A new thread! This is for anyone who is trying to conceive their first child - anyone welcome!

The current stats list is shown below, UCL means usual cycle length, and CD is cycle day.

In theory the person who starts the thread gets a BFP before the end, but I'll just be happy to get AF turn up again!

Quick update from me. We're just in from our gig tonight (yes, bank holidays mean more work for us, not less!), went very well, we were quite buzzy on the drive back - shattered now though My period has just about trailed off, it's been rather lengthy this month Hope everyone enjoys their bank holiday Monday, we'll be relaxing tomorrow, and it's our fourth wedding anniversary on Tuesday, so hopefully another relaxing day

Hello Frolickers,

Hope your bank holiday has been filled with frolicking for those in the SWI stage and more promising symptoms for those in the 2WW.

flo Fingers firmly crossed here. Your symptoms sounds v. promising. Holding out until Thursday sounds like a plan. How has your diet been going this week? I weighed myself this morning and I have lost 5lbs this week! I think most of it is probably water though as I was heavier than I ever have been last Monday when I weighed myself and AF arrived on Tues so the extra pounds were probably water retention and bloating but I'm not complaining!
I did something very crazy the other day... I purchased a CBFM. I promised myself that I would treat myself to one for Christmas if I hadn't had a BFP by then but my reasoning is this: We are going to start TTC after AF in June (which will actually be at the start of July due to my dates) The problem is that I have 7 weeks school holiday from the end of June to the beginning of August. This is not a problem in it's self of course but I will be in America for three weeks and the UK for three weeks so will not be able to chart my temps as that would be tooooo crazy with the time difference as my body is on HK time which is 7 hours ahead of UK and 15 ahead of LA! As this would be my first cycle of TTC properly after all of my hard work [hmmm] regulating I thought I would go crazy not being able to temp so in my crazy baby lady head a CBFM was the only answer for me to take on my holidays! DH will think I've gone mad- I think I actually have but oh well!

aries Am still saying nothing but seeing as today is CD29 I hope the witch stays away. Do you have any plans to POAS or are we not going there yet.....???

How are you feeling zips? Are you still in hosp or was it just an overnight stay?Hope your results are through speedily and that you can get cracking with TTC with renewed vigour.

cavemum great win in the prize draw! You are obviously very lucky! Your cat story sounds just like mine. I feel so bad that my poor little girl can't go out. She is just walking round crying, with the stupid collar on. She looks depressed. I just want to let her out and take the collar off- it's a good test for being a mum!

cherry I love my FF VIP membership. Kkas made me tempted the other week when she said that you could overlay your charts and look for patterns in your cycle so I signed up! It's been really useful for me so I can get to know my cycle before I ttc in June. If you are a stats geek like me you will love it! I definitely recommend it mrsWajs takethatlady welcome! I'm not really as mad as this post makes me sound...

[pinkie] what's the goss with your DP's audition?!! Are you allowed to say? well I guess we don't know who you are so you can maybe? Your breakfast/day of chilling sounds lovely! Hope that cheered you up xxx

claire your gig sounds like it went really well! Congratulations on your 4 year anniversary on Tuesday too!

bellaby and dinky where are you?!

I've been crazy again today too- My good friend's second baby is due in September and she found out the other day that it is a girl. So pleased for her but then she told me the names that her and her DH are considering and their current favourite is MY name I know of course it isn't my name, but it is one of the few girls names that DH and I both love and we've always said we'd use it. I've not mentioned it to anyone so my friend had no way of knowing and I know that she may not use it and I also know that I might not have a girl etc, etc but I am still

Enjoy your bank hols everyone xxx

hairytriangle · 03/05/2010 10:15

I'm going to see about wether or not to wait - apparently it's ok to try again straight away- it's just that doctors like you to have a period so they can date it? Frankly I don't care about dates, or easing the ride for the medical profession! I'm going to take advice on waiting for hormones to stabilise (I am still having pregnancy symptoms -itchy feet and hands, vein raised in leg, slightly queezy, etc. I'm guessing he symptoms are because the hormones have not left my body.
bleeding has stopped - so it was an easy four days.

haloflo · 03/05/2010 10:26

Morning - just a quick update from me on my phone. Temp fell back from 36.82 to 36.58 today so along with back af cramps means i'm sure I'm nearly out. Boooo. I'll keep you all updated. Back later for a proper update. Have a good bank holiday Monday all.

