten.

That's horribly self indulgent and childish. Apologies.

haloflo · 14/05/2010 11:39

Morning girls. I'm sorry to report things haven't worked out for my BFP so I'm back here. Feeling like crap at the moment, been very upset this morning but I know I will be ok.

Not gone to work as couldn't face it so going to take some nurofen & have a hot pain for my cramps. Wine is going in the fridge for DP and I to share tonight.

I've popped myself to waiting to TTC as there is some good company there. Not sure what I'll do this cycle but will definatly try again the time after.

I have a week off booked at the end June and am already planning a holiday. I need something to look forward to and the idea of sun sea and sand is just what I need.

I'll catch up with the thread soon but zippys I really hope this is your month.

haloflo · 14/05/2010 11:43

I've just read what I wrote and I certainly won't be having any hot pain. I meant a hot bath.

zippys · 14/05/2010 11:57

oh Halo I am so so sorry for you (huge huge hugs). Hope the holiday search helps a little (and the copious amounts of wine). You know where we are when you need us.

p.s thanks for the good luck it really means a lot.

Ariesgirl · 14/05/2010 12:00

Halo, I'm so sorry to hear that. Very sad for you. Hope you're ok.

womanlytales · 14/05/2010 12:35

Halo I am terribly sorry to hear that. Do take care.

CaveMum · 14/05/2010 13:27

haloflo really sorry to hear that. Big (((hugs))) for both you and your DH.

womanlytales · 14/05/2010 13:45

So I begin the morning wallowing about impending AF and how the ONLY symptoms I get are related to AF...the self pity clone is now as big and powerful as the room I am sitting in.....
I then say - enuf is enuf - I am going to POAS. I have one stick left from end of last year!!!! and am tired of not using it thanks to prompt AF. So I trudge upstairs to the bathroom and lo & behold I can't find the damn thing!!!
So it's back to welcomig AF though I so so so so so so want to be preg...and poas.... Waahhhhhhh
Now if I only I knew what I did with that single stick!!
I wish I could just stop with this obsessing and get back to normal, practical, has a life outside of TTC kinda gal.
[gets another swift jab from self pity clone monster]

kkas · 14/05/2010 13:57

haloflo really sorry to hear that. take care hun.

womanly it really does take over your life, doesn't it? hope you feel better too soon.

felicityFlick · 14/05/2010 14:28

Oh flo. I'm SO sad for you- I just picked up my phone to text you when I read your news but then realised that I didn't actually 'know' you and certainly didn't have your number! Please look after yourself this weekend. Holiday sounds like something lovely to look forward to.

Will catch up with everyone tomorrow- have a weekend of nothing but marking to look forward to so will have plenty of time to catch up with you all.

zippys- I missed your post the other day, as I've just been skimming through the past few days. Sorry to hear your still being so sick Fingers crossed that this is your month though

Back tomorrow- have a nice Friday all

xxxx

LankyLegs · 14/05/2010 14:41

Sorry - haven't posted much but work has been manic, but its Friday today and productivity is very low!

Just wanted to say sorry halo - hope you are bearing up ok. Make sure you get lots of hugs from OH and get taken care of. Pleased you are not it work either - that would not have been a great idea.

womanly I know exactly what you mean. I am secretly going mental inside and its actually worrying me now! Before this TTC malarky I was normal girl about town taking in the simple joys of every day life and enjoying the trials and tribulations. Now - I can't go a waking minute without constantly analysing every twinge or pain. I am constantly looking at my diary hurrying the days along to see when I could potentially pee on a stupid plastic stick. Uggh.

Aries - I am the only person out of my group of friends TTC and they are all older than me - 2 of them are still single and approaching late 30's and I know they would like to have kids too - but its so normal now to have them later on. Another friend of mine just had her 2nd child at the age of 44 and had her 1st at 41. But again - doesn't matter what anyone says - when you are TTC it all seems a bit shite and slow.

pinki hope you are feeling better - don't feel bad about feeling the way you do - its totally normal. I got angry when I read in the metro (quality free newspaper not) the other day and it said that Gwen Stefani is pregnant with her 3rd and that made me cross!

I am now on day 22 - not sure when or if I ovulated but think it was last Friday so am assuming I am 7dpo and on sympton watch. I am past caring though and fully intend to have a few glasses of vino over the weekend and enjoy some of the pretend summer. Life is way to short (or the summer is anyway). Plus have a whole week of hell next week trying make up phantom symptons that probably don't exist - can't wait.

Anyway - I have gone and purchased a bloody thermometer so will try the whole temping thing next month - but really didn't want to have to do that - just another thing to analyse and annoy DH with.

