A new thread! This is for anyone who is trying to conceive their first child - anyone welcome!

The current stats list is shown below, UCL means usual cycle length, and CD is cycle day.

In theory the person who starts the thread gets a BFP before the end, but I'll just be happy to get AF turn up again!

Hi ladies, busy day today and have just found out i've got to go to York races tomorrow - 3 hour drive there & back. Oh joy!

Nothing to report here, just keep on ticking over!

MrsWajs · 12/05/2010 22:33

Hmmmm wonder if I'm being a bit slack with the whole TTC thing - I am only taking Folic acid (somewhat erratically!)???

On another note the magical CBFM arrived today major chuffed-ness, thanks halo!! Although slightly daunted by the destructions! looks like it'll be coming to Cyprus with me too if I don't conceive this month - hope this is ok lucky?? It will be a very well travelled bit of kit!! However if you want me to leave it at home and start on it the following month then just let me know, I know tis a pricey toy!

Sorry once again left it too late to do a proper catch up so hello to everyone and will be back tomorrow, hopefully to do a slightly better post!

Bellaby · 12/05/2010 22:44

Evening Ladies

hope you've all had a good day.

I think I too might have a little trip to Boots tomorrow to get some cactus action! Beats sitting around doing nothing although I have to admit I very naiively thought that it wasn't possible to ovulate until after my next AF until the doctor informed me otherwise. Feeling like a bit of an idiot as have been out drinking an awful lot the last few weeks thinking it was harmless. Mostly work related. The main savig grace to this has been that I've been banished to the spare room most nights so bedroom activity has been somewhat limited. Still very silly and I need to be sensible now.

cavemum have a good trip to York tomorrow

mrswajs - good luck with the CBFM - it's very simple once you get going. I've had to put mine on hold though until my cycles become more regular otherwise I'll just confuse it too much!

Felicity - have you started the new job yet or is that for the next school year?

Very impressed with the culinary talents of this room. I never have time to cook so dinner is usually a couple of slices of toast

lots of love

Bella xxx

takethatlady · 13/05/2010 08:13

Mrswajs I'm on another thread for people who are trying not to go too mental about ttc - I too only take folic acid (also erratically - you're meant to take it with your main meal, aren't you? But I can't take it out to a work dinner and start popping it round the table! And then I forget). This is only my first cycle ttc but I have POAS too many times ... the other thread (starts with lots of acronyms) is helping keep me sane. You might want to join us just JSing!

Morning Ladies, our BFP's for may is lacking a little, who is planning on testing soon? For the last few cycles I have been really good and waiting till I was about a week late but this month for some strange reason I want to test already! But I have no tests in the house and am trying not to go out and buy any!

Oneof8 sorry about your BFN, but as has been said many a time you never know until AF arrives.

EG glad to hear all your tests came back normal, but I can understand how frustrating that must be too. Lets hope AF shows up before you get anywhere near 6 months.

Cavemum hope the traffic is not too bad for you today.

Florin I have also heard good things about angus cactus a friend of mine swore blind that that is what helped her. So I suppose its work a shot. I only take folic acid and even then with the whole sickness thing i struggle to keep that down!!

Hermya - hello, it is sickness not dizeness but no there havnt found a cause just doing loads of tests, but it has been mentioned that it is likely to be normal esp as I have been trying for over a year with no success.

Mrswaj hope you enjoy your new toy!! I have consdiered one but on the basis that I have really long cycles I wasnt sure it would work - does anyone know?

Flick glad to hear you are feeling a little better.

Aries I too am impressed with the cocktail, as I said above if I could keep more down I would take more supplements.

Bella nice to see you back. I wouldnt worry too much about drinking, I have to admit I dont cut alcohol out totally after ov as I think it would make me even more stressed. I dont drink loads just that glass of wine after work is such a stress reliever on a Friday

Well better get back to work (and am not considering getting a test at lunchtime - honest )

PinkiePoo · 13/05/2010 08:56

Morning ladies....given MN a break last few days. been pretty busy with work and feeling rotten still. Turns out after sickness bug, cold, i now have a sinus infection. The snot is never ending

So how are we??

who is testing soon? aries and KK You ready for SWI?? I am certainly not....who would want to shag a big ball of snot!!

Have i missed some amazing conception miracle?? Whats this cactus nonsense all about??

All i take is Folic....and lets face it...seeing my 3 months worth diminish before my eyes is pretty disheartning!!

Ariesgirl · 13/05/2010 09:41

SWI? Snort! Pah! Harumph! (and other ironic, bitter noises)

Ariesgirl · 13/05/2010 09:43

Oh, and Pinkie, for the love of God, don't go trying to swallow a cactus. It's Agnus Castus. I too was wondering who this Agnes Cactus person was for a while, until I went to H&B and asked the nice lady all about it. She assured me it would pretty much get me pregnant. Lying bitch.