CaveMum · 03/05/2010 10:37

Morning all!

Hairytriangle just to say again you are inspirational. Hope everything works out & you have your BFP soon.

Felicity don't worry about the crazy. Buying the CBFM sound like basic good planning to me. Good luck monitoring everything with all the globe-trotting!

I've got some very good news this morning! DH and I had a chat and have decided that I'm not going to bother starting my next pack of pills. So as of this moment I am officially monitoring my cycles! All very exciting.
If AF shows up on time, which should be tomorrow morning, then I can start counting the days. I don't know if I will chart my temps for the first month. I may just wait and see how long the cycle lasts this time and then start temping as of cycle 2. Anyone have an opinion on this?
We've not decided to bring TTC forward, still planning on trying from September, but I just thought the more time I allow for my cycles to get back into their 'normal' rhythm then the more chance of getting my BFP early on!
That's the theory anyway, I know it's not as simple as that in real life.

Anyway, have a great day everyone!

luckyseven · 03/05/2010 10:56

cavemum good plan on stopping a month early, i really believe it took me 6 months to get the pill completely out of my system so you might as well buy yourself some time. Sure enough on month 7 temps and cbfm and all symptoms matched up for the first time and voila bfp. My advice would be to take it easy the first month, my crazy baby lady kicked in month two with opk purchases, month three was temping and then month four i bought the cbfm as i was becoming a bit obsessed! Wishing you lots of luck you have been so patiently waiting!

Just popped on to see if there was news from aries

haloflo don't lose heart that is not a massive drop, it still is possible but is so hard not to read into everything. i would expect a more dramatic drop if AF was on her way.

felicityflick nightmare with the names it is so hard not to be possessive of them. I remember my sister and i were in Paris years ago and fell out over the name Chloé -(it wasn't as commonly chosen then as it is now), neither of us were even remotely thinking of children but i now have the cutest niece and guess what she is called!

cherry could you sign up as a different person on ff and re-enter your chart details to ge another month free? I am always making up new e mail addresses to get free prints on photobox and snapfish. From time to time f also give you a free week of VIP too.
claire happy anniversary for Tuesday

hairytriangle i really admire your attitude recently, i hope everything works out for you soon and your comment about making the medical professions life easier was priceless. After all you will know what days you SWI so it can't be that hard to work out surely and that is what technology is for after all.

Happy holiday weekend to uk frolickers and a wave hello to everyone else.

cherrycobbler · 03/05/2010 11:01

morning all - congrats on your CBFM purchase flick! I secretly want one but am trying to hold out for a couple of months. All your reasoning sounds very sensible though... it would in fact be completely unreasonable not to buy one

oh flo, boo for temp dip indeed. hope it doesn't spoil your bank holiday and you're feeling ok about it.

hairytriangle hope you are taking it easy. a close friend of mine started trying right away after m/c - worked for her, both in terms of now having very active 2 year old, and felt right for her emotionally. i have my fingers crossed for a very similar end to your story.

cavemum - that is very exciting news! i have only been temping for a month but do like it - so if it were me I'd prob start temping for the first cycle - but only because i have discovered my inner stats geek and like seeing the pretty graph lines! your plan sounds like a v good one in prep for the September SWI!

DH is making disapproving noises as we're late for our friends - so better go!

felicityFlick · 03/05/2010 11:16

Oh cavemum- great news! So excited for you. I really think it's the best thing to do- I think my body is only just getting into a pattern now and I came off my pill in Nov. Lots of people go straight back to normal though so fingers crossed that you'll be one of those I like seeing the graph on FF too like cherry said and it helps me to feel like I am doing something whilst I am waiting to ttc if you know what I mean?

