Hello world!

OP posts:
randomimposter · 09/04/2010 09:14

hippy I'm a terribly good girl and nearly always do what I'm told ....
italian agree with you totally that in many cases TTC is just about relaxed non-obsessive sex! However it seems whilst I have got pg very easily (for my age) I haven't been able to make either of the last 2 stick... that might just be bad luck/old or "never going to make it" eggs, BUT it could be something about me... as in an low progesterone (factor in MMC) or an infection (came into contact with rubella in the last pg and also have 5 cats - toxoplasmosis). Infection pretty unlikely tbh, progesterone levels more possible. I just NEED to get them checked though... it would be awful to get pg again and have another MMC over something I could have done something about... SO getting that checked out (have docs appt this morning) will tick that off the list as it were....

luckywebby, we've not "met", so I don't know your story but sad to read your news. Hope you're doing ok.

Love to all - must dash. x

AlbaDeTamble · 09/04/2010 14:22

Hello all, big waves, quick check in before final hectic afternoon at work then home to pack. Can't relax till in the taxi at 6am tomorrow.
Did you know uk taxis won't provide baby seats? Thankfully we know a taxi driver who will happily drop our seat back at our house and pick it up for when he comes to get us next week. It's something with them not being insured to fit them... Bizarrely it impies they think it's better for a baby/toddler to have no safety restraint along the motorway . French taxis supply child seats on demand.
Anyway....
Have been keeping up but not posting much... Good to hear all the info. Eggwhite time for me so have followed instructions from your book Hippy! And intend otherwise not to worry too much whilst away so that's half the 2ww taken care of.
Will be back to obsess over merits of baby aspirin and progesterone supps on my return!

Have a lovely week all. Wishing you well behaved hormones, rowing, and calm serene thoughts hippy and Italian. And good luck on keeping from trying Jollster, know I couldn't do that

Luckywebby, sad to read your update. Remember your posts from when my DH had VR and I was googling for info. Very sorry it didn't work out for you. I know how depressing it is to have all hope dashed, best of luck dealing with it

Looking forward to returning to news of BFPs from Hippy and Italian

AlbaDeTamble · 09/04/2010 14:24

Oh, and just remembered Lia's here now too, so here's to a BFP from you too!!

MountTheFairy · 09/04/2010 15:36

Hello all,

Do I qualify to join? I am over on 30's threads, but as I was googling DH's sperm count results it occured to me that perhaps 40's TTC might be a place to look as well: I am 33, DH 43. Do I fit into your ranks? And does anyone have experience with sperm count?
Thanks!

Italiangreyhound · 09/04/2010 18:43

luckywebby welcome back, sorry you are not able to provide us with better news, I mean sorry for you, it is a shame you have to be here ttc but I hope we can get good company for you on this rollercoaster, all best wishes.

jollster yes, agree totally that you need to find out how to get this one to stick if you can, I wonder if a clinic can help you at all with this. I am afraid I have not much experience of mmc, although I have had one. I wonder if your GP is at all willing to help.

Alba enjoy your hols.

MountTheFairy welcome, what a bizarre name! We may all feel jolly envious of your youth but I am sure you are welcome and you will be 40 one day (oh happy thought!)

liahgen66, Rowing, Haystack, Hippy, Gum, TFLS, ILGH all best wishes for the weekend and beyond!

are those bunnies still around ??

Italiangreyhound · 09/04/2010 18:44

yes, they are, sorry if I missed anyone!

MountTheFairy · 09/04/2010 20:51

Thank you Italiangreyhound. I am sure I will be very soon...
So, does anyone have experience with low sperm volume: what may cause it and if there is a 'cure'?

hippychick66 · 09/04/2010 21:57

Hi all. Jollster why is low progesterone a factor in MMC more than MC??

I'm not feeling so positive today. Had a tiny show of brownish blood when I wiped (sorry). This could either be inplantation or a sign that AF is coming in the next few days . I do sometimes start spotting quite a few days before the main event.