PinkiePoo · 13/05/2010 10:02

aries whats with the sound effects?? SWI out the window?? bloody hope not young lady!!

Damn....should of read your post sooner. Just bloody ate a whole cactus. Ok....i'm just kidding, i am not that desperate and mental. yet.

Ahhh so it does not work, how long you been taking it for? I reckon you can sue h&b. Or just give the smug sales lady a good slapping

Ariesgirl · 13/05/2010 10:17

Apparently it takes three months to work. It's not a conception aid by the way. It's supposed to balance your hormones if you had an imbalance. I suspected I had a progesterone deficiency because of the spotting, which would mean I might have trouble hanging onto and implanting a fertilized egg. Some people say consult doctors and stuff before taking it because it is herbal rather than "just" a supplement like zinc or Vit C. Some would say that rather than "a progesterone deficiency" I am suffering from "clutching at straws syndrome".

Is there anyone on here older than me, by the way? I'm starting to feel less of a frolicker and more of a bitter old arthritic shuffler. The over-35's according to the Books, needn't even bother. Hence the spat curses of the above post.

PinkiePoo · 13/05/2010 10:38

hmmm...perhaps i will try this next month, when i will welcome back crazy 'also clutching at straws' lady.

aries i am not sure how old you are....but no matter what age, frolicking is acceptable. Even those nursing home residents are at it i'm sure....i would be!!

Ariesgirl · 13/05/2010 10:57

I'm 35

zippys · 13/05/2010 14:07

You are not over the hill yet Aries, loads of people fall pregnant over 35, dont write yourself off yet. (If I had more time I would go and find lots of facts to back up my point but I dont have time so you will just have to accept it!! )

Seriously though I know what you feel like, although age is not against me (28) my stupid body is and I can get very negative about it all, but I am sure it WILL happen for all of us, just of us take a little longer to get our BFP.

Oh and I hope you all be proud of me..... manage not to buy a test at lunchtime

MrsWajs · 13/05/2010 15:21

well done on test buying abstinence! CBFM is luckys so I am very grateful to her for lending it to me, worked for halo so keeping fingers crossed it works it's magic on me! How you feeling today?

Aries if it helps, a woman I work with just had a baby last year at 45! So age is just a number.

takethatlady is it the EWCM thread?? I've looked in before but think given my POAS issues and now CBFM to use next cycle, I don't think I qualify as "just shagging" but I will come and have a snoop around again
Oooh and also I didn't know I was meant to be taking my FA with food either!!!! Where exactly have a I been the last 9 month!? Oh actually maybe should take it just now...?

Pinkie Think slapping H&B sales people could catch on if no-one gets their BFP soon! Kidding.......

Bellaby Thanks for the encouragement, I thought OPK's were confusing to start with but I suppose like everything you get used to it if doing it a lot. How are your cycles now, still waiting for AF??

MrsWajs · 13/05/2010 15:26

Sorry bellaby didn't read your post properly, but if it makes you feel any better I would have thought I hadn't ovulated if no AF as well (and would have continued drinking!!)

takethatlady · 13/05/2010 19:14

Pinkie I say hang your head off the end of the bed - the snot will run back into your head and your man will be able to impregnate you snot-free

Mrswajs yes it's the ECWM thread. No-one on there really just shags (but shhhhh....)

I'm just on because AF arrived. Woohoo! So I'm now Cycle 2 UCL 32 CD1. Embarrassingly it arrived while I was on my way to a work lunch, bumped into my boss in King's Cross ladies loos while I was having a fight with the tampax machine.... she had to get an attendant to show me how to behave like a normal person. Still, cycle 2 for me, yippee!

And I'm only 27 but all that post-35 you'll never conceive crap is blatantly a load of old BS designed to make women feel guilty for having careers. Obviously age has implications, but I hardly think the day you turn 35 your body switches off. People who are rude about that can bugger off, quite frankly. (Sorry, feeling all post-PMT bolshy today )

CaveMum · 13/05/2010 20:49

Evening ladies, back from York now. A wonderful day - I ate far too much lovely food (homemade scones with clotted cream, victoria sponge, Yorkshire puddings with beef stroganof!) and it stayed dry. But a 3 hour drive there and just under 3 hour drive back made it a long day!

Aries if it makes you feel any better, both of my work colleagues conceived their children in their late 30s. I read an article fairly recently that states there has been a big leap in the number of women in their 40s getting pregnant as they are assuming they won't be able to get pregnant so stop using contraception!

I'll see if I can find the article online.

CaveMum · 13/05/2010 20:52

That was quick! Here is the article

PinkiePoo · 13/05/2010 22:37

ok...OH is in bed and i am downstairs, after a huge fight.

While i was teaching today, a friend told me that she was pregnant by accident, and wasn't sure what to do. I previously when i was a mere 21 fell preggo with my ex and had an abortion. One of the toughest things....so tried to give her best advice.

