A new thread! This is for anyone who is trying to conceive their first child - anyone welcome!

The current stats list is shown below, UCL means usual cycle length, and CD is cycle day.

In theory the person who starts the thread gets a BFP before the end, but I'll just be happy to get AF turn up again!

Hello Ladies

sorry for complete radio silence from me last few weeks. It's been really hectic. Hopefully will get on to write a proper message soon but just wanted to give everyone a big wave.

I see I am still creeping up the list!

Many congrats to halo - fantastic news.

Is it possible that I could be OVing?

Hope everyone is well

lots of love

Bellaby xxx

felicityFlick · 11/05/2010 02:22

I'm still here too but nothing to report either- really fed up with waiting now.

Congrats on your AF pinkie yay!

Good luck at the docs today Evil- hope you get some answers or at least some more things ruled out.

Hope your DP is ok kaloki and June 1st will be here before you know it.

How did you get on with the test oneof?

Glad you're back bella xxx

Hi to all and hope everyone is ok

CaveMum · 11/05/2010 07:31

Morning all, anyone fancy a triple choc brownie? I've baked a batch to take into the office - check out the domestic goddess

I'm wondering if my body knows what it is supposed to do yet! I would have started taking my pill again on Saturday but since Sunday evening I've been getting spotting (don't normally have this) and getting AF style cramps. Anyone else have similar symptoms post pill?!

Hope everyone has a good day.

felicityFlick · 11/05/2010 08:06

Oh, I'd kill for one of your brownies! Sound amazing- your work folk are very lucky!

Can't help on your symptoms am afraid as I've not ever had spotting- AF always begins with full force!

Morning Ladies, I have been doing a lot of lurking lately and given how quiet it has been on here I thought I should at least say hi

I also wanted to thank you all for the support and well wished, they have often brought a tear to my eye, so thank you very much.

Not much to update really, I am still under the care of the gastroenterologist (sp!) but waiting for test back. The sickness is getting worse and I have bruised eyes and broken blood vessles in my eye from been so violently sick - yes I look pretty scary. The consultant was not very nice and seems to be taking ages with the results but until I get them I cant be referred regarding hormonal inbalance or general infertility and it could be another 3 weeks before I hear anything - and then the wait for the referral - ARGGHHHH. But having said that I am trying to remain positive, have lost half a stone of weight so far and trying not to let it affect me too much. Although having said I have now been trying over a year! I am due AF back end of this week and I am pretty sure she will arrive as normal

Anyway enough about me! Sorry this is a me me me post!!

Kkas hope you are doing ok - cycle 10 hit Claire and I both really hard, if anything cycle 12 approaching is far easier than 10! Although lets hope you dont get that far and get your BFP this month

Kaloki sorry to hear you are having a tough time, hope you and your DP are feeling better. Oh and your wedding plans sound lovely. We will be having a really small wedding too - although I wont be making my dress - cant sew at all!!

Evil hope the docs can help a little more, it must be so hard for you. But at least you have a doctor who seems to be helping.

Pinkie congrats on the AF!

Sorry I havent time to say hello to everyone individually but as always got carried away and run out of time. I did just want to add something regarding jealousy - I am so jealous its untrue, if I see someone with a baby I just want to cry and when you hear people say that it took them ages to conceive - like 3 months I just want to hit them !!! I am ashamed to admit as happy as I am for Fulham, even the birth of Lily made me upset. I joined this board just a month or so before Fulham got her BFP and stupidly also assumed that by now I would also have my LO or at least be very far along

But hey ho, onwards and upwards,

p.s Cavemum are the brownies zero calories, if so - yes please

kkas · 11/05/2010 09:03

zippys i really hope you start getting some answers and start feeling better soon. don't feel bad about being jealous - you have no idea how i get anytime i see a baby or bump. really hard. thanks for your kind words re cycle 10. i know we all will get there in the end and it's great to have such nice friends for the journey

OneOf8 · 11/05/2010 09:16

Morning,

The man was in when I arrived home (accompanied by my mate the grey cloud) so only had a couple of glasses in the end - good job too, found it really hard to wake up this morning!

No surprise, BFN - completely expected so didn't cash in the sympathy ticket. Spoke to friend (who pg) under the guise "to properly congratulate as feeling a bit off earlier". Damage control done & Green eye monster back in the cage. Phew! Its easy to be happy for people on here, as you know they want it as much as you do, but for some reason it takes a drink a moment to be only happy (as opposed to happy and jealous) in RL.

EG Good luck at the doctors today

Kaloki already a third of way through May, your appointment will come round quickly (hopefully it feels that way for you also) - not entirely sure how long you were chasing the referral but at least you have it now!