Does anyone else have cramps a few days after ovulation on and off until their AF? Not sure if it is a bad thing as I have had a few times now and am thinking about going to GP's about it as not sure it is normal.

Hope everyone is well and at least looking forward to the weekend.

haloflo · 14/05/2010 15:10

I am very glad its nearly the weekend.

womanly I know that feeling really well. I can actually cope with AF and now I know its over for me I know I will be able to deal with it too. Its the waiting game I hate. Are you at work? Try to keep busy.

zippys resist the tests! Its hard to think of anything else but the later you find out you are pregnant the better I reckon. I've not really been following your news lately but glad to hear you are out of hospital. What are the next steps for you? Are you waiting on test results?

Oneof8 You sure you have ov'ed yet? It could be fertile CM and ovulation cramps? . You could have had fertile CM earlier in your cycle but then your body decided against ov'ing. If you ov'ed a few weeks ago you should have AF by now... or be you know what and guessing by your BFN that may not be the case. I had increased CM when I was pregnant but only after my AF was late. However you can get creamy CM at the end of the cycle due to a small rise in oestrogen so its not really a sign. Sorry that was clearly no help. I think the best thing to do is SWI this weekend.

mrswajs I'm so glad the CBFM arrived. I was terrified Royal Mail would lose lucky's expensive toy. Before you suggest sending it back to me I don't want it. I have regular cycle's, enjoy temping and in all honestly would have SWI'ed the same days last month whether or not the machine told me too. Thats not a critism as its a really good indicator, I just don't feel I need it. I really hope it works for you this cycle or in sunny cyprus. I'm booking a holiday for late June. Really looking forward to some holiday SWI (its what's getting me through today)

bellaby I wondered where you were! Do not worry about all your drinking. I had a real guilt trip that I was drunk during my 2ww the cycle before last and was reassured by all that it wouldn't have affected my chances or the LO had conception actually happened. Clearly if its taking you to the spare room though slowing down might be an idea.

cavemum I'm glad your first cycle was nice & regular. That rise sounds pretty convincing to me. You on fertility friend? I will be temping this cycleas its very reassuring to know when to expect AF even if not TTC too as the dr suggested it might be longer and slightly different to usual.

pinkie I hope you are feeling better today. There are 3 at work who are pregnant and I sit next to a soon to be first time father. You just can't get any from them can you.

Sorry about AF takethatlady I was going to offer you some wine but I think I need it all!

lanky fingers crossed for you too. Enjoy a drink this weekend. Let me know if you want to talk temping. Does yours beep? My DP went mad the first few times I woke him up with the beeping at 7 am. I cramp gently on & off for about a week before AF. If its bad cramping maybe see your GP but I always assumed I was normal. Not sure if this helps but during the cycle I conceived the cramps were less than normal & that was one of my symptoms.

felicity! I assumed you would be in bed! I will be taken care of this weekend don't worry. xxx

Thanks for all for the hugs. This thread needs some joy again. Bring on a hot summer of BFPs.

PinkiePoo · 14/05/2010 16:41

halo sorry honey...my problems seem pathetic now!

Well after a night on the sofa, the OH kindly woke me up this morning, with a big hug and then SWI!! Ha ha but without the intent, as nowhere near OV yet.

Yeah, we have been under so much stress...and just snapping at each other. But we are off to paris next week for a couple of days, oh and to see Michael buble (now he is someone i wouldn't SWI with)....so hopefully we can rekindle our love...pass the bucket i may just vomit!!

cave your first cycle looks promsing...better than mine did!!

OneOf8 · 14/05/2010 17:08

So sorry to hear that Halo, but thank you for responding - I did test Monday and couldn't see a line - but was not expecting anything, so dipped and viewed within about a minute as was in a bad mood

My biggest issue is as this is the 1st time of being off the pill and TTC, not just having a "break" from the pill - I have never before given so much attention to what is going on! Will be retesting Monday if still no sign of AF but took from January - April to have a proper AF (did have spotting/light one in Feb - but not sure whether that counted). I was more hopeful it would be a sign of AF's visit when overdue as have no symptoms to obsess over notice.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, and here to next week being better!

CaveMum · 14/05/2010 17:43

Oneof8 I'm the same as you. This is my first time off the pill - started when I was 15 and gave been on it non-stop ever since. I'm hoping my cycles will settle down into a regular pattern quite quickly (aren't we all!) but I've allowed a few months before we really start ttc. If all goes to plan we'll start ttc in September.

haloflo I am using Fertility Friend but only to chart my temp - can't be arsed to faff about with a graph on a piece of paper!

wannamummy · 14/05/2010 20:50

haloflo I am really sorry to hear your news. I echo everyone else and pass on big hugs xxxx

Got myself some Agnus Castus, so we'll see what happens this cycle.