But came home and just burst into tears, told OH and he was understanding. Except, a face full of snot and everyone around me falling preggo, makes me a not very happy person.

His answer was' you can't be in a bad mood everytime someone falls pregnant' i said i can feel whatever i wish to, and if it upsets me just let me have time to be bitter about it at home behind closed doors.

I really feel for my friend and whatever she decides to do, then i will be there for her. Just really feeling proper poo.

Sorry....this is a proper blah blah blah post, but have to vent my frustration!!

Florin · 13/05/2010 22:54

Ohhh pinkiepoo know how u feel I did the same when i found out someone I went to school with had got pregnant with her 2nd it hit me so hard. Sometimes u just need to get the feelings out. Don't think men have the same emotions about ttc as we do so they just don't understand my dh thought I was going mad to be so upset.
Ttc is so frustrating and I am so fed up of my body not doing what it's told!

PinkiePoo · 13/05/2010 23:07

yep....i have now progressed to sleeping on the sofa.

Florin · 13/05/2010 23:58

Pinkiepoo hope u get some sleep on the sofa and u make up tomorrow.

good news for me 2 days of taking Agnes castus and af has made an appearance. To be honest I think buying the tablets made me feel more positive and in control and more relaxed which is probably what triggered it. Whoever does stats next please could u up date me so on Friday I will be on cycle 3 cd 2. Thank you!

CaveMum · 14/05/2010 07:24

Pinkie really sorry to hear you and DH had a fight. As Florin said, I really think men don't quite get how we feel about pregnancy. They don't have that urge (which is the only way I can describe it). Heck, I didn't understand the urge until it hit me like a freight train about 6 months ago!

On my front I THINK I may have ovulated! I've been taking my temp religiously and it has been hovering around 97.4/97.5. Yesterday it dropped to 97.2 and this morning it had lept to 97.8! Am I right to think I might have ovulated? I know my temp needs to stay high to confirm this but I actually feel a bit excited - my body appears to know what it is supposed to do! I'm on day 14 today, so I may be on course for an 'average' cycle length. Of course I know that just because 1 cycle looks to be 'normal' it is no garauntee that the rest of them will be, but at the moment I am rather proud (daft I know) that my body seems to work!

Morning everyone,

Mrswaj still feeling pretty crappy but hey ho, the sickness now can come back on an evening but tryng not to let it get me down. Thank you for asking.

Pinkie I hope you are feeling a little better this morning. I agree with Florin, men dont know how much it hurts. Your head will be all over the place at the moment, feeling for your friend yet also experiencing so much yourself. You know where we are if you need a shoulder to cry on.

Florin way to go with the Angnes. I have updated the stats for you

Cavemum congrats on the ov. There is nothing wrong with being proud that your body is doing as it should (just dont go shouting about it at work )

Takethatlady your tampon story made me lol. Can just see you wrestling with the machine

That reminds me, is it just me or do you all have images of what all the rest of us look like? I think sometimes you cant help it but I bet all of mine are wrong!

Well on TTC news, still no AF BUT 33 days is just my average can be upto 39 days quite easily. Also I worked out that my horrific hospital procedure was around the time I was due to OV so it may have delayed it. Anyway I am trying not to symptom spot (well only in my head ) and will try to resist buying a test again today.

Hope you all have a nice Friday - just think only a few hours till the weekend

OneOf8 · 14/05/2010 09:14

Morning - Pinkie, yes you are entitled to feel what you feel - regardless of how others think. You are being strong to offer advice following your own experiences, and not letting your own current feelings alter this. You are then dealing with the mixed emotions in the privacy of your home with your partner. If he is unable to see this is hard on you then unfortunately he is just a man, this is not his fault, just the way he was made - but he should respect sometimes it does take a minute to deal with these feelings. Basically, I don't think anyone was in the wrong, but feel DH could have understood you were feeling down, even if he didn't appreciate fully why (if you get what I mean). Mine is just an arse, and a 29 year old child. As much as I could beat him with the branding iron at times, I know deep down (sometimes so deep down I miss it!) he doesn't mean to be a complete dick, love him just the same when I remember this!

Cave glad you had a good day, tad jealous as having a shitter at work ? but never mind, ?tis Friday!

Just a quick question re longer cycles ? did anyone else on the long cycle get the ?normal? af cramps with (sorry, TMI at this time of day) clear CM, like a ?sneeze? in consistency, with a bit of white? Is very small in quantity, only present when I wipe (so sorry I am a prude really, and hate to share?!) not quite like the fertile CM, but not far off? never had this before. Anyone know what this is? I Thought I may have ov a few weeks back based on CM, but wasn?t certain as long cycles, not constant in taking temp etc.??? Skin is more suggestive of AF (spots )? but I didn?t have this last month.

Any clues will be gratefully received!
