Ok, feel a bit scared actually starting the new thread but here we are, for however long (or short) our time here may be.

Off you go ladies. Welcome () one and all.

Hi all, it is my first day back in the office, and I am finding it much tougher than expected. And also exhausting.

Trying to put on a brave face, but people have commented that I look tired (I'm not sleeping particularly well, and was also extremely anaemic). So I could particularly do with at least 2 Gu brownies please.

Oh well. I'm sure I'll get back into it soon.

Hippy I only have the (ahem) back passage shooting pains, and not every time, but i will mention them to the dr when I go to see her (need to check my iron levels are coming back up).

Hello bigmutha, I'm really sorry about your mc - I was also on the August thread, but under a different name.

(Was that thread particularly unlucky do you think?).

I have 2 January babies already, so I feel I am destined to have another. and just to make sure, I am booking a skiing holiday for April (well here's hoping anyway!).

Unbuffy · 23/02/2010 12:28

I've been eating spinach wraps over the past week to try to bring my iron levels back up. Suprisingly tasty, even if the texture's a bit slushy... Better with cream cheese too .

I can pass some around if anyone fancies... or there's chocolate fingers instead (my parents came for the weekend and brought enough food for 40 people)

And yes wibbly pig is eeeevvvvviiiillll - ever seen him and Dr. Evil in the same room at the same time?

Unbuffy · 23/02/2010 12:31

Red wine is good for iron too, i've been told...

GinaFB · 23/02/2010 12:45

Hello everyone.

I am new here from the June thread. Our DD was diagnosed at 20 weeks with spina bifida and it was felt that as it was so severe we should end the pregnancy. It has been totally devastating but it has totally re affirmed how much we want a family hence I am here!

I know its probably too early to start TTC but mentally I feel like I need to be here so I can start trying again ASAP.

Hopefully that makes sense.....

SarahMumtoAlex · 23/02/2010 12:51

Just checking into this shiny new thread. Sorry to have been so quiet these last few days, finding it harder this cycle, so I'm not much company.

Welcome to all the newbies, though sorry to see you here. Sorry I feel too fuzzy to namecheck everyone but particular thoughts for bigmuther hope you can find some solace here when you are ready

Unbuffy · 23/02/2010 12:54

Oh Gina that must be so hard. I think you've been through everyone's worst nightmare having to make that choice. Not everyone on this thread is ttc (see the list) but it's a great place to be for support and the grads list proves that it gets better. Best wishes.

A question (slightly weird) for everybody. Has anybody else had this post pg/mc: my hair is falling out. Not in clumps and patches but much more than normal is brushing/washing out. Hopefully not all but still... Any suggestions?

CCBloom · 23/02/2010 13:03

AlbaDeTamble the only stats I can share at the moment are TTC#1. I'm not actually sure about my cycle because I have just come off the pill after being on it for 3 years and I actually conceived in December despite being on the pill. Hoping that is a good sign and that when we ttc again things will be fine but after one bad experience I've lost my naive innocence. Will share stats once AF returns and I have a better idea. I have been opened up to the world of measuring BBT so hopefully this will help me get an understanding quickly.

pollybloodyanna - there is nothing easy about coming back to work. I spent my first two days on the verge of tears dodging questions from colleagues about whether I had this bug or that when really I wanted to just be left alone. Third week back now and after having confided in 2 colleagues who are good friends the days are passing easier. Hope your day passes quickly.

Dirtgirl · 23/02/2010 13:32

Just trying to put my stats in but don't really know what to put.

dirtgirl TTC#2 UCL28 cycle? CD?

What does CD mean? Also am on 1st AF since mc. What number cycle does that get me on?

Dirtgirl · 23/02/2010 13:33

Gina, glad you've made it here. I hope you find the support you need, and the place to start hoping for the future.

SarahMumtoAlex · 23/02/2010 13:34

unbuffy hair falling out is quite common after pregnancy, don't worry.

dirtgirl CD is Cycle day; If you are having the first AF after your mc then you are on cycle 1 (you were on WTF till now)

Dirtgirl · 23/02/2010 13:36

Unbuffy, I can only assume that it is the normal pregnancy thing. You don't have your natural hair shedding thing when you're pregnant so you get lots of hair. Then afterwards it falls out, you're not going bald, just shedding the extra.

SarahMumtoAlex · 23/02/2010 13:37

Goodness, gina xposts earlier, I sure hope it didn't read that I was ignoring you. You clearly are a very strong woman to be looking forward so well, welcome, hope its a supportive place to be

VivClicquot · 23/02/2010 13:37

Hi Gina

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby. I went through something similar in November when my baby girl was discovered to have Turner's Syndrome at 13 weeks. My DH and I are now back to ttc, but the pain of losing her and coming to terms with our 'choice' is still quite raw.

(I say 'choice' as I really don't think it's the right word to describe what I / we have been through, as it implies a voluntary option between two different outcomes. There's no way I would have chosen to go through what I did, which means to me, it wasn't a choice at all. Rather, it was just a really awful and heartbreaking decision. Hope that makes sense.)

Anyway, if it helps, I flit between this thread and the one for women who have chosen to terminate for abnormalities on the Antenatal Tests and Choices section of the site. The ladies over there are just as wonderful and supportive as the ones on this thread, and I feel very lucky to have found them all.