Instead of telling myself we're TTC, I'm now looking on it that I'm waiting to see how long my cycle is instead. After being on the pill for over 10yrs and now having random length cycle, anything's work a shot to save me from going slowly insane...

I really can't do temps as I will drive myself mad analysing everything!

Off for a spa weekend with friend who's due in July and has a perfect bump and not put on an ounce of weight.... Bitter sweet as always!

Have a good weekend everyone and I'll speak to you all next week when I'm revived, refreshed, and have not chucked a wobbly for being jealous!!!

xxx

MrsWajs · 14/05/2010 22:22

Ohhhh Halo, I'm so sorry to hear that And you were right the first thing that popped into my head was sending back the CBFM! If you're totally sure you don't want it though, then I will try with it next month. Big hugs to you my lovely and enjoy your wine.xx

Been having crampy type pains today - not sure why, as think it's maybe a tad too early for ov pain and temps don't indicate this, alhough they have been different this cycle - sort of doing a slow rise as opposed to a steady 36.1 then sharp rise like last month. Anyone got any ideas? Gonna start daily SWI from tonight anyway just incase, and might attempt an OPK in the morning! Taking no chances this month!

womanly someone else had mentioned that FA should be taken with food (which I didn't know!) but I've just been taking mine any old time of day, whether I've eaten or not!! Clearly not the voice of a serious TTC'er!!

Anyway rubbish post yet again! But knackered from work so heading to bed, catch up again tomorrow.x

cherrycobbler · 14/05/2010 23:01

oh flo I am so sorry to hear your news. You sound like you are being amazingly strong and positive. SWI on hols sounds like a very fab thing to look forward to. Sending lots of hugs your way.

hello to everyone else - not much news from me, except my friend has just had her baby (pregnant first time, blah blah) and baby is just perfect. I am completely and secretly glad she lives very far away so can do the dutiful cooing and asking questions through text/ phone/ email

Have a big work dinner next month, and if I am not drinking it will be very much noticed. So, I guess a good thing to console myself with when its BFN this month too!

I am totally lax with my folic acid too due to the whole with-food thing but going to make an effort from... tomorrow.

Happy weekends all xxx

bunnygirl80 · 15/05/2010 00:31

halo I'm so sorry for your loss

I'm sure that there's not much that any of us can say that will make you feel better at the moment. Hope you and your DP are looking after each other.

(I've posted this on both threads in case you don't feel like checking back on the grads)

zippys · 15/05/2010 07:52

Morning lovely frolicker. On my phone so just a quick post. Af has arrived this morning, I think I knew this month was not the month but you still hope don't you!! At least no money wasted poas. Anyway feeling quite positive, off to town to buy a thermometor. Roll on cycle 12, maybe this one will be my lucky one.

Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine Xx

CaveMum · 15/05/2010 09:33

Morning all, teensy bit of a headache today due to a drop too much of vino last night.
My darling husband gave me yet another reason to think of him as the perfect husband when he presented me with my birthday present - a beautiful sapphire and diamond necklace - squuueeee!

All girls love something sparkly!

Hope everyone has a good weekend, and haloflo I hope you feel better soon.

luckyseven · 15/05/2010 13:42

halo i've just found out and am so so sorry to learn what has happened, I am thinking about you and I wish there was something I could do to make it all better but you know you have great friends here if you need anything. You always have such a sunny disposition, look after yourself over the next few weeks, take it easy and i hope your plans come together soon. Big hug x

Bellaby · 15/05/2010 13:45

Hello All

Just wanted to pop on and give a big hug to you halo. Thanks for your kind words re. the drinking. Next week things should quieten down a little I hope. And we are getting a new large bed delivered on Monday so DH & I will be reunited because there will be room for both of us (my DH has a thing about small beds!).

Cavemum -what a lucky thing you are - sounds like an amazing present!

pinkie I'm glad that you & your OH have made up. trip to Paris sounds very exciting.

Zippys -sorry to hear about AF. I really hope that number 12 is lucky for you x

Felicity - marking sounds tedious. I think I'd be a really lazy teacher! Hope you manage to do something fun this weekend other than marking.

Nothing to report from me although my nipples have gone hard & really sensitive and I have no idea why (sorry if that's TMI!)

Off to a 3rd Birthday Party and then a 30th one. Hope there is lots of cake and mini sausage rolls to eat!

Lots of love to everyone - you are all great.

Bellaby xxx