Thanks for all of your support over my CBFM purchase lets hope convincing DH that it would be unreasonable not to buy one is as easy!

Fingers still crossed for you flo

Thanks for support on names lucky! At least one of you used the name after falling out over it

hairytriangle · 03/05/2010 12:05

Gosh, you guys are so lovely! Thanks all of you for your lovely messages and saying I'm inspirational - that makes me feel better!

Cavemum - wow, great news! How exciting!!

I was just wondering if anyone knows whether it's normal to stop bleeding after four days (usual Period is 6-7) and have slight stabbing feelings (can't really call them pains) after miscarriage?

Slightly concerned as i've heard you can get infections etc, but I'm not over worried, just slightly cautious.

MrsWajs · 03/05/2010 12:32

Very quick post, cold someone drop me back to the bottom of the list AF came this morning Will read through the thread later.x

hairytriangle · 03/05/2010 12:38

Sorry to hear that MrsWajs

PinkiePoo · 03/05/2010 12:50

Happy Bank Hols, MN'ers.

Right...cavemum welcome to the TTC club....well and truly one of us now. Prepare the craziness to go through the roof!!

mrswajs sorry for AF, but after your long cycle, i bet its good that things are appearing 'normal' once again? Still a bitch though right?

aries aries wherefore art thou aries? Did you? Have you? TELL TELL TELL!!

I am in my sick bed. Sore throat, cold....probably explains my epic long headache...just a build up to this. and still no frigging AF. We have well and truly fallen out.

Just watched 'The Hangover' for the 20th time to cheer me up, anyone else seen it? I just love Alan....literally wet myself everytime.

Oh and OH didn't get through to next round of X Factor, so we will not be famous just yet. Is a joke really as i know i am biased but he is amazing, think Buble....(which by the way, we are going to see him soon, in PARIS)>>>>>>>Totally rubbing this into other MN'ers as this is all i have to look forward to so therefore very smug

Ariesgirl · 03/05/2010 14:10

Day 29 in the Aries house. Aries has interesting nauseous sensations. But at the same time those regular and tell-tale stabs of rage at the most insignificant things. I actually had to go and sleep in the spare room last night because DH's breathing was annoying me so much . I am thinking nothing. Nothing at all. Until three more days down the line.

Sorry - this is a blatant copy and paste from another thread.

CaveMum · 03/05/2010 15:15

Ta for the messages ladies! It's all quite exciting! As tthe day has gone on DH has said on more than one occasion that the more he thinks about it thecmore he thinks it is a really good idea for me to stop taking my pill now .

I think I will just monitor things myself for the first 3 months or so so I can find an average cycle length, before I start putting any stats up on here.

Aries - everything possible is crossed for you.

wannamummy · 03/05/2010 17:16

Happy Bank Holiday everyone!

Just back home after visiting my mummy for the weekend. Good news, AF finally arrived this morning, so now back to CD1! I'm actually quite relieved as BFN's and nothing to show for it was quite annoying.

I'm meant to be doing some ironging whilst DH cuts the grass... haven't made it yet.....

Sorry about AF MrsWajs and good luck flo

MrsWajs · 03/05/2010 23:29

Evening frockilers!
Sorry for the rushed post this avo just wanted to drop in quickly before work but then realised I was actually running really late!!

So the witch arrived this morning, I'm bittersweet about it, glad that cycles are back to a more 'normal' length but also a bit gutted as really hoped this might be my month this will be me going into my 10th cycle I think, although now I'm wondering why I have cycle 8 still on the stats list. Have had 9 periods since ttc but first one was withdrawal bleed from pill so am I right to count it from after that one? Tried not to get too crazy in 2ww this month in the hope that I wouldn't feel as miserable when AF appeared - FAIL! Sobbed my heart out to DP this morning First time I've really properly had a good cry about it all but think it has been compounded by everything else that has gone on in the last month or 2! Anyway onwards and upwards as they say just have to get over it and get focussed on this month.
Happy that my temping, despite being quite erratic, has been pretty much spot on, i did ov after my temp rise and it did start falling off before AF so at least I know I've got that just about right! Plan for this month is temping at the same time each morning, starting OPK's at about 15 days and most of all avoiding the dreaded GFJ as I'm holding it entirely responsible for my thrush!! Might even give pre-seed a bash just incase my CM isn't upto much - surely all this should provide a BFP!!?
Thanks for the phasic explantion flo not sure which I fall into, am definitelt meeting biphasic criteria but not sure if triphasic? Did have another obvious rise after ov but then a dip and then a rise and then a dip again, although never went back below original rise? I'm guessing the second rise has to be sustained to qualify as triphasic? Keeping my fingers crossed for you anyway and also for Aries