Anyway if it is AF on her way I just hope she takes a couple more days to arrive to give me a half decent luteal phase, otherwise I'll be thinking about all that stuff and bloody nonsense again!!!!

Really pissed off at the mo. My Dh has gone out (a very rare thing). I settled the boys in to our room and said they could watch a DVD. Sat down to have a look on MN and they stared jumping about and arguing. 2 warnings later the film went off and they went to bed. But I could STILL hear aggro going on. Just shouted at them like a bloody old fish wife (my throat is sore .)

I was just so annoyed - i've arranged for us to go out or have soemone here every day this week to give them a nice easter break and they couldn't stop arguing for 5 mins. Even after I'd talked to them and sent them back up to bed the eldest just had to shove the youngest and start it all over again. I am now so fuming I want to cry (probably hormonal!!!)

Remind me - I do want another one of those little horrors - don't I?

Welcome mounthefairy. I'm sorry I don't have any experience with sperm counts but others on here will be along to help soon -stick around.

Italian I think what they mean by mark my place is that if you just add a quick message then next time you log on you can go to 'talk' and then 'I'm on' and the thread will still be there - do you see??

Love to all - sorry to be so crabby and mad. i'll either look back and say ahh ha that was cos I was pregnant or I'll say ahh ha that was cos I was just about to get flippin' AF. .

hippychick66 · 09/04/2010 22:12

Boys are both asleep now. They look like flippin' angels and I feel horrid for shouting at them - arrgghhhh .

randomimposter · 09/04/2010 22:19

hey hippy - sorry you've had a stressy evening, and some spotting.... BOO.

Don't think low progesterone is more relevant to MMC rather than MC - didn't mean to imply that.... The doctor I saw was a bit reluctant to do a day 21 test as she felt that was more related to ovulating/GETTING pg... I didn't want to argue with her, but I persisted and she agreed. I just think if I know that this comes back normal and not on the low side, it will put my mind at rest.

wiped out - off to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz x

randomimposter · 09/04/2010 22:20

sleeping children - the MOST gorgeous sight! x

hippychick66 · 09/04/2010 22:45

Thanks for the clarification and kind comments jolls. I think you deserve to have whatever tests you want - anything that will re-assure you will be great.

Just tell them that Hippy said they have to do it!

The spotting really was over in an instant and was accompanied by a slight cramping. The problem is that you don't know whether to go, "Yay - Inplantation, how fab!" or "B*llocks, looks like AF might be on her way!"

All very confusing and nothing short of a time machine will help me. If I had a time machine right now i'd hop forward a week and have a read to see what happened with Italian's emmbies and if I got a BFP.

I wonder if the very lovely David Tennant would like to join me in the time machine???

ps. I've got a stinking headache as well - which could basically mean a) preg b) af on way or c) The bloody kids really wound me up .

Night all.

rowingboat · 09/04/2010 22:53

Hi all,
Hippy don't feel bad, we all do stuff like that. It's nice to think we can be perfectly calm parents, but in reality we get fed-up when they are being grotty, which is actually completely normal. Imagine the surprise they would get on venturing into the 'real' world after perfectly, calm parent world. You are doing them a favour really.
And two kisses for their little angel faces. XX

Webby aaa, that is poo about your DH's VR not working. Just a word though AMH is not the most reliable measure of fertility. There are a couple of girls on my other thread who have had successful IVF, one is carrying twins.
You must be feeling fed-up, especially as your DH has gone through the reversal.
What about the procedure where the sperm are extracted from the testicles, is that an option.
Have you posted a separate thread on MN about reversal for more expert advice?

MTFairy hi there, I don't have first hand knowledge about sperm abnormalities, it is me with the problem not my DP. However, there are a lot of MF 'Male Factor' couples undergoing assisted conception. From what I can gather the first port of call is diet change, baggy undies and vitamin supplements, Clomid is another method of improving sperm and IUI I think is where the sperm are injected into the uterus directly to help them along. After that it is ICSI where your eggs are harvested and the sperm is injected directly in before returning them to the uterus.
Lots of steps to take before you get to serious assistance.