Cave I hope you do not experience the same thing I have! I used to be greeted by AF on 5th/6th day after last pill, after very light cramps the day before. Between am/lunch would start spotting, with flow by evening. The "normal" af's since have started with spotting and this has gone on for nearly a day - but I did also have one where it was spotting on and off for a couple of days, then almost a "flow" followed by nothing. Seems af is working part time! Keep an eye on it, and if it is to far away from what you remember as norm, then for peace of mind may be worth discussing with GP? sorry - cant be more help but visits have been scarce! (although some may find this TMI!)

Flick the waiting game is second only to watching paint dry.

Hope the dr?s pull their finger out, and results arrive ASAP Zippy

Good Morning everyone else!

maamalady · 11/05/2010 13:05

Results are in. All came back normal. Doctor says not to worry, just wait until it's six months with no AF as no need to start doing anything else until then. Back to the waiting game!

CaveMum · 11/05/2010 13:30

Hi again ladies. Well the brownies have gone down a storm. They are utterly fab, even if I do say so myself! If anyone fancies having a go you can find the recipe here

Dont forget - if you make them for someone else the calories dont count!

I'm continuing to temp at the moment and have been terribly dull and consistent! In fact I deliberately took my temp again after doing some exercise just to make sure that it was working!

The spotting appears to have stopped, for today. I was just a bit wary as I had my withdrawl bleed last week (sorry if anyone is having lunch) and normally this lasts 3 days then disappears like clockwork.
I went on the pill in the first place as my periods were all over the shop! I think at the mo my brain must be thinking 'who's driving this thing'?!

OneOf8 · 11/05/2010 13:36

Glad for you EG all normal
Sucky about having to continue waiting - but this is good news, as they do not feel there is anything to worry about. When I got called in to discuss my results the other month, I had to bypass my house to change my pants I was so worried (as they normally give results over the phone)

Florin · 11/05/2010 14:01

Hi. Hope everyone having a good day. I am being such a grump at the moment think it's pms from these long cycles. Although I wouldn't admit it to dh I do feel a little sorry for him. I flipped at him last night for breaking a wine glass (they are expensive to replace) and also for freezing all the mince when I asked him to put one lot in fridge for dinner. Poor man doesn't know where he is with me! I know I'm being unreasonable but I can't help it!

Evil when did u go to docs about your long cycles? I had one cycle about 32 day when I came off the pill then a 51 day cycle and now on day 40 with no sign of it although I get mild cramps think it's coming but then nothing. Before being on my pill (over 10 years ago) my periods were very regular. I want to go but firstly getting a docs appointment is hard plus I don't want for him just to say don't worry come back in 6 months.
I was thinking about trying angus cactus which some people say can help regulate long cycles and with pms-anybody with any experience?

maamalady · 11/05/2010 18:07

Florin - I also had very regular cycles before going on the pill, and had been on it for about ten years. After coming off the pill I had a normal withdrawal bleed, then a 28 day cycle which ended with a very short and very light AF. I am still on that second cycle now. It was day 60 when I first went in to see the doctor, she said not to worry and to have a blood test a couple of weeks later to check I was definitely not pregnant. I had the blood test on day 81, which came back negative. Then I spent the next couple of weeks having various things tested (TSH, whole blood count, FSH, LH, prolactin and oestradiol), which have all come back normal. Doctor says it's pretty much certian that it is "post-pill amenorrhea", and I should just keep waiting until we hit six months before worrying. I am now on CD102, and six months worked out as 31 days per month is 186, so I've got another 84 days in hand for AF to turn up! I am feeling quite upbeat still though, as I am relatively young to be TTC, so there's plenty of time before we start panicking about the biological clock.

My doctor is quite relaxed about "alternative" medicines (he actually seemed more accepting of it than I am), and he said he'd not heard of anything I could take that would help to bring on AF. However, placebo effects still work even if they don't acually do anything, and I'm willing to try things if they can't do any harm! What is agnus castus?

OP posts:
wannamummy · 11/05/2010 20:29

Oh, florin and evilgiraff! I've been reading about it and am considering taking it for irregular periods.

It's apparently referred to as natures clomid....

maamalady · 11/05/2010 20:34

Where would you get it, wannamummy? Boots?

OP posts:
haloflo · 11/05/2010 20:38

mrswajs I just wanted to let you know I posted your CBFM today 1st class so you should get it in the next 2 days.

Hermya321 · 11/05/2010 20:45

Just popping in to say Hi and that I hope you're all doing well.

Zippys I may have missed it, but did they figure out what was going on with your dizziness in the end. I'm assuming that it's something to do with your guts if you're under a gastroenterologist (trying saying that after a few too many). I do hope things get better soon though.