Sorry to anyone else who got AF and also congrats to wannamummy for your very late AF! Hoping yours finally appears too pinkie. Cavemum very excited for you and DH starting ttc early, I personally think it is a good idea as didn't expect it to take this long for myself so think the more time you give yourself the better! And finally zippys hope you're feeling better soon.

Sorry for anyone I've missed but as usual left it too late at night and no time to mention everyone individually! Nighty night.x

CaveMum · 04/05/2010 08:29

Morning ladies, another quiet few days on here.
Hope everyone had a good bank holiday weekend. The sun is shining here but it's still bloody chilly!

MrsWajs sorry that you've felt down - hope DP was supportive. As you say at least you are back on track with a new cycle - always look on the bright side, etc.

I've decided that I will start temping straight away - 97.50 this morning! - might as well get the practise in now so that I know I'm getting it right when it matters!

Right, must get ready for work. Happy Tuesday everyone!

Aries, if you're lurking

felicityFlick · 04/05/2010 08:37

I'm glad you're temping cavemum - I love it!

Where is everyone hiding?

Any news flo hope AF has stayed away

aries?????????

Sorry about AF mrsW- a positive is at least you know that your temping is working xxx

wannamummy yay!!! AF at last!

Just a quicky as got to dash- have appointment at the insurance company to take out maternity insurance. Another mile stone ticked off

I'll be back later or if not in the morning, although I'll try and lurk to see if aries or flo pop their heads in

maamalady · 04/05/2010 08:58

Hey all, good grief this thread moves fast! I have been away all weekend and there's so much to catch up on! Fingers crossed for Aries! And awe for hairytriangle - I can only hope for your attitude if I'm ever in the same position.

Update from me - I went to the doctor this morning, my thyroid is normal, and my blood count (for anaemia etc) is also normal. They've taken more bloods - they're off for FSH, LH, oestradiol and prolactin. Doctor again next Tuesday and we'll see what the results are. If they come back normal it looks like they'll probably refer me to the gynae clinic to try and find out what exactly is going on inside. It does seem pretty likely that it's just post-pill amenorrhea (ie I came off the pill and my periods haven't come back yet), but we shall have to wait and see. All this is quite fascinating though, and at least I'm only on my fourth month of waiting - it could be worse, and it's quite encouraging that the doctors are sending off all these tests. I dread to think what all this would have cost so far if we lived somewhere else - hooray for the NHS!

OP posts:
LankyLegs · 04/05/2010 09:44

Hello All,

Goodness hive of activity over the weekend! I must move faster on posting me thinks. Been away for most of the weekend which is nice as I then don't obsess too much about cycle days etc. Hope you all had lovely long weekends.

MrsWajs - sorry about AF - totally know how you feel, even though you get all the AF symptoms you cant help but have a tiny hankering of hope that it might be BFP symptoms. I little cry is good I think - helps get it out of he system and then you fee ready to take on the next cycle again.

Wannamummy - glad you are feeling positive about AF too - she is a cow but at least it puts us out of our misery right.... onwards and upwards...

Cavemum - very exciting that you are now actually TTC! I wish I had got myself clued up properly before trying as well. But we just got married in December and just assumed that we would fall pregnant just as quickly! Oh I wish now that I came off the pill a lot sooner and let my body regulate a bit! I was very naive!

Ariesgirl - any news - secretly very excited for you and hope the symptom spotting isn't driving you mad!