Jollster have you had your doctor's appointment yet? Any news. I do hope things become clearer soon. When this thread first started there were quite a few women who had one or more miscarriages, many of them have gone on to have babies.
It's great that you have become pg so quickly, it's only a matter of time I'm sure.

Kiwi what's up? Are you in bed early again?

Alba have a good holiday - I imagine you will either be fast asleep by now, or pacing the floor and wondering how many pairs of socks you need sacrifice to fit another pair of shoes into your suitcase.

Italian have you been having any more car sleeps? How are you feeling me old ducks? {DVDyke again}

Well, guess who's here? Heeeeeere's Johnny, sorry I mean me ol' Auntie Florence.
That Dong Quai, alfalfa cocktail did the trick or she just arrived as planned.
Who knows. Hope I am back to 28 day cycle now. Fingers crossed.

gumblossom · 10/04/2010 00:21

Hi All, nice to see newbies and welcome back Lucky, I had been wondering how you were. I am so sorry about your DH's SA. How crushing. Have you considered a Re-do? I don't know much about it, but I do know that there have been many successes after redo's on the other site I visit(my DH had a reversal too). Did your DH have microsurgery? I know some Urologists are still doing the other (macro??) surgery which doesn't have nearly the same success rate. Have you spoken to the surgeon about your options? The reversal website was a great support and has loads of info:vrsupportgroup.proboards.com/index.cgi

Mountthefairy that site has loads of information about sperm and how to boost the numbers too.

Rowing - Yip,Yip,Yippee for AF!! Who'd thought I'd be saying that on a ttc thread!
So glad you can move on now.

Hippy, your spotting sounds a wee bit promising to me. Do you chart? I know it can be a drag, but I really found that having a chart helped me work out what might be going on.It isn't for everyone, it can be just another tool to help me obsess!! However, often you'll get a temperature dip with implantation, so it can be promising.I got one at 5 dpo with Charlie, but no spotting. I know loads of women who had spotting though before the bfp. Fingers, toes and everything else crossed for you.

Well, I discovered yesterday why my LO had been such hard work recently (sometimes awake 7 times a night), he has three new teeth!! I couldn't believe it.The weird thing is he has gotten two molars before he finished getting his 8 front teeth. He had five front teeth, now one more in the front and two molars! Just glad there's an explanation for him being so unhappy. He is now quite happily watching music videos. He just loves music!

OK.It's Saturday here and I'm off to the farmer's market again. It came around really quickly this week! I'm hoping one of my friends will catch up for a cuppa too.

Italiangreyhound · 10/04/2010 12:48

gumblossom hope teeth don't bite.

Lucky hope things will sort out with sprm. Hippy* spotting sounds good, but it is all a bloomin' guessing game! Regarding DSs, why not play them at their own game, next time they settle down to watch something nice, play on the pc or whatever just get them up and make them tidy the garden or clean up their room, when they 'Mum, this is so unfair!' just say that's how I felt yesterday when you made it impossible for me to go on Mumsnet! Just an idea, I am good at giving advice but not so good at taking it!

Jollster have you had a GP or doctor's appointment to find out more miscarriages?
Kiwi what's up? Are you in bed early again?

Alba Enjoy your holiday and be relaxed, did you find a good book in the end?

MountTheFairy hope you get some answers.

liahgen66 How is your DD?

Kiwi When is your scan?

Rowing, Haystack, TFLS and ILGH Hope I did not miss anyone one out.

I had the tiniest pink tinge to my loo roll (sorry too much information) and I am now hoping against hope that it was an implantation bleed, but I think I am pretty much guessing!

Boobs still sore (I keep typing books!) and now I'm scared to try my old brand of tea in case I like it again! AAAAGGHH, roll on Sunday!