Much love,
Viv xx

liahgen66 · 23/02/2010 13:53

buffy echo what dortgirl said re hair loss, probably just hormones settling. If it goes on however, get it checked as could be a hormone imbalance perhaps.

polly I am "lucky" (?) that I don't have to face work colleagues, I did have to do the school run and ds's dance school so i know how you feel. It's lovely that people are concerned but feeling on the verge of tears anyway is not helped when well meaning people are asking how you are. Yu'll get through it, just take it a day at a atime and if it gets too much, call in sick, it's ok to feel low and surely that counts as sick if you are struggling. ((()))

dirt TTC#2 UCL28 cycle 1 (post mc)? CD? (insert number of days since period started, cd1 is first day of bleeding). I shall add you to list once you have completed.

sarah I'm sorry you are feeling crap, that's the beauty of this thread, we are all going to have easier days, good days and completely shitty days and that's ok. If you want to rant, then please do. If you would prefer to disappear for a few days then that's ok too. We are here when you are ready to come along. I hope you start to feel ok soon. Give your dh a hug, he might be struggling too. It'll make oyu both feel nice.

gina I am so so sorry you have had to make that heartbreaking decision, (echo viv, not at all a choice ) The other thread she mentioned is lovely too. Please feel free to come here whenever you are ready.

Would you like to tell us about your dd? what is her name? (tell me to bugger off if it's too much at the moment) . I hope you find some comfort here.

OP posts:
Unbuffy · 23/02/2010 14:07

s'long as i'm not going to go bald, i'm not too worried, just wondered whether anybody else had had similar.

so sorry about using the word 'choice' in earlier post . as soon as i posted it i was kicking myself - it's not a choice at all, it's a hideous decision to be forced to make. i feel awful - many appologies.

Allthe8s · 23/02/2010 14:10

Gina I am sorry to hear about your baby too, it is heartbreaking. I hope you can find the support you need here. You are a very brave and strong lady for making that decision, I know how tough it is having been there.xxx

unbuffy my hair sheds too. Spoke to hairdresser and she said its normal just hormones adjusting.

liah if you update the list would you mind changing my TTC number 2 to number 3. Explained in an earlier post. Thanks x

liahgen66 · 23/02/2010 14:14

buffy Hope that didn't upset you, I wasn't reffering to anyone here having used it, just meant the whole situation. Please don't feel bad, I'm sure gina knows it was just a figure of speech.

allthe8's sorry I missed that earlier.

liah thanks for updating and I know what you mean about the school run....plus there have been lots of new babies born since Sept (DD1 at nursery), on of the mums hasn't been around for a while and arrived today with pram I managed to have a peek and say congratulations without bursting into tears. I am surrounded by bumps at the mo.

VivClicquot · 23/02/2010 14:33

Unbuffy - please don't feel terrible. Like Liah says, I wasn't picking up on you using the term - more that even I struggle to describe what we've been through without using the word, even though it's not the right word to use - if that makes sense. xx

Unbuffy · 23/02/2010 14:43

i don't feel picked on, don't worry! Just wanted to agree with expressions of shitness of circumstances and situations. and wanted to remedy any offence caused.

dd currently screaming herself into blue funk refusing to nap. may have to give up any idea of work today (sigh).

sakura28 · 23/02/2010 14:45

Hi everyone,

I have posted on the mc boards in the past, its good to see that another thread has been started for this as I have to admit, I found the other one (which was massive!) a bit intimidating, silly I know!

I have had 3 mcs since ttc, the first one was in June last year so my due date would have been around this time which I am finding... pretty hard to deal with really.
Especially when faced with people that I know who are pregnant, one of them also due any day now. I think I am just kind of ignoring my feelings b'cos its too painful to cope with otherwise.
I don't have any children and can't help thinking it may never happen, negative I know but I can't shake the thought.

Anyway, I am a bit unsure about stats, my usual cycle length is 28 days, and its been 5 days since my 1st period started since the mc.

Thanks xxx

thefatladyscreams · 23/02/2010 14:53

Hi everyone,

Sorry I've been offline for so long - been feeling really wiped out - but I've been lurking and checking up on everyone. This thread is just moving sooooo quickly that I never quite feel that I can catch up properly - so have given up and just a big wave to everyone! I had a bit of a wobble at the weekend as had a little bit of spotting - of course I lost the plot and assumed the worst. In the middle of it, Totally (the original thread starter) logged on and announced that her baby girl Faith had been born and it just seemed such an appropriate name.

Welcome to all the newbies - sorry you've had to find this thread but it truly is a life saver. I found it the day after my miscarriage and it has helped me so much.

And sorry where AF has made an appearance. It is such a rollercoaster - I found my response varied from month to month, from being really upset to quite philosophical. The only consistent was I could never predict how I would feel!

Unbuffy - just to confirm what everyone else has said about the hair loss - I'm sure it's hormonal. Meita had it briefly for a while and she's never mentioned wearing a wig!

Liah - yes I started a previous thread but it took another volume before I got up the duff. You should have started with a double post and that would have meant twins! [TFLS cringes at her own lame joke and embarrassedly exits the thread quickly]

Gi1da · 23/02/2010 15:31

Good heavens what a busy day! Runs into the thread waves at everybody, waaay too many to namecheck sorry! Surreptitiously places a big basket of cakes and cookies on the coffee table then runs out and pretends to have been busily working at desk all the time.. Who me? Nah...

Ladies, wishing you all a good day, and lets hope that this thread ends up with more up the duff duffs (duff duff duffs) than eastenders!