PinkiePoo - you and your OH sound like you lead a very exciting life! Sorry to hear about the audition though - Simon Cowel is an arrogant g*t so wouldn't worry too much! (say's me who is clearly a talentless girl!)

Flick - well done on the purchase - have been thinking about it myself but I think my DH would go mad if I went and purchased one - he even thinks me taking vits is silly as we 'get all out vits from our diet' blah blah blah darling...whatever...

Hairytriangle- you sound like an amazingly strong woman - hope you take some straight from all these lovely ladies that are thinking of you on here

Haloflo - GOOD LUCK GIRL! I think I would test early as well - its inevitable isn't it?!

Homebound - how are the symptoms going -are you still frantically testing to see as many BFP's - has it hit home yet?!

Evilgiraffe - pleased your doctors are being really proactive with all these tests and you are right - goodness knows how much it would all cost if we lived elsewhere. At least you are on the road to finding out what is going on inside there (its a mystery to most women - arrrgh!)

As for me - am super excited as I have been getting EWCM for last few days which is great because I am on CD12 which means I am likely to ovulate at some point over the next few days - which is REALLY early for me as I have been ovulating on CD 19/20 and have been stressing about short luteal phase etc. Vit B6 has been helping (me thinks) to regulate cycles. So am feeling positive for once.

OK ladies - want to pick your brains - I stopped drinking alcohol and coffee back in December in prep for TTC - however, I have totally started having the odd drink during AF and a few days after - do you think its bad? I just think it could take months of TTC and life would be super boring if you cant have the odd glass of vino.... everything in moderation right?

Have a fab day girls.... guess one should try and do some work now.....

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd draw your attention to the graduates thread, where Fulham's been on and posted for the first time since giving birth to little Lily in April.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/957213-The-Continuing-Adventures-of-the-First-Time-Frolicker-Gr aduates?msgid=19554000

You'll also see that Trying's posted this morning too, to say that her contractions have started, so fingers crossed that we'll soon have our second Frolicker baby!

Hope all's well with everyone here. I'll come over and have a catch up soon.

Afternoon ladies. I feel like rubbish (bleugh) today but AF is staying away (for now) I fully expect the witch in the early hours or tomorrow morning. Temp was 36.61 this morning so its stayed low (was reaching the loftly heights of 36.88) but still above my coverline of 36.33. Keep everything crossed!

flick A CBFM!!!! It definatly sounds like a good idea for your jet setting summer holidays. You will be so excited when you get your first peak! Also as temping only tells you after you have ov'ed it's no good at telling you whens best to SWI. The CBFM is better for timing your SWI. Clearly not crazy at all, but perfectly sensible!

Well done for losing 5 pounds, thats brilliant! I think i'm cracking on the diet front due to 2ww madness so when AF arrives, i'll weigh myself and go from there.

cavemum Pill free! How exciting. I think you should try temping as the more data the better really.

lanky Thank you! I think I got a little carried away over the weekend so don't get your hopes too high. In answer to your question I'm a firm believer in moderation. I've been cutting back but allowing myself drinks every now and again. (Mostly after AF as a reward) I hoping by acting normally I won't stress myself out and this will actually help me conceive. I am however cutting back to a maximum of 2 caffinated cups of tea/coffee a day for next cycle (again not denying myself completly) Good luck with SWI'ing!

So sorry about AF MrsWajs I'm glad temping worked out ok now you've gone a full cycle. I reckon next month you will know what to expect. (this is what i'm telling myself) You will be in a much better place to predict ov & therefore get your BFP. I hope you are ok.

wannamummy Also sorry about your AF but I bet you can't wait to get cracking on the next cycle. You going to step it up? Try
anything new? Or just SWI lots and lots?!

claire Happy anniversary. I hope you and DH are having a lovely day.

evil I'm glad that the docs are taking you seriously and nothing major has come up as yet. Good luck for the results. I really hope you don't reach triple figures.

aires Day 30 update? I really hope AF has stayed away.

I best go back to work, this has already been quite a long lunch break. Sorry if i've missed anyone or anything.