Evilgiraffe I'm glad to hear you're feeling relaxed about stuff.

Felicity Hello!! I still think of you when I make a stupid driving error.

As for me I'm ok, nothing of note to report apart from my sucess with making a mousaka from scratch last night. I was most impressed with myself (it did take two hours though).

wannamummy · 11/05/2010 21:01

Yes evilgiraff, Boots sell Agnus Cactus in one a day tablets. Apparently you can get it in Holland & Barrat but you have to take two tabs 4 times a day...

Also, I've read you should stop using it when you ovulate, as it can cause early MC if you fall preg when taking it... not sure how accurate that is. I looked at it Boots, but it doesnt tell you anything about it! This is the reason I'm not sure about it, as I'm not temping or anything so dont know what's happening when.

If anyone else has advice, it would be good!

MrsWajs · 11/05/2010 22:00

Oh thank you halo! I thought for a minute it had come today (not sure how that would have happened) as the dog was going mad at the door, but it was something else - NOT for me I might add !! Ooh I can't wait to get my hands on it and terrify acquaint myself!

Having an early night before going back to work tomorrow so will catch up later, although it has been quiet lately!

Florin · 11/05/2010 22:24

Think Angus Cactus is just not tested on pregnant people so they don't know what happens when you are pregnant anyway my cycles are so buggered thought it was worth ago. Asked dh to get it but blatently wont so will go and get some at the weekend and let you know how I get on. From research I have been doing the liquid stuff gets in your system quicker although tastes horrid, anyway will give it a go, will just have to think of lovely babies when drinking it.
Dh and I were the first visitors to a friends baby today. It was so so cute and I couldn't feel a hint of jealousy when I saw the baby I am just so happy for them. However still desperate to sort my cycles out so we have a chance too!
Hope everyone is having a good evening.
Hermya321 well done on the Moussaka, 2 hours is serious effort for monday night dinner!

felicityFlick · 12/05/2010 01:48

Morning Frolickers,

Feeling much more cheery today about the waiting situation.

I can shed some light on Agnus Castus after thoroughly researching it and taking it since February.

After I came off the pill in November I had a 41 day cycle followed by a 57 day cycle ( I think this was partly due to traveling across a few different time zones over Christmas and having tonsillitis and super strength antibiotics).

After that I decided to take Agnus Castus and Evening Primrose Oil. I take the one a day AC and I take 1500mg of EPO. Since taking them my cycle has become more regular. My first on the AC was 38 days and my last was 33 days. I am temping as well so I can see that I ovulated on day 19 in my first cycle since taking the tablets and day 15 last month. I am currently on day 16 of cycle 3 since taking AC and EPO so waiting to see when I will ovulate this month. Like you said evil, my cycles might have regulated by themselves anyway but it helps me to think that I am taking action and doing something, even if it is a placebo effect!

You are meant to only take them for the first part of your cycle, up until Ovulation. I am not 100% sure why with AC but know that with EPO it can sometimes cause womb contractions that can lead to a miscarriage. However, I have read that AC works better when it is taken for whole cycles so it is recommended that you take it for a few months, for the whole month, when you're not TTC so it can get into your system faster. I have been able to do this as I am not TTC at the min, but I am sure that you will not want to take a break so taking it for the first part of your cycle is fine. Although temping would be a good idea so you can SEE when you ovulated if you are not sure at the minute.

Hope all this rambling helps!

Glad your results were normal EG

Good to see you hermya- I think of you when I make roundabout errors especially!

Hi to everyone else

Ariesgirl · 12/05/2010 13:03

I take a cocktail of drugs supplements that some people would be horrified at no doubt. I've always had this thing with spotting before AF, and have always been assured that it's normal and doesn't matter. But sometimes it was up to 5 days before and I heard that this could be caused by low progersterone. So I thought I'd give B6 (50 mg), Agnus Castus and Satrflower Oil a go. The Starlower seems to have worked wonders for the sore boobs, anyhow and the spotting seems to have greatly reduced. On the other hand, my cycles seem to have become a couple of days longer (look at what happened this month), but as I was so crap and slack before TTC I never really knew how long my cycles were. They just seemed to come along once a month. Since taking it, I've had 29, 32 and 33 day cycles.

A certain someone may jump in here and shout "Stop taking it - you'll DIE unless you get checked out by a gynae."

felicityFlick · 12/05/2010 13:19

I knew I could rely on you aries self medicating is teh way forward!

Florin · 12/05/2010 14:23

Aries I've gone the same way just got back from boots with Angus catus and starflower oil hoping it helps sort out my cycles a bit. Actually really cheered me up as feel I am doing something positive towards gettig pregnant