Italiangreyhound · 10/04/2010 12:52

Sorry ? Jollster that should have said ?have you had a GP or doctor's appointment to find out more about your miscarriages??

Kiwi - Why are you in bed early? Are you just tired? Sorry I am confusing myself!

Have a great weekend all.

Haystack · 10/04/2010 21:55

Hi all,
How do you all manage to post so often? I need to get more organised.

hippy that second guessing game is so hard - is there room in your time machine for me too - and I promise not to lay a hand on Tennant (well maybe a little one)

Jollster I have quite a few friends in RL who have had 2 mc or mmc in a row (sadly) who have gone on to have healthy pregnancies, and they have been widely differing ages. I think getting anything you are concerned about checked out is absolutely the right thing to. Getting pregnant quickly is very good sign. Hope you get some answers.

Lucky I haven't 'met' you before either but sorry to hear your news

Lia how awful to hear about your daughter how is everything now?

Gumblossom Very impressed with the homeschooling, though obviously not the reason for it - yes girls can be really viscious sometimes, my dd had a hard time settling into 2ndry school and was picked on, finally found some friends and we moved! Not being bullied now but not a happy girl to have to start again. And wow 3 teeth?

Alba enjoy the holiday, I have fingers crossed for piles of snow

rowing glad AF arrived, hope your cycles are sorted now

Italian have a good nights rest and I think you are coping with amazing calm.

Someone asked me where 'out here' was and then outed me as a trucker called Dave
how did you know? was it the hairy chest?
We have just moved to the Middle East from the west country so quite a change and it's taking a bit of getting used to for us all - quite a good distraction from ttc though I guess. Still AF due tomorrow and no pmt symptoms - not one - usually I am sobbing in a corner, clutching my sore boobs and ripping the head off anyone who asks me why! Is their abscence a good thing or not? ho hum just need to wait and see.

Waves to everyone and enjoy all that spring greenery I am missing so much

randomimposter · 10/04/2010 22:19

Hi all
italian not a gp appointment to discuss MC as such, as I have "only" had 2, and no investigations happen until 3.... grrrrr... BUT I did go and ask for some very specific clarifications/tests that are/may be relevant.

haystack/dave thank you for the encouragement... I do find positive stories very motivating. Makes you believe it's GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!!

frosticle small update on my friend with donor eggs well into her 2nd pregnancy.... knew she was a bit older than me, but thought 3/4 years maybe. She's 50.... WOW.

Hope all well everywhere else. x

hippychick66 · 11/04/2010 11:22

Hi all. Well I think maybe 99.9% sure I was going to get preg was a tad optimistic .

AF arrived today. It means I only had a 22 day cycle which is a bit short but I think I ov'd on day 11 so the luteal phase is just ok. I'm gonna try not to worry too much about the whole Luteal phase thing cos I managed to get preg in december so should be ok.

I have immediately sacked Zita . No seriously, I think it was still better to be brainwashed into thinking all was going to be well, rather than spend the whole time thinking doom and gloom.

The good thing about short cycles is - I'll be looking out for the infamous egg whites before I know it.

Hello to all. Especially Italain - hang on in there not long to go now.

Haystack step away from David Tennant!!! He's mine - .

randomimposter · 11/04/2010 11:44

Hippy after my ERPC I had one long cycle (the WTF one which was 32 days) then I had 2 of only 22/23 days, which worried me, but think it really does take a couple to even itself up. Not that you can't get pg in that time of course...
Also really don't GET the David Tennant thing? Pasty, geeky, gurning.... no thanks. He's all yours...!

hippychick66 · 11/04/2010 12:19

jolly If you could see my dear hubbie, you'd see that in RL David Tennant is sooo not my type. Geeky is not a word anyone would use for my DH - he's more chunky!!

Do you think maybe I should let Haystack have David Tennant after all???

Yep, I know it's early days after the EPRC and as I say I did at least make it over the 10 days after ovulation - so am NOT going to obsess about it (repeat this to yourself several times a day Hippy!!!)

Have you decided whether you are going to stop TTCing as instructed???

KiwiKat · 11/04/2010 17:54

Quick wave to everyone - I've been feeling very beige over the last week, like a permanent hangover, even threw up at work on Thursday, very surreptitiously, and completely shattered. Scan is Wednesday afternoon. I think I will tell Evil Boss pretty soon, so that she can't make me redundant? Paranoid? Moi? Nope, they've lost a few folk over the last 18 months.

Rowing, delighted AF is finally here.

Hippy, sorry yours is here too - but you're got the best attitude possible.

David Tennant is SOOOOO much better than that new one - he's very unfortunately-featured, poor boy. But you can keep them both.

Hope you've all had fab weekends. x

Haystack · 11/04/2010 20:14

good luck with the scan Kiwi, hope you are feeling better soon.

Hippy clearly the day for AF as mine arrived today as well, and that makes it a 28 day cycle! has been 23/24 days the last 6 months so pleased about that at least. And David has apparently been locked in my eldest daughter's wardrobe, she says he is hers (but she might have to wait a bit as she is only 12!)

looking forward to my 4am start tomorrow as going to airport to pick up my mum - so excited!

take care all x

rowingboat · 11/04/2010 20:18

Hi all,

Kiwi that sounds a bit rough at work. Are you feeling queasy a lot or just here and there?
Smelly old boss wouldn't dare fire a pg woman, not if she wants a quiet life. I think the threat of a tribunal would make her think twice about it.
When you say 'lost a few folk over the past 18 months' do you mean that as a good thing, meaning they are now optimally staffed, or that they are laying-off people?

I liked David Tennant as Dr Who, but not in RL. I think he played the role really well, but didn't have a major crush as some people seem to. The new bloke - early days!

Hippy is 22 days around the normal number of days for you. 11 days is fine for a luteal phase as far as I know.
A very real bonus for shorter cycles, is more opportunities to become pg. You would get almost four more chances per year than me on a 22 day cycle.
Good to hear that Zita is keeping you sane. Listening to Zita's voice drove me up the wall.

Gum wow at Charlie's new teeth. That must have been hard for him, don't you feel for them, getting teeth.
I remember a post on MN about teething, somebody wrote that when her LO's were teething she chewed off her arm, the dog got mange and the cat ran away.
How is your DD getting on at school now?

Haystack, I don't know, I would have thought the Middle East and Cornwall were very similar. Can't imagine why you would have difficulty settling in.
But seriously, that sounds pretty major. Which country are you in?
I remember doing quite a bit of flying at the start of last year and my cycle went on the wonk.

Jollster that is reassuring about your friend. How is she coping with having a little one and being pg. Is she fabulously fit?

So this is my on CD3 and feeling pretty normal. I think this is much more of a regular AF. A bit TMI, but my last few seemed to be old blood, which I think were from the IVFs. I mean the last time I had an endometrium or 13.5 mm on the transfer, normal is around 8mm.
One slight problem which has occurred to me. I have calculated that the transfer day for a natural cycle, may fall on the clinic's closed day: Sunday. Hmm, that's not good.
So thinking about continuing with agnus castus because it tends to add days on the end of a normal cycle, which would be quite handy.
Isn't the weather lovely! Have you all been doing outdoor things?

OP posts:
Italiangreyhound · 12/04/2010 02:57

Haystack hope all is going well in the middle east, it was me who outed you, but then my DH thinks you are all truckers called Dave.

Hippy don?t sack Zita yet, she is very good at sending me to sleep! I listened to the track 3 on assisted conception and heard a positive bit about the embies that I had not heard before, I must have listened a dozen times so that means 11 times I have slept through that bit before! Maybe Zita can do a ?stop obsessing? CD!!

Jollster ?Pasty, geeky,? have you met my DH?? Seriously, geeky is lovely!

Kiwi all the best to you. Hope boss is not being too mean.

Waves to Rowing and Gum and all.

I think this will be my last post as we head off tomorrow, so waves to all.
